Chapter 247: Chapter 247 - A High-Stakes Confrontation with the Demon
Broken quickly prepared to summon Gaia if the situation worsened. This was clearly a Named Demon, and while its rank was relatively low, in the 60s, its level of 227 made it
unpredictable. He had no idea what this demon cat was capable of.
The demon cat sat and stared at them with a sharp gaze. "I see you're having trouble, meow?"
There had to be a reason why the demon appeared, even though the trial wasn't finished yet. And it showed up right after a new challenger joined the Trial. But this was truly unexpected -Broken didn't anticipate encountering a Named Demon so soon.
He immediately sent messages to Freya and Maylock, updating them on the situation. Maybe they had more information about this Duke Flauros.
"I'm a Named Demon, ranking 64, meow... I'm very powerful... I know you must be terrified just hearing my name, right, meow?" the cat taunted.
"You're a Named Demon, but I see you're not fully summoned to Yunatea. You've stayed here in this Trial Domain," Broken replied. "Does that mean you'll be released if we fail to complete the Trial?"
"You're quite smart for someone with such a low level, meow." Flauros responded. "But, what kind of cheating did you use to enter this domain? Are you some sort of divine champion, meow?"
So the cat knew Broken's level, indicating he shouldn't be in this Trial Domain, which was restricted to level 200 and above. Alora turned to Broken, surprised to hear that his level wasn't high enough to enter the domain.
"This Trial Domain is designed to be impossible to complete, meow. So your fate is sealed to stay here forever," Flauros continued with a sinister grin.
"We will kill you, and the Trial Domain will end on its own," Broken said firmly.
"You're so funny, meow... How can someone with such a low level dream of killing me? There's no way; you will both soon die. And as a bonus, I get the Crowned Princess of Dissidia Kingdom in my bounty. I'm so happy, meow..."
[Vines of Torment (Active Skill)]
Broken cast a skill, and five massive vines sprouted from the floor, locking onto the cat demon and squeezing its body. However, the cat poofed into a shadow and reappeared nearby, untouched.
"MEOW! Can't you be a bit kinder to a cat, meow! I'm a ranked demon; show some respect to me!"
Ignoring the plea, Broken cast his dash skill and sped towards the cat.
"Broken!" Alora called out, rushing after him with her sword at the ready.
Broken dashed forward, attempting to strike the cat, but each time he got close, the cat would poof away and reappear elsewhere.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"You stupid human, don't you understand? Listen to what I'm saying or I'll kill you!" the cat shouted, now appearing on the other side of the arena.
Broken paused, then began walking calmly towards the cat, with Alora following closely behind.
"Why refuse to fight? Wouldn't the trial end faster if you killed me directly? Or would that ruin the ritual?" Broken asked, walking casually.
"Shut up, meow... I just don't want to deal with foolish humans! Listen to what I have to say!" Flauros demanded.
Switching to The Wavebreaker Spear, Broken unleashed his skills. Waves surged through the arena, rolling towards the cat, and spears rained down, flooding the space and targeting the cat demon. Yet, the cat demon continued to dodge and teleport around the arena, deftly avoiding the onslaught.
As the attack ended, the cat demon stood with a threatening posture. "Humans who don't know their place will be killed miserably. You should listen to what I say, MEOW!" it said firmly.
Broken smiled slightly at the cat's response.
"Do you really want to confront the cat right now, Broken?" Alora whispered.
Broken gave a calm nod at her. In reality, he had previously explained his situation to Maylock. This was the response he received from them.
[Maylock: "Every Trial Domain is designed to be beatable, at least for anyone who enters with the appropriate level. If it's a level 200 Trial Domain, it should be completable by those at level 200 with proper preparation. There is no way the monsters will keep rising to levels like 290 or 300, because that would disrupt the balance of the Trial Domain.
If, in your case, you see the monster levels continually rise, I suspect something is wrong.
Flauros is a demon with Shadow element and illusion skills. If I were to guess, the high levels of the monsters you're fighting are just an illusion. Their actual levels aren't that high. They are made to look stronger to break their opponents' spirits.
But this is just my hypothesis. Please keep me updated on the monsters' levels in the next wave, and pay attention to the damage you can inflict on them and their strength. Are they really getting stronger, or are you guys weakening due to a lack of resources or psychological strain?"]
"What do you want to say?" Broken pressed.
"So, you're finally willing to listen, huh? Meow?" Flauros retaliated, his gaze turning threatening once more.
He continued, "I feel so sorry for the both of you. Such a promising crowned princess of Dissidia Kingdom, destined for a great future. It would be a tragedy for you to die so
miserably, wouldn't it, meow?"
Broken remained silent.
"You see, I'm not like those other demons. I'm a good guy. I came to Yunatea just to have fun, not to kill." He paused for effect. "I'm offering you a chance to leave this Trial Domain. But this is the last time; I won't grant the same mercy if I see you again, foolish human."
Broken smiled thinly at Flauros's words. "That's very kind of you. I didn't know demons could be so generous."
"Meow, what do you think we are? Heartless creatures? We're just like you, normal beings with daily lives and hobbies, meow."
"But what if I refuse your offer and decide to continue the Trial?"
"I doubt you're that foolish, meow. The monsters will keep leveling up, and you'll die a
senseless death," Flauros warned.
A silence fell between them for a few moments.
"Is he telling the truth, Broken?" Alora whispered, breaking the silence.
Broken reached out and took Alora's hand, a signal that he wanted her to trust his decision.
"So, you want me to trust and follow your decision," she said softly.
"What do you think, Princess?"
"You're putting too much at stake by gambling with the fate of the crowned princess of the Dissidia Kingdom."
"What if I manage to get us out of here safely? Will there be a grand reward for me?"
Alora paused, contemplating. "I wouldn't be alive if you hadn't come; so, whether you show up and we fail miserably or you never came at all, it's the same outcome for me. But if you succeed in saving me, I suppose that makes you worthy enough to claim me as your bride." Broken was stunned for a moment, then turned to her slowly, speechless.
"What do you think? Marrying the Princess of Dissidia Kingdom and the future ruler of the
kingdom?"
"This isn't the right time to joke, Princess."
"You sure are oblivious, aren't you? Do you think a royal like me would lie? But you need to
wait until I become the true ruler. What do you think? But first, make sure you don't make the wrong decision," she said, looking at him intently.
"Meow, I'm getting sleepy. What do you think? Please decide... what's your answer!" Flauros demanded impatiently.
