Chapter 1011 As the exam approaches
[Eon's POV: ]
Scrapping the group discussion idea for the end Semester exams, we all decided to just spend that particular day teaching one another in the academy's common training ground.
The importance of practicality was going to be obvious this time around from what we have learned, so fighting with one another and teaching each other some stuff was more beneficial for all of us than a useless gathering where I know we would have ended up wasting most of our time if not most of it.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
[{ "The headmaster didn't say much yesterday." }]
The training area in the academy is pretty big so most of us are fighting against one another in groups, or if the ones fighting were individuals like Luna and Hide, then they were the only ones fighting.
[{ "I know. But as he said, let's leave it to them this time as well. They had been making quite some progress with the cultists lately." }]
There was no one else around them either, just them and their spells and skills, their powers that were pretty much of a similar nature yet so distinct from one another that it was simply too easy to distinguish between them…
'Well, one was ice while the other was a unique form of ethereal water, but they were still pretty similar looking when seeing from a general perspective.'
Anyway, they were fighting and trying to teach each other something that only they could teach them.
There were many who were fighting big groups on their own in order to teach them something that they knew especially well. And, there were also a few who were teaching the others about the theoretical foundations of everything that they were doing here.
Notably, Carla was using her unique skill that contained nearly countless swords in a unique dimension and allowed her to swap between any of those swords at her will or take out as many of them as possible.
It was a kind of unique skill that might not seem like much when you don't think about the countless implications of this skill, and since this skill was also something that pretty much had fewer limitations compared to even most of the unique skills that one possesses, it was something that was invaluable when it came to utilisation.
'We had taught her for years now, so she knew what to do with that one unique skill that was unlike most of the skills available in the world.'
Not only sword swapping, now, with the other skills that she possessed, skills like {Telekinesis} and other unique skills that helped her utilise that one skill even better, she could now use her unique skill in more than a few ways.
'Right now, she was using that skill as a 'buffing' skill where she used the sword swapping function of the skill to swap between the unique swords in her arsenal which contained multiple swords with unique effect and was focusing the effects of those swords in a way that it seemed like she was practically being buffed by a high ranking support specialist mage.'
It was not something just anyone could do. She had learned this technique with blood, swears and tears.
'After all these years, she knew just how bad my training techniques could be. And she knew just how worse I had it when I was being taught all those things by my master, but the process in which she had found out about it had taken a few years.'
There were a lot of things that she still needed to learn if she wanted to be a Hero. But, more than practical or theoretical knowledge, she now needed more of the experience with actual battles that would make her better at using the skills and techniques that she had.
'Unlike us who were exposed to countless battles with beings like demons, the demonic nobles, actual Rakshasas, the evil cultists, people like the headmaster and the vice headmaster, even people like my master and the people that had taught Rein, Carla and Alf both had not had people who could teach them without holding back.'
And, even if we tried our hardest, being a family member, I know neither of the two of us, now our grandparents can go as hard on them as they want to.
But, that was not because of our bond or the relationship as family that we had. It was simply because we knew just how strong they were right now… as well as how great their potential was.
'Unlike our mentors who could precisely target the areas on which we needed to improve upon, when it came to Rein or me or our grandparents, with all the restrictions that we had as a 'family' as well as the fears that we might end up doing something that would cause problems for both of them, we could not bring ourselves to go as hard on them as we could do with people relatively unrelated to us.'
My training with Chry is relatively similar to what Alf and Carla experiences, but though they do not realise it, they innately know there is something about the personal training that we have.
Same with the training that I have with Miss Moon that they aren't even aware of, and the training that our grandparents have with us, or the training that they have with their closest disciples.
Its simply different even though they might not understand how it was different from the intense training that we have… even if we aren't in the zone when fighting against one another, there's still a distinct difference between the things that we want them to learn and the raw battle experience that we want them to have.
[{ She has improved a lot, master. }]
Celes had been with me ever since I started to teach Carla and even Alf who was teaching the others about the theoretical implications of all kinds of things that they do in battles.
And that theory wasn't limited to just the magical parts. He now knew as much about weapon fights as magic, and broadening his horizon had helped him improve his magic casting skills significantly.
'Ever since he met Uto, he had been improving even faster compared to Carla, and she knew that as well.'
But, unlike him who was getting worldly experience of being a parent, she and Beth, her unique horse familiar, were not in the same relationship as the two of them.
They were still learning about each other while the young Wyvern was teaching the young boy how delicate a young life was.
'Uto was a troublemaker, just like the rest of us. And as her papa as well as her master, Alf was learning a lot of things.'
That indirect experience was making him grow not just as a mage, but also as a person, and his relationship with Bell had helped him grow further.
'But the same could not be said for Carla who was still finding what she, as a person, needed, wanted, and could have as her own.'
She will improve rapidly when she finds even one of those answers but until then, she will have to rely on the skills and techniques that we have taught her… in her solid foundations that were not any less stubborn than any Hero out there. Enjoy new adventures at empire
"Captain Lucifer. I wanted to ask-."
"Oh, it's Vice-captain Lucifer, Miss Ezra. Or you can just call me Lucifer. I don't think we have to call each other by title actually."
The reason I eliminated Carla in the battle simulation that we had a few days ago was also not because I wanted to get rid of her or because I saw her as a threat.
But, it was more about giving her a purpose or a moral question to think why I might have done that and what she could have done to prevent what had happened in that instance.
'I took down Luna because she was too strong, Hide because he was too popular, Xlor was a threat not as an individual but as part of Quin's team who could have threatened us.'
And I took down Prince Alpheus because he was a Pinnacle holder. A fact that even this person, his soon to be fiancée, had no idea about.
"Okay then, Lucifer. Can I ask you something?"
"Oh, of course."
I was standing on the sidelines watching the rest of them train, giving each one that was teaching the others or the groups pointers on what they could improve on like Rein and a few others were doing.
Prince Alph was also one of the people that was guiding specifically his Vice captain who was teaching the group that belonged to his own house.
His teaching techniques were simply brutal, and we, as the house captains, actually admired how he could simply see the house members that he had as tools or pawns that he needed to refine regardless of methods that he would have to use.
He wasn't neglecting his house members. He was simply making them do something that was beneficial for them with methods that weren't really morally or ethically good.
He tried his best to hide the actual powers that he himself had, showing others a side of him that no one in this world was aware of until he joined the academy.
But still, he did not reveal his individual powers. Only using the other people around him like the wisdom pinnacle holder might actually do.
"So… I was thinking about asking Alph on a date… do you, by any chance, know of a place that, well, you know… would be good? Preferably somewhere on the island?"
"Oh?"
There was so much more to him that he had yet to show to the others, which I don't think will be happening anytime soon actually.
But, I think before he reveals his powers, he will propose to this pretty lady here.
And a date was surely going to help with that proposal… don't you think?
What do you think?
