My Divine Pet System

Chapter 7

C7 – Incident Fire

“Me? I’d better not… I probably don’t possess the Battle Spirit Bloodline,” Bo Miaojiao murmured, her head bowed low.

“You shouldn’t talk about yourself that way. If I can create a miracle, why can’t you? You have to believe in yourself!” Qin Hongyu insisted, his gaze earnest as he looked at the girl who was avoiding eye contact. He gently placed his hands on her shoulders, offering words of encouragement.

“Okay! I’ll try,” Bo Miaojiao conceded, unable to win the argument with Qin Hongyu. She approached the Spirit Summoning Pearl and delicately placed her hands upon it.

After a brief pause, just as Bo Miaojiao was about to withdraw her hands, the Spirit Summoning Pearl burst into a brilliant red glow, reminiscent of an untouchable, scorching flame.

The red light stood in stark contrast to Qin Hongyu’s white glow. It wasn’t as blinding, but it was like a true flame, emitting an intense heat that was almost too much to bear.

In mere seconds, the wooden podium that displayed the Spirit Summoning Pearl was ablaze!

“Oh my god! It’s on fire! Hurry… put it out!” the homeroom teacher exclaimed, witnessing the podium catch fire in an instant. It was his first time facing such an incident, and he was momentarily thrown into disarray.

Despite the chaos, he was an experienced adult. As others stood in shock, he awkwardly grabbed the never-before-used fire extinguisher nearby and fumbled to release the safety pin.

“Classmate Shen, get out of the way!” he called out, his voice tinged with panic.

Qin Hongyu swiftly swept Bo Miaojiao, who was still dazed by the podium, into his arms, sparing her from the cloud of white powder from the dry powder extinguisher.

Once the other students snapped to their senses, they scrambled to help extinguish the fire. Thankfully, the flames didn’t spread, and the situation was quickly brought under control.

The once pristine podium, however, had suffered the consequences, now charred into a lump of blackened wood.

“Oh my god… I never imagined our class would have three students with the Battle Spirit Bloodline. My role as a class teacher has truly been worthwhile!”

After putting out the fire, the homeroom teacher slumped to the ground, visibly drained. With a complex look, he gazed at Bo Miaojiao and Qin Hongyu, his mind a whirlwind of emotions.

He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was on the brink of becoming a celebrity teacher. It seemed likely that every notable figure in the county would soon be vying to enroll their cherished sons in his class.

“Jiao, you truly possess the Battle Spirit Bloodline. I knew you had it in you!” Qin Hongyu exclaimed, his eyes alight with excitement as he turned to the flustered Bo Miaojiao.

“Right…”

But Bo Miaojiao wasn’t as thrilled as Qin Hongyu had expected; she merely offered a smile and a soft acknowledgment.

“Okay, three students from our class are eligible for the Martial Exam. Tomorrow, you three will meet at the school gate. All of our school’s candidates will head to Deepfell City to take the Martial Exam together. I’m hoping you all will sail through and officially join the ranks of the Battle Spirit Academy.”

The homeroom teacher then rose to his feet, brushed off the white powder from his clothes, and addressed the trio.

In unison, they nodded, confirming that they would indeed be at the school gate early the next morning.

“Make sure to get some rest tonight. Be at the school gate by seven sharp tomorrow—no tardiness, especially you, Feng. No more oversleeping!”

The homeroom teacher made a point of stressing the time and singled out Qin Hongyu, who had a habit of arriving late.

Qin Hongyu, a bit sheepish, grinned and said, “I’ll set ten alarms for tomorrow. I won’t be late, I promise!”

“You’re as smooth-talking as ever. It’s no surprise Bo Miaojiao is so fond of you!” The homeroom teacher teased, tapping Qin Hongyu’s forehead before leaving the classroom with a smile.
