Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 877 Acquisition (17)

Chapter 877 Acquisition (17)

The Imon-spawn was obviously Kyran, disguised as Nar.

Everyone's reaction was reasonable. After all, none of them knew of his existence and relationship with the Eidums because Gaham decided not to include his information in the last report sent to the capital.

The two aides that came out of the castle raised their hands and summoned their Divine Armament: a blazing boomerang, and a snow rapier.

"An Imon-spawn," the aide using the snow rapier brandished his weapon. "There had been rumors about your existence for far too long, yet none were able to confirm them. Why do you appear now? And why do you dare provoke Armakea—?"

Before the aide could even finish what he was saying, the Imon-spawn disappeared.

"!"

The other aide sensed something amiss and immediately shouted, "Duck!"

The aide with the snow rapier did not need to be told twice because he also sensed an incoming danger and immediately lowered his body.

At the same time, the other aide heaved his blazing boomerang and cleaved it horizontally just inches shy of where the other aide stood.

The corner of Kyran's lips tugged slightly as he appeared right where the aide aimed the blazing boomerang. Although the aide's movement was fast, Kyran could easily dodge it— regardless if he warped or used the Dragon Steps.

But Kyran did not dodge. To be precise, he could not be bothered to dodge. At that moment, he only wanted to do one thing and that was to destroy the King's aides' confidence by showcasing his overwhelming advantage in terms of natural defenses.

BAM! CRACK! SHATTER!

"Gah!"

The aide's blazing boomerang slammed right through Kyran's body and shattered in an instant. Following the boomerang's collapse, the aide received a devastating blow and coughed up blood. After that, he fell to his knees and passed out cold.

"What—?"

The other aide who ducked only heard what transpired but he sensed the looming threat behind him did not recede. He twisted his body while still in a crouching position and struck his snow rapier at the Imon-spawn.

SHATTER!

"Gah!"

The aide's snow rapier was far more fragile than the blazing boomerang. Because of this, the moment it struck Kyran's leg, it shattered into pieces.

The aide spat out a mouthful of blood as his mind reeled in disbelief. Not even a minute had passed and both of them were defeated? How was it possible? More importantly, how did his Divine Armament shatter just like that?

Unfortunately, the aide could not dwell on his thoughts because, like the other aide, he passed out cold.

Knights were trained to control their emotions. But at that moment, all of them were thunderstruck at what they witnessed.

Frankly, they did not even witness any real action. They only saw the two aides striking their Divine Armaments at the Imon-spawn before shattering— as if they were made of glass.

The durability of the snow rapier was one thing, but for the blazing boomerang, which was almost as big and tall as its owner to also shatter easily was truly shocking.

Kyran looked at the two aides lying on the ground and sighed. A few hours back, while he was looking at the King's castle from their temporary campsite, he had been mulling over how to deal with the King's aides.

In the end, he did not come up with any countermeasures and decided to go with the flow. He also thought that fighting the King's aides would allow him to understand how much his body had improved.

Alas, Kyran seemed to have found the most effective way to deal with the King's aides without dragging the fight.

Destroy their Divine Armaments so they would receive a devastating blow and lose consciousness.

As a matter of fact, aiming at a Divine Armament was an effective way to subdue any complete being. Unfortunately, the only one who might have the ability to do this was Kyran.

Wel... If Ames joined in the fray then she was another one.

Kyran looked at the aides indifferently while raising his hand. A dark purple disc appeared on the ground where they lay and their bodies started to submerge in it.

The knights snapped out of their reverie after they saw this. They did not sense anything from that dark purple disc, but it was precisely the reason they knew it was bad news.

Knights with range-type Divine Armaments released a volley of attack at once.

As for the melee knights, they did not dare approach and instead, they unleashed magic attacks without letting their Divine Armaments touch his body.

FOOM!

Without even looking at the incoming magic attacks, Kyran released his Void Domain.

