Chapter 241: Chapter 241 - Calculating the Demons’ Might
Chapter 241: Chapter 241 - Calculating the Demons’ Might
Broken's attention shifted to Ulrich, who lay on the ground. Yet, to his horror, Ulrich stood up again, his nearly severed head hanging grotesquely to one side. Slowly, it began to reattach itself, the sinews and veins knitting together with dark, bloody tendrils. Ulrich's body darkened, his skin turning a deep, ominous red. He had revealed his true form.
[Elite - Bloodfiend Ulrich Lv. 215]
"Kha kha kha kha..." Ulrich cackled shrilly.
"Damn, they're demons!" Broken gripped his spear tightly. It was clear that Ulrich was a demon. The others were likely demons, too.
"So, Alora was right. This foolish player also has a combat class," Tristan said, his voice high- pitched. "But I want to see just how strong he is."
The two city guards immediately spread out, encircling Broken from both sides, their spears pointed at him. Meanwhile, the demon Ulrich readied himself, his claws extending and shimmering with dark energy. Tristan, the magic caster, retreated, preparing to launch spells from a distance.
This was it-the real battle Broken had to face on his own. It was time to put all his training and preparations to the test. He tightened his grip on his spear, determination flaring in his eyes.
He had to kill these four demons-no matter what!
[Invincible Shields (Active Skill)]
Broken activated his skill, and earth-colored energy immediately formed, layering over his armor, ready to nullify any attack he received.
[Earth Elemental Protection (Active Skill)]
He activated another skill, adding an additional shield equal to 30% of his Health to his outer layer.
He spun his spear and readied himself, knowing this would be a tough fight. Yet, despite the danger, a thin smile appeared on his face. He felt a surge of excitement and anticipation coursing through him.
[Oceanic Blessing (Passive Skill)]
The passive skill from the Wavebreaker Spear enveloped Broken in an aura of energy that ignored 50% of the enemy's defense and reduced incoming damage by 20%. Additionally, it had a chance to summon an oceanic spear to deal an extra 200% damage, and each attack slowed the target's attack speed by 20% for 0.5 seconds.
The first guard charged, aiming to strike Broken with his spear. Broken readied himself as the others also rushed at him. He spun his spear, parrying the first guard's attack.
[Spear Guard (Conditional Passive Skill) Lv. 1]
The impact sent the first guard reeling backward, a large gash appearing on his chest armor. [Dash (Active Skill)]
Broken activated his Dash, swiftly dodging the second guard's attack. He spun his spear and slashed at the guard's left side, leaving a wound.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
[Spiral Pierce (Conditional Passive Skill) Lv. 1]
An additional spear materialized in the air, delivering a similar strike to the second guard— an effect triggered by Oceanic Blessing.
The battle was far from over. Broken maintained his distance, using Dash whenever he had the chance. Ulrich attacked with speed, his claws aiming to tear through Broken's defenses. Broken continuously spun his spear, parrying each strike with precision and agility. Though he was still getting used to the intricate movements, he slowly began to adapt, finding his rhythm with the spear.
The two guards advanced from opposite directions. Broken parried the assault for the first guard, but a blow from behind struck his neck. Fortunately, his Invincible Shields absorbed the impact, nullifying any damage.
Determined to stay in control, Broken nimbly leaped backward, utilizing his Dash ability each time it became available. Though he persistently sought openings to strike, he found himself ensnared in a relentless dance of dodging and parrying.
With a rapid flick of his wrist, he executed another flawless parry against the first guard, sending the attacker reeling backward.
They clashed fiercely for several moments, but it was clear that Broken was struggling to fend off attacks from three opponents at once. He took a few hits, and slowly but surely, the layers of his Invincible Shields skill were being worn down.
Summoning his skill, he activated [Groundbreaker (Active Skill) Lv. 1].
Broken slammed his spear into the earth, the force causing it to split open and knock the second guard off balance. Ulrich, who had been charging towards him, was also caught in the seismic upheaval.
