Chapter 908: Training of siblings
[Quin's POV: ]
"You don't have to be angry at them anymore, Anna."
"Hump. They are bad. They lied to me, made fun of me, and all of them played with my feelings."
She was sitting with Zoe and me alone, in a different corner from the rest of them to show her protest over this situation.
She was angry about what happened yesterday even right now, she had not forgiven the rest of them that made fun of her.
"I really thought there's something I haven't told my big brother. He said it so seriously… I really am upset! Even mom! She was the one that started it! I know!"
The little girl was angry at the rest of her family. The cute anger of hers was strangely something the rest of them enjoyed so they weren't putting in any efforts to apologise to her.
They were just enjoying her unique anger that they found cute, just like every other thing that they found cute about this little one.
"I am upset. They will have to deal with it."
"Umm…"
I wanted to tell her how they were enjoying her anger and had no intention of apologising or even trying to convince her.
They were just going to enjoy it. Even Lucifer and Uriel said they were just going to enjoy her anger while it still lasted.
'They said she was rarely ever angry.'
Whenever something that made her angry happens, she acts all upset at first, then she avoids them– technically, she just avoids conversations with them and does absolutely everything else as normally as she does without talking with anyone.'
This anger of hers melts down on its own within a few days, sometimes not even taking a few days. And, they say it's just cute when she is angry.
'I can understand what they meant by it now that I'm seeing this myself. It certainly is something adorable.'
The way she has this redness on her face, the way she puffs her cheeks, the way she looks at them with her upset expression, the way she acts around them, and then how she starts going back to her normal self when they are not around… it's actually unexpectedly magical.
'They told me the truth of their identity yesterday, and along with it, they also told me a lot of things that the others did not know about.'
Things like how Uriel was actually a witch as well, how this little angel possessed a special gift– the special crystal eyes that I've only ever heard and read about, as well as how Lucifer actually could use magic.
And that too, magic much more powerful than both Elle, Alf, or even myself.
-Oooooooooooong!
I did not believe them when they told me that yesterday, so they were doing their 'usual' morning training in their underground arena.
-Boooooooooom!
Lucifer was going against Carla, Alfred, Chry, a big lizardman that they had here, and Uriel- who was using the magic of darkness attribute as well as scythe that she had just started using in the academy.
They were all attacking Lucifer and their attacks were so coordinated that it seemed like they all were pretty experienced with this.
They were fighting with the intention to kill– something that doesn't happen in the spears that we have in the academy.
They were fighting without restrictions.
Alfred was openly using strong (tier-4) spells, Carla was using all kinds of magical swords and full force of her Aura, Uriel was using Aura as well as magic that did not make any sense to me, and if that wasn't enough, the lizardman that was fighting alongside them exuded a kind of killing intent that even I was not familiar with.
Even Chry was fighting even more proficiently than how he had fought Captain Alpha in the last test we have had.
And all of this was directed towards only one person– their opponent who was using merely a magical bow, enchanted arrows and magic.
'And even though all of them were going against him in such coordination that even the most experienced teams, even the triplets from Wisdom Phoenix could not match… all of them were losing against him.'
Lucifer… Sir Axion was a magic archer.
We already knew how Lucifer had affinity with all six main elements and how He aspired to become a magic archer still, but we had not seen him use proper magic in the academy.
He was attending high magic theory class and was at the top of the class thanks to his special memory, but he was not someone who ever used the magic that he was so good at in theory in practical classes.
'Everyone had always thought he could not use magic in the first place.'
But that was not the case.
'He's a (tier-4) mage as well.'
And not just that, even though he is a (tier-4) mage, the kind of spells that he was using, the ultra-high super complex magic spells that I could not make heads or tales of, were all something so powerful that they could only hope to dodge when he attacked offensively.
'What was funny here though, was the fact that the spells that he was using were in fact merely (tier-2) spells.'
I can tell these spells would be something I would be able to use if I mastered the spell structure.
The only thing special about them was their complexity and how well they were weaved together.
'Actually, it was absurd how they were weaved.'
I've seen the best quality fabrics in the markets thanks to Med. I've seen how they are put through many, many complex processes just to be made into a cloth that would then be processed into clothing by the hands of a master tailor.
'Those things aren't something just any kind of tailor could handle.'
Just a little piece of those things cost several platinum coins. Not gold but platinum that was several times more costly than the gold.
'Just touching that kind of fabric was a privilege of the rich. Or royals and imperials who had a lot of money.'
I surely had money as well and could afford things like that but they were not something I wanted at all.
They were good things, but I was better off with what I already have. The simple thighs suit me better.
'Anyway, those super costly fabrics were what I would compare Lucifer's simple spells with.'
They were highly complex.
The kind of calculations one needed to do to cast these spells was absurd, and if that wasn't enough, these spells were of multiple elements.
'Winds that acted like fire, fire that was fluid, earth attacks that became wind, light that turned into darkness, even darkness that somehow turned into light.'
These were the kind of spells I was seeing for the first time.
They, from what I understood, belonged to the rare 'pure magic' section, a kind of magic that only those who were highly familiar with magic could use.
This was not simply magic at this point– it was the purest application of magic.
'I've seen this in the magic and weapon practice class.'
Our teacher used it once and showed us how elements were merely a form of medium for the spells or for the magic.
'Magic, in its essence, was something that was born from the changes in nature's Still form.'
When a mage had enough mental power, something that many people believe to be something fictional, and enough desire to change the world from its pure form, with enough understanding of spells and with enough energy input, the 'pure' magic was born.
'Among us, only Alfred had been pursuing this form of magic.'
He wanted to master it, but, from the looks of this battle that I was seeing right now, it seemed like Lucifer had already mastered this kind of magic.
And if that wasn't enough, he perfectly twisted those complex spells into something like an arrow and fired them like arrows— and his arrows didn't always travel in a straight line.
'His archery was strange both when he used these spell arrows or when he was using normal arrows.'
It was pretty strange, but at the same time, amazing…
"Do they normally fight like this?"
"All the time."
Zoe was happily caressing Anna's head who sat in her lap. Anna was enjoying their fight and though it was not something a child like her would usually enjoy, it seemed like she was well familiar with this sight.
"Wow… it seems like they will lose."
"Hmm? Lose?"
I couldn't help but be amazed at this kind of battle.
It was my first time seeing something like this. It was thrilling, and at the same time, something that made me a little scared.
But that made this whole thing even more fun.
"What do you mean they will lose, sister Quin?"
I was just admiring how Lucifer was on the winning end right now and how they might lose soon now.
But, to my simple comment, Anna expressed her astonishment.
"Isn't Lucifer- I mean Axion going to win?"
"Hmm? He will win against them in the warm up?"
"Warm up?"
"Yes?"
And the kind of surprised face she made at the end confused me more than she could imagine.
"They are just warming up right now. And besides, big brother is going easy on them. Don't you see they are all angry?"
"What…?"
She was saying all that she had seen until now was just their warm up?
Did that make any sense?
"Big brother is using some simple bow instead of his favourite ones, he isn't using Asta, he isn't even using his Aura yet. And the other's are also not using their full strengths either.
This is obviously just a warm up."
"...hun?"
What Anna was saying did not make any sense to me. At least, not until the entire flow of their fight changed all of a sudden and Carla and Uriel completely vanished from the battlefield.
"Oh, it seems like they are finally starting~."
What I saw until now was not something I had ever seen in my lifetime.
But, if it had just been their warm up…
-Swish! Swish! Swish!
-Oooooooooooooooong!
Just what kind of training do these siblings usually do?