In the blink of an eye, a thin translucent purple veil spread outward with him at the center. In a matter of a few seconds, the translucent veil covered a five-hundred-meter radius of the courtyard.

As soon as the translucent purple veil passed through the magic attacks, they disintegrated in the air.

The knights were rendered speechless at what transpired. They employed their armor's defenses but even those disappeared the moment the veil passed through their bodies.

What kind of attack was this veil? More importantly, how could an Imon-spawn be this powerful? Although the rumors about them mentioned their unparalleled strengths, what they were witnessing now was very different from their expectations.

The gap in their strengths should not be this huge!

If Kyran wanted, he could easily destroy the Divine Armaments of every knight in the courtyard using the Void Domain. He only needed to include a rule inside the domain, aiming at the knights' Divine Armament and destroying them.

However, doing this would mean their Divine Armament would be destroyed for good. When that happened, those knights would end up crippled, or worse, in a vegetative state.

That was something Kyran wanted to avoid. But if he destroyed their Divine Armament using pure raw strength, then there was still a chance for them to recover. It would take time, but at least, they would not be crippled.

Kyran picked another powerful aura, albeit injured, nearby. He pondered for a moment before adding a new rule inside his domain— seal the complete being's Divine Armaments.

Kyran did not come here to go on a killing spree. Thus, he was not keen on dealing with each knight present there.

Sensing that some of the knights were planning to run out of his domain's area of effect, Kyran made another rule: restrain the knights' movements.

For the record, the rules Kyran was adding to his domain were a feature he recently discovered.

Initially, he thought that the Void Domain's effect was solely to void the circulation of magic energies and summoning of magic attacks. After learning from Caelan the rest of the Void theories, Kyran discovered that the effects of the Void Domain were not limited to those two.

That was where the rules came into the picture.

Basically, the Void Domain was a free space unaffected by the rules of a plane or even realm. Kyran, as the master of that free space, could create rules and manipulate anything inside.

As a matter of fact, the voidance of magic energy circulation and magic attacks inside the domain were two rules that Kyran subconsciously created.

The Void Domain appeared very impressive at first glance. But in truth, it required a lot of magic energy to maintain. If Kyran discovered the Void Domain's rule feature before learning the rest of the Void theories from Caelan, he would have been reluctant to utilize it. But since he now had a better understanding of Void magic, Kyran was no longer afraid.

Before, Kyran was afraid to waste Void magic energy, especially because Somuli's natural production of magic energies was far too low. Now, he was no longer afraid.

To be precise, he now knew how to replenish his magic energy by utilizing the nature of Void. But that was a discussion for another time.

After restraining the movements of every knight inside the Void Domain, Kyran approached the owner of the injured aura he sensed.

"You're Filren," Kyran said the moment he stopped in front of Filren, who was still tied outside the courtyard.

Filren looked at him, without a trace of fear in his eyes.

Kyran could not help but smile at Filren's reaction. It was not an exaggeration to say that Filren was the only one left with a determined look in his eyes. Because there was already a trace of despair reflected in the eyes of the rest of the knights.

Even the two aides Kyran met, had a look of fear on their faces before they lost consciousness.

"I heard you're the second most powerful aide of the King," Kyran continued. "Seems like the gap between you and the two earlier is big."

Kyran said those things based on his observation, as well as the fact that Filren's Divine Armament was taken yet he remained calm.

Filren did not respond, but Kyran did not mind. He was not expecting a response, anyway.

"I am here to kill the King. Will you stand in my way?"

Filren finally showed some reaction after hearing his declaration.

"You will have to go through me first," he growled at him.

Others might think that Filren's threat sounded empty given his condition, but Kyran knew better. He believed Filren could easily break the chains that bound him and retrieve his Divine Armament. The only reason he stayed in the courtyard and suffered the king's punishment was because he wanted to take responsibility for his failure.

Kyran smiled, his eyes flickered as they turned silver, "Interesting."

As soon as he said that, two intertwined dragons appeared on the ground.
