Manaless Mage

Chapter 174 Basic In comparison

Chapter 174  Basic In comparison

"Arrrg!!" David grunted loudly in pain, as he felt a few of his bones shatter on impact, due to the force of the collision. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Fortunately, the floor of the stage had been strengthened with powerful runes and artifacts, so despite the huge power behind the crash, no cracks appeared on the surface.

The runes didn't affect the spells of the Elementalists fighting on the stage in anyway, neither did it affect combat mages also.    It only strengthened the stage, making it impervious to spells and attacks from those below Stage five.    So basically, no one below the stage five mana core stage could make a dent on the stage, meaning, no student in the academy could damage the event stage.

The black haired Elementalist tried to hold unto his consciousness, but after struggling for a few seconds, he eventually passed out due to the huge amount of pain coursing through his body.

Wes's lips curved into a smug smile as he stared at the unconscious body of David.

"You did your best… but… you were never… a match for… me." He said in between heavy pants, with his back drenched with sweat.

'That spell was really a pain.' Wes thought with a slight frown on his face. Casting that spell definitely took a large chunk of his mana and also his stamina, in fact with how tired he was now, he doubted he could properly cast even a tier one spell.

[And there we have our winner from the first group! Wes Silas!]

The commentator's voice rung through the hall, announcing Wes as the winner.

The moment the blonde haired student heard the announcement, a large smile crept up upon his lips and he raised his hands up into the air, causing the audience to erupt into loud cheers.

Every time, Wes continued to amaze them with his insane spell power, the last time he did something like this, and this time he did it again, with a completely different spell!

Meanwhile, Harry eyes lingered on Wes for a few seconds, with a weird expression on his face.

'The elite students, they all have such powerful spells.' He thought. While he was sure he would have been to block or at least dodge that cobra's bite spell, he still couldn't deny that the spell was very powerful.

So powerful that it would give even him problems.

Most of the spells he had seen the elite Elementalists use, could never be found in the academy's spell library. This was especially true with the ones above rank ten.

They were specially catered to by the academy, and provided with the best resources, with included not only powerful spells, but also good training equipments.

He wasn't jealous of the elite students in any way, since all their training equipment wouldn't even benefit him that much.    Well, he might if he didn't have the system, but with the system, he had even more than they did.

However, if his skills and the spells of the stage three Elementalists were compared, his were more "basic" in comparison.

Although his skills had already leveled up a lot, and most of them were now more or less on the same power level as tier three spells, they were still rather basic in nature.

Like lightning Ball, wind blade, lightning whip, and so on, most of them were just basic tier one or two spells, except that they had leveled up and become more powerful.

He wanted to get even more powerful skills, that were more than basic attacks.    He had the [Skill Shop] of the system, to purchase more skills and abilities, but the more powerful ones were just too expensive!

It was why he was saving up his skill points, so he could purchase skills from the system.

He needed at least 250 skill points to get a decent skill from the [Skill shop], but even after saving up skill points for more than two months, he had only gathered a little over 200 skill points in total.    'All in due time… I'll definitely get enough skill points to purchase a powerful skill!' Harry thought, the edges of his lips curling into a slight smile.    For now, his goal was to get into the elite rankings. By becoming an elite student, not only would he qualify to take part in the upcoming world tournament, but he would also gain the opportunity to learn even more powerful skills!

It was basically a win-win situation for him.    From what he had noticed, out of all the top fifteen students in the academy, Wes was the one who liked showing off the most. He was also the most arrogant.

Except from Trent and Wes, none of the others top ten Elementalists used any flashy spells during the first stage of the event.    They didn't even cast any tier three spells, only limiting themselves to their two spells.

And while Trent did his to end the team match quicker, Wes did his either to show off or simply out of arrogance.

It was clear that most of them were keeping their powerful spells a secret, hoping to use them as a trump card in the later stages of the ranking event, which Harry had to admit was a smart choice.    He was quite eager to face them, to see how he would fare against them.   The top elites were also putting him in their lists, each of them registering him as a threat after seeing how he easily eliminated Ria, who was also an elite student.   After a few seconds, the cheers of the audience died down, and another set of names appeared on the holographic yellow board.

Harry's gaze moved towards the board, and his eyes widened slightly when he saw the names displayed on top of the board.    'Susan Grey… and one more student in the top twenty five rankings.' Harry thought.

This particular group caused the audience to erupt  into another round of cheers and murmurings, every person eager to see the rank one Elementalist in the academy fight.
