Chapter 1122: Return (2)
Kyran did not know that Yazu had an excellent impression of him just from teaching him a new recipe for a healing potion and pill. If he knew, he would have told him that the new recipe was not new per se but something he learned from the Tower of Tribulations. He only altered some ingredients with the ones they got from the beast carcasses to increase their efficacy rate.
Luckily, the medicinal herbs needed for the recipe were primarily available in the alchemy room and were of excellent quality. If not, Kyran would not have used that recipe and would have opted to improve the quality of the ones concocted using Yuza's recipe.
Kyran successfully concocted nine saint-grade pills. Anyone with severe to critical injuries would recover after taking three of those pills.
Yuza did not want to waste such pills because he believed Kyran would not be able to concoct another set of nine saint-grade pills. Thus, he suggested diluting them into potions and having those with minor to moderate injuries drink them so they would recover immediately.
"That works too," Kyran agreed, but then said, "But using them for those with severe and critical injuries works better to make sure they would not suffer any backlash for being in pain for a long time."
"T-That's true, too... but... such high-quality pills don't come by easily. We have to use them efficiently," Yuza said. However, it was obvious from his expression that he would rather use them as Kyran suggested because he also did not want those with severe injuries to endure for a long time. Still, he knew they had to decide based on a long-term benefit rather than an immediate one.
If the number of injured recovered quickly, they could assist with the construction or exploration as soon as possible.
"I get what you mean, but the priority at the moment is to reduce unnecessary casualties. We have to deal with those suffering from severe to critical injuries first. As for those with minor to moderate injuries, I'll make a healing potion using what remaining ingredients we have that will not pale in comparison if we diluted the pills."
If Kyran's answer were heard from another perspective, it would not sound off. However, one would notice that a different point from Yuza's influenced his answer.
While Yuza's remark was influenced by his understanding that Kyran could only concoct saint-grade pills by chance, Kyran's answer was influenced by his understanding that Yuza was worried about wasting all those rare ingredients without healing everyone.
Yuza seemed to have noticed something was off by Kyran's answer, but before he could clarify any of his doubts, the latter had already started working on concocting healing potions.
"I'll make more of those pills after finishing this," Kyran continued without even noticing a change in Yuza's expression. "If you want, you can also try concocting it to understand its process better."
"I... Y-Yes... I'll follow your lead."
Resigning himself to the somewhat confusing situation, Yuza agreed without further question.
After three hours, Kyran successfully concocted high-grade healing potions that could easily supply the injured for two days.
Only after seeing this did Yuza finally realize what he found the disconnect in his remark to Kyran's answer from before. Luckily, he did not voice his doubts because he would have definitely sounded odd to Kyran.
"You... I heard you are far more proficient in Array from our Array Saints, but... for you to have such high proficiency in Alchemy as well... who are you?"
"I'll introduce myself properly when the time comes," Kyran replied, not even trying to evade Yuza's question. This also proved how much he liked the latter.
"You mean when they announce you as the new head of the clan?" Yuza asked with raised brows.
Kyran chuckled, "I'm not going to replace Geir. He is doing a good job leading the clan. Why would I replace him? Even if he has management issues, I'll have Uilleam find a suitable head of your clan."
"You're not going to become our head? But there are rumors circulating that you are our new head."
"That's just what it is. A rumor. I have my own clan... I'm not the head, but I want to focus on them."
Kyran did not give an elaborate response, but Yuza managed to guess he left unsaid.
Since Kyran wanted to focus on his clan, he could not be bothered to lead another clan. Still, Yuza was surprised to hear that Kyran was not the head of his clan. He was reminded of another rumor and found something amiss because of that.
"There is another rumor circulating that you are part of the Dragon Clan... but if that's true, why would you want to focus on them? Is there something wrong with your clan?"
"I'm not part of the Dragon Clan," Kyran replied with a sigh. He realized how many times he had said that, and it became a chore. "Then again, I'm not entirely unrelated to them."
Kyran did not know why he had no qualms about saying that to Yuza. Although he found the latter easy to talk to, that should not have been enough for him to share such delicate matters.
Yuza seemed to have realized Kyran had told him very sensitive information and immediately said, "Don't worry. I won't say anything about our conversation to anyone. The same goes for the new recipe you taught me."
"Uh... no— I mean... I appreciate you not saying anything about my relationship with the Dragon Clan, but as for the new recipe, please don't keep it to yourself. Properly teach the other alchemist and concoct more pills to ensure the recovery of the injured members."
"Oh," Yuza was rendered speechless. Other alchemists hated sharing their recipes with others. Even if those recipes were only an enhanced version of another, they did not want others learning them.
"I don't mind sharing the recipes I know with someone willing to learn," Kyran told Yuza as if reading the latter's thoughts. "Besides, it will also benefit me if you further enhance the recipe."
Yuza smiled wryly, "Suddenly, you are putting me under huge pressure, huh? Fine, I'll do my best to meet your expectations."
"That's good to hear."
The two talked some more for an hour before leaving the Alchemy Room to instruct the other alchemist and distribute the pills and potions.
By the time they were done, Kyran was already exhausted. He then retired to a makeshift room near the audience chamber and rested for a few hours. After he had rested, Uilleam visited him and reported the current updates to the construction and exploration.
Geir should have come in and reported those things, but Uilleam asked the older man to continue instructing the others instead. It was obvious that the latter was trying to affirm the former that he had no intentions of overriding his authority and responsibility as the Head of the Clan, even if Kyran appointed him as the Overseer.
Of course, Geir knew this and appreciated the younger man's intentions. He initially wanted to correct Uilleam's understanding but ultimately decided against it because it was best to let him talk with Kyran at this point—in case the latter had other instructions he wanted to give.
"...with how things are going, we expect the speed of the construction to increase by another 10%. Of course, with more injured members recovering faster than expected, they can provide additional manpower in the immediate future."
"Leave the injured out of the construction and have them focus on supporting the exploration side."
Uilleam looked at Kyran with raised brows, "Is there any particular reason you want them to focus on the exploration?"
"I think it is better for them to train their motor skills after being bedridden for a week or more by scouting the surrounding region rather than helping in the construction."
Kyran did not elaborate on his answer, but Uilleam understood what he did not say and nodded, "I see. They can also strengthen their foundation by joining the exploration group."
"Yes."
"Alright. I'll arrange everything as you suggested," Uilleam replied, writing something on his tablet. After that, he continued with his report: "On another note, we have noticed a transport ship landing near the marshland region."
"Seems like they have finally arrived," Kyran replied, seemingly unfazed at the report.
Uilleam nodded. He was similarly aware of the group Kyran had been waiting for for some time.
"We have yet to confirm their identity, but the signal from the transport ship resembles the one they once used when they visited the Blade Dancer Plane."
"They did tell me they had arrived near the plane's periphery the other day. They might have some issues entering without being detected. That's why it took them some time before they could land."
Uilleam looked at Kyran with a slight frown, "Are you not worried that someone might have hijacked their ship before landing?"
"I don't think anyone would be brave enough to dare hijack a ship with an Overlord onboard."
Uilleam's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, "Wait. You mean he came with her?"
Kyran raised his brows, amused at Uilleam's shocked expression, "Did you think I've only been negotiating with her?"
"T-That's..." Uilleam did think that. But hearing Kyran point that out made him realize how simple his thinking had been.
"It's fine. Tell Geir and the others to make proper preparations to receive them."
"I understand."
"And another thing. Keep an eye out for another transport ship. I had someone rescue and gather the remaining Blade Dancer Clan members and transport them here safely."