[Chain-Strike (Conditional Active Skill)]
[Chain-Strike chance successfully triggered]
A series of powerful shockwaves erupted from beneath Broken, launching waves of energy toward the second guard and Ulrich. The ground pulsed with destructive force, each blow hitting its mark five times in quick succession. This time, Ulrich didn't emerge unscathed; fresh wounds marked his body, evidence of the fierce damage inflicted.
This was Broken's moment to counterattack. However, he quickly noticed the first guard swinging a spear from the right. Unable to mount an offensive, he opted for a parry. Unfortunately, his Invincible Shields had worn off. The impact sent him sprawling across the ground, tumbling wildly until he collided with the massive door behind him. The blow was powerful, leaving him reeling, though Invincible Paragon ensured he remained unharmed.
In this fleeting opportunity, Broken could have activated Invincible Force Reflection to hurl the attack back at his enemies. However, the pace of the battle left him overwhelmed, with the rapid onslaught and multitude of skills needing precise timing.
This was his first encounter with intelligent creatures wielding such strategic prowess. Unlike the feral monsters he had faced before, these adversaries attacked with coordination, meticulously probing for any weakness in his defense. Their calculated strikes continually tested his resolve, keeping him on the edge of his capabilities.
They were tough! That was all Broken could think.
Yet, instead of fear, a thrill surged through him-a sense of exhilaration! He loved to fight, and in moments like these, he felt truly alive. Every cell in his body seemed to awaken, and he wanted nothing more than to indulge in the battle all day long.
Regaining his footing, he made sure everything was intact. His Mana was gradually replenishing. He hadn't expended much on high-demand skills, so his reserves were still in good shape.
Maintaining a cautious distance, he noticed his enemies were also holding back momentarily, not pressing their attack immediately. He was eager to dive back into the fray but knew he needed to conclude this quickly.
Summoning Gaia was out of the question for now; the cooldown for her summoning was one hour. He needed Gaia to assist Alora inside and couldn't afford any mistakes now. Thus, he had to reserve her for a more critical moment.
Having observed and endured his opponents' attacks, Broken now had a firm grasp of their strengths. With renewed confidence, he felt ready to unleash his full might against them. He noted with some relief that Tristan had yet to step in to aid his comrades. This was a strategic advantage-if he could incapacitate these three first, he'd have a better shot at confronting Tristan, who seemed the most formidable of the group.
"Now you're getting serious?" Tristan taunted, his laughter echoing through the air. "Show us everything you've got before we kill you and send you away from here. Then we'll prepare the death feast for the Princess."
"No," Broken retorted, a smirk curling his lips. "Facing you lot doesn't require my full seriousness. You are strong, I'll give you that, but you're not that smart," he said with a
confident edge to his voice.
Tristan's laugh rang out, a sound filled with smug assurance. "Then show me what you've
got, asshole!"
"Polly," Broken murmured quietly. In an instant, Polly emerged in her battle form, her four
tails glowing brilliantly.
"Master, I'll fight for you..." Polly whispered.
"Polly, I need you to deal with these bastards," Broken replied.
"Alright, Master..." Polly answered softly.
Broken drew the Moonvine Knuckles. "Dendros!" he called out.
[Summon the Guardian (Active Skill)]
An explosion of verdant energy burst forth. Dendros appeared rapidly from the air like a torrent of vines and flora, coalescing into a formidable warrior forged from plant matter. The guardian equipped itself with the knuckles, ready to fight alongside Broken.
"Alright, I'm ready now," Broken said more seriously.
Polly cloned herself, duplicating into six copies that quickly spread out, ready to attack from all directions. Polly was exceptionally skilled against magic-type users, so her focus was on keeping Tristan occupied and preventing him from interfering in the fight.
Dendros sprang into action, dashing forward with his Moonvine Knuckles ready to smash
their enemies.
Broken allowed a thin smile to creep onto his face as he spun his spear, ready to unleash a
barrage of skills from the Wavebreaker Spear.
The air crackled with energy as Broken prepared to unleash the full force of his abilities,
bracing himself for the battle ahead.
[Ocean's Wrath (Active Skill)]
[Sea of Storms (Active Skill)] [Boar's Flood (Active Skill)]
