Chapter 225 Black Envelope
Inside the luxurious five-star hotel room, Vincent entered a meditative state, his mind focused solely on sensing the location of the fragment.
Unlike the previous ones he had collected, this fragment was actually within the city itself, and he could feel its energy moving.
In the past, the fragments had been concealed beneath the ground, making their detection more challenging. But this time, with it moving within the city, it presented both an opportunity and a new level of difficulty.
"It's really moving," His bewilderment was evident as he stood up and sat down on the bed.
"This is really unexpected. How can someone get it before me?" he pondered aloud.
The process of locating the fragments was undoubtedly challenging, and he was very familiar with the difficulty involved.
It was true that ever since he reached rank SSS, he no longer needed the assistance of the witches to magnify his sensing ability.
However, there was still a specific order he had to follow in acquiring the fragments. If he could somehow sense all of them simultaneously, he could easily enlist the help of others to collect them for him
But alas, that wasn't the case, and he had to diligently follow the trail of power from one fragment to the next. He couldn't help but contemplate how someone else had managed to jump ahead in the search, raising more questions than answers.
"I already asked Evangeline about the fragment, and she told me that she doesn't know much about it either. The fragment was Big Sister Elizabeth's plan, so she has no idea," Erika replied, settling onto the bed in her white nightdress.
"I'm more concerned about how someone managed to get it in the first place" he added.
"Don't worry about it.You can just forcefully take it. You can sense the fragment moving, right? So, it means that whoever took it doesn't know that you are searching for it," she replied.
"You make a valid point,"
Erika's idea had its merits, and Vincent couldn't deny the logic behind it. He did have the ability to sense the fragment's movements, giving him a high advantage in tracking it down easily .
Knock, knock, knock.
Their conversation was interrupted by a soft but distinct knock on the door. With their powers, Vincent and Erika had already sensed the presence of Isabella outside, confirming her identity even before they heard the knock.
"Come in," he called out.
As Isabella entered the room, Vincent couldn't help but notice her sexy appearance. She was wearing a daring black nightgown, which was see-through and accentuated her curves, making her presence even more captivating.
"I got this weird envelope " she raised her hands to show it.
Vincent's curiosity piqued as she approached closer, holding a black envelope in her hand.
Her choice of words, referring to it as a "weird envelope," only added to the intrigue.
"What do you mean by 'weird envelope'?" he inquired, reaching out to take it from her.
The envelope felt cool to the touch, and its black color exuded an aura of mystery. As he inspected it closely, he noticed intricate silver patterns adorning its surface, seemingly etched with great precision.
"That's the thing," she replied, her voice carrying a hint of confusion "I found it on the couch. I was sure that it was not there before, and it suddenly appeared."
"You did not notice anyone putting it there ? "Vincent's expression turned serious as he processed her revelation. If someone managed to sneak past her and deliver the mysterious envelope unnoticed, it raised significant concerns.
"No, I should have also sensed it if someone entered this place," he squinted his eyes.
The fact that this mysterious individual could conceal their presence from a powerful Rank SSS like him was both impressive and deeply alarming .It meant that they were dealing with someone possessing a level of stealth skill that surpassed even his own detection.
"An old god perhaps?" Vincent muttered to himself, his mind racing as he recalled the existence of these ancient beings from Fenrir's memory.
Zeus, the god of lightning in Greek mythology , was one such example—a powerful and ancient entity that had once been considered a peak existence in the world.
As he pondered the possibility, he remembered hearing from Evangeline on the phone about the old gods being hunted down in the past after Fenrir's death . Many had succumbed to the hunt, but there were those who were strong enough to survive and endure.
This was also the reason why humans were able to dominate this world. The deaths of the old gods made the overall firepower of the supernaturals weaker and stagnant for thousands of years.
Erika, who had been listening intently to their conversation, chimed in, "If it's indeed an old god, then we could be dealing with an incredibly powerful one "
"I agree. There's a high chance that it's really an old god," Isabella replied, her expression thoughtful. "I mean, I've even met Lucifer before in Los Angeles when Mother Evangeline went to visit him."
"That devil is still alive?" Erika exclaimed, her surprise evident. Evangeline had never told her about Lucifer, the god of hell.
Vincent's mind briefly returned to his encounter with Lucifer, a god of immense power and ancient wisdom. Their interaction had been minimal, but the memory of that formidable being lingered in his thoughts.
In that encounter, Lucifer was in a weakened state while Fenrir was at its peak. Despite this, Fenrir had only managed to achieve a draw in the battle, showcasing just how strong Lucifer truly was.
"Is Lucifer our ally or not?"Erika asked Isabella.
"I don't know, but it seems that he was working with Mother Evangeline," Isabella answered, carefully choosing her words. However, she decided not to mention the soul contract, as she considered it a private matter concerning Evangeline.
"Let's discuss that topic at a different time. For now, let's open this envelope first," Vincent suggested, shifting the conversation away from their thoughts on Lucifer.
He was curious to discover the contents of the mysterious envelope.
"You're right," Erika agreed.
With a nod , Vincent carefully examined the seal on the black envelope. He quickly realized that it was no ordinary seal and that opening it through conventional means would be futile.
However, thanks to the memories of Fenrir, he now possessed valuable knowledge on how to deal with this type of seal.
Taking a deep breath, he focused his energy and allowed it to flow in a controlled manner.
He knew that breaking the seal required precise manipulation of his powers because forcing it would only ruin the content.
Drawing upon the wisdom of Fenrir, he completed one cycle of energy flow, and as expected, the seal began to weaken until it eventually disintegrated
The envelope was now open, revealing its mysterious contents. Inside, there was a single sheet of paper with a message on it.
"The fragment is in my hands. If you have the ability, try to take it from me, young one. I'll be waiting for you at this location," the message reads.
"Interesting " Vincent chuckled as he read the message in the letter.
It was a direct challenge, and the sender was taunting him with possession of the fragment. The words were bold, and the message exuded an air of confidence.
