Chapter 928 A mission from the celestials
Chapter 928 A mission from the celestials
( A few hours ago, Odin )
One of the dangers of using [ Soul Devour ] was that without a memory filter the brain of the recipient would be flooded with the memories and life experiences of the soul they were devouring which would lead to a split personality at best or a complete brain failure at the worst.
Seraphiel had warned Max against this danger and told him to always keep Drax as the medium which was the only reason behind why Max had waited as long as he did to take down Dracula.
In reality, Drax would have never chosen to betray Max, however, with a slight nudge from the perfect warrior using [ Alter Reality ] and Drax decided that his desire to obtain a permanent physical body was justified as he abandoned Max's side to filter the information and rather focused on claiming Dracula's body for his own.
However, this meant that Max was now to face the horrors of Soul Devour alone and if the message that the perfect warrior sent to Odin was true, then Max had just 30 days to be saved.
At the end of their discussion once Odin suffered a small part of the perfect warrior's karmic backlash, the perfect warrior issued a mission for Odin which the soulmancer could not turn down.
Although it could possibly be a trap for Rudra, Odin had no choice but to complete the mission as instructed by the perfect warrior as he was forced to heartlessly steal the time seed from the time chamber controlled by the True Elites and The Bloodfall clan and rush towards the Rajput Capital where Rudra was in isolation.
The message that the perfect warrior had asked to pass along to Rudra was - " Master the 7 seeds within the next 30 days and I shall save your brother's life "
It was not a stretch to assume that if Rudra could not do what the perfect warrior wanted him to that Max would be reduced to a vegetable, however, it could also be a trap.
Maybe Max's coma was not permanent and if Rudra took the perfect warrior's challenge, then he would be reduced to a brain dead comatic patient just like Max, eliminating both the future opponents to the perfect warrior's reign of terror.
Maybe Rudra failed the challenge and after Max woke up, the perfect warrior would play the younger brother to save the older one.
Either way, the celestial was playing a dirty game and Odin felt disgusted to do his bidding, but since he was his soulmancer and oathbound to follow his instructions he could only helplessly knock on Rudra's doorstep, begging for an audience with the supreme lord of the controlled universe.
***********
( Present day )
For a moment, Odin could not recognise Rudra when the universal queen let him in the isolated chamber.
The usually charismatic and strong supreme lord now looked like a dystopian street beggar as Odin felt a completely different sense of fear when he looked at him.
Out of his two omnipotent blue eyes, one had a white background like a normal humans, while the other had turned pitch black giving him a split-eye look that was very unnerving to watch.
His hair were haggard and looked like they had been pulled out of the scalp by Rudra himself at certain areas while his clothes were in complete rags.
If 'madness' was a disease this was exactly how a patient suffering from it would look like as Odin quaked in his boots just to imagine what the universe would look like if Rudra Rajput truly turned mad.
The only saving grace was the fact that Rudra still had the shiny lustre of intelligence in his eyes that looked at Odin with scepticism which gave the old god some hope as to Rudra not being too far gone.
" Speak- " Rudra said with authority as Odin began narrating his tale frankly before Rudra, telling him every detail from how the perfect warrior interrupted the universe and suffered a karmic backlash, to how he targeted Max to put him under a coma.
As he began narrating his story, he could see Rudra's emotions undergo a full spectrum of changes as the tier10 barrier separating him from Rudra trembled violently just from the wrath of his aura.
Odin felt sweat drip down his back when he realised that Rudra had grown unbelievably stronger than the last time he had seen him as his current strength had reached a point where his aura alone rivalled a tier8 attack which was absolutely insane to just think about.
Usually, not even the low ranking tier8 attacks could make a tier10 barrier tremble, however, Rudra could do so with just his aura alone which was just more reason for Odin to believe that if anyone had a shot to defeat the perfect warrior it was Rudra.
Never had he ever seen another individual coming even close to what Rudra was capable of doing as a monarch and it was at this moment that Odin had decided that he would risk it all to help Rudra overcome this challenge, even if it meant that he would die as the outcome.
As he narrated the tale to its completion and completed his entrusted mission of letting Rudra know about the condition to save Max, a golden system panel popped in front of Rudra's face with the text label written as
[ Celestial Quest - ]
Rudra laughed a maniacal laughter reading the text as he looked towards the heavens and let out a primal roar of frustration and anger.
It wasn't that Rudra did not understand that the perfect warrior was trying to play him like a pawn, it was that he felt a million different conflicting emotions at once however did not have any way to let them out.
He had given up on his family needing him. He had accepted his fate as an outcast that needed to ascend and leave everything behind.
He had accepted that Max would be a better leader for the family and had entrusted the control of the queen to him after he ascended, trusting his brother to be better and kinder than him.
However, just before he could attain detachment the celestials played a prank on him and put him in a situation where only he could save his brother, making him feel important once more.
The sly perfect warrior knew precisely what he was doing as the text underneath the celestial quest was deliberate and provoking.
[ Celestial Quest - You Rudra Rajput have done it all.
You have become the supreme lord of the universe, the undisputed strongest warrior of them all and are ready to ascend to the celestial realm.
However, your little brother has now fallen into a coma and the only way to heal his mind is to complete one last quest that is next to impossible.
You are on the verge of madness by trying to contain the power of 6 seeds at once, however, the perfect warrior implores you to go beyond madness and tame 7 at once.
If you manage to tame 7 seeds of power within the next 30 days, the perfect warrior promises to heal your brother for you. However, he shall die if you fail.
Does the strongest guild master have it in him to perform this one final quest with everything on the line?
Quest Reward - Healing Max + ?????
Failure Penalty - Death of Max Rajput
Do you wish to accept the quest?
Yes
No
Note- Rejecting the quest will result in automatic failure. ]
Rudra stared at the glowing red and golden system screen with hatred as he grit his teeth and pressed ' yes ' despite his better judgement.
Since the celestials wanted to fuck him over, he would show them exactly why he was called the strongest guildmaster.
