Chapter 195: Chapter 195 - Wheels or Work?

The neatly dressed salesperson kept a careful eye on the streets while tidying up the showroom for the day. Suddenly, a yellow taxi pulled up just outside, catching his attention. His eyes widened in surprise as a young man and a young girl stepped out from the cab.

"I don't remember this place hiring," he thought to himself.

"A customer?" a female salesperson next to him asked. "It's your turn, Eric."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Eric sighed, "Are you kidding? Customers don't come in taxis. They usually show up in fancy cars."

Lia patted Eric on the back. "Remember the older man in a tracksuit who came in a few days ago? You ignored him, but I treated him well, and he ended up buying a car that same day." Eric sighed again and clicked his tongue. "Yeah, I learned my lesson from that. Next time an old guy in a tracksuit shows up, I'll treat him well. But two well-dressed young people arriving in a taxi? Maybe they're here to apply for a job."

Slowly, Eric walked towards the entrance as the glass door opened. Squinting his eyes, he realized the man's face looked familiar.

"Leon? What is he doing here?" Eric exclaimed just as Leon and his sister entered the store.

Eric and Leon had been high school classmates, and Eric remembered how poor Leon had been growing up. Now, out of the blue, Leon was sharply dressed in expensive, neat clothes, with his sister looking lovely in her dress. What could they possibly want at a luxury car store? Begging?

"But... I didn't know Leon's sister was so pretty," Eric muttered.

He approached them, his expression stern, and asked, "What are you doing here, Leon?"

Leon recognized Eric immediately.

"Do you know him, Leon?" Lily whispered.

Leon nodded and addressed Eric. "I made an appointment with the store manager. Is he here yet?"

Eric sighed and tried to reason, "Please leave, Leon. Don't pull a prank here. You know this is a luxury car store, right?"

Ignoring Eric, Leon grabbed Lily's wrist and tried to walk past him, but Eric blocked their way. "Didn't you hear me? We're not hiring right now, and there's no point meeting the manager. Leave before I call security. You're just embarrassing yourself," Eric said, pressing the issue. Eric then patted Leon's shoulder. "How did you even afford clothes like this, huh?"

Lily, who had been watching in disbelief, quickly spoke up. "We received an invitation directly from the owner of this car store," she said. "So the store manager must know about this."

Hearing Lily's words, Eric suddenly couldn't hold back his laughter. He tried to suppress it but failed. "An invitation from the owner? What? Seriously... ha!" he stifled his laughter. "That's not funny. Do you really think the owner has time to waste? Who do you think you are?"

At that moment, one of Eric's colleagues, Lia, approached. "Eric, I think they are special guests from the Boss. Let me talk to the manager."

But Eric refused, saying, "No need, I know him. I know he's not important, so don't waste time, Lia." He turned back to Leon. "Leon, please go. I feel sorry for you, don't embarrass yourself."

Lia then invited Leon and Lily, "Please, come with me," she said.

"Wait, what?" Eric looked annoyed as Leon and Lily followed Lia towards the luxurious- looking waiting room of the car store. The large room was filled with various types of parked cars, each one more luxurious and tempting than the last.

Leon and Lily sat down in the elegant waiting room while the female salesperson treated them with respect. "Please wait a moment. I've contacted the manager. He'll be here shortly."

"Thanks," Leon replied, and the woman walked away.

Lily leaned in and whispered, "Why do all your high school classmates have such bad attitudes?" She giggled softly. "First, your store manager, and now this one."

Leon sighed and leaned back in his chair. "If I were in his shoes, I'd probably do the same. I mean, who would believe an orphan, poor kid suddenly showing up at a luxury car store claiming to have an invitation from the owner? It does sound like a joke."

Lily giggled at his words, finding the irony amusing.

"Ck!" Eric grumbled, making no effort to hide his disdain as he moved closer to the entrance. For some reason, he was irritated by the way Lia treated everyone like they were special. She should use more logic, he thought. But then, as if on cue, the store manager's car arrived, and Eric felt a spark of excitement.

A few minutes later, the manager walked briskly towards him. "Eric, are the special guests that the big boss invited here yet?" Lars, the store manager, asked.

"Who are the guests?" Eric replied, puzzled.

Lars immediately looked across the waiting room. Spotting Leon and Lily, who matched the description he had been briefed on, he exclaimed, "There! Those are the special guests."

Without hesitation, Lars rushed past Eric, even bumping his shoulder in his haste, and hurried over to greet Leon and Lily.

"Wait, what?" Eric frowned, still in shock. "Special guest? Leon?" He followed the store manager, struggling to understand. "How? How did Leon become a special guest? Is the store hiring new employees?"

Lars, the store manager, appeared before Leon with a broad smile. "Good morning, Mr. Leon Chambers," he greeted warmly.

Leon and Lily stood up, and Lars shook Leon's hand with genuine warmth.

"I'm here for our scheduled appointment," Leon began.

"Of course," Lars responded, still beaming. "My name is Lars, by the way. Apologies for my tardiness; I'm the store manager for this branch. Today, I'll personally assist you in finding your dream car. I'm incredibly excited to help."

Lars then glanced behind him, spotting Eric nearby. He quickly grabbed Eric's shoulder. "Eric, please prepare drinks for our guests," he instructed before turning back to Leon and Lily. "What would you like to drink?"

Leon smiled politely. "Just some mineral water, thank you."

Lars nodded and directed his attention back to Eric. "Eric, please arrange some drinks and a variety of refreshments for them immediately," he said, gently nudging Eric away.

Eric remained rooted to the spot, a perplexed expression on his face. "I know him; he's a classmate from high school," he explained.

"Really?" Lars replied, raising an eyebrow. "You know Leon? Well, you must be proud to have a classmate who's on the path to becoming quite famous," Lars chuckled. Turning his focus back to Leon and Lily, Lars said, "Please follow me, Mr. Leon, and Ms?"

"Lily," she interjected with a smile.

"Ms. Lily, it's a pleasure," Lars responded, leading them deeper into the showroom. Eric watched as Leon and the manager strolled around, inspecting the cars with keen interest. "What the heck is going on here?" he asked, turning to Lia, who was walking beside him.

"You idiot, Eric," she replied. "That man has struck a deal with the Boss. As a reward, he's allowed to pick any car he wants today."

"What?! No way!" Eric exclaimed in disbelief. "What kind of deal is that? Why didn't you tell

me earlier?"

"At first, I wasn't sure if it was them. You really are quite oblivious, aren't you? I bet you don't even know about Immortal Legacy," she said with a smirk.

"Of course, I know about it! I play the game too. Do you think I'm an idiot? I have enough money to afford the capsule device," he retorted.

"Then I guess you should pay more attention to the news associated with the game," she added with a knowing look.
