Chapter 86 - Class Event
After they finished eating, they headed to class together. They entered the school and arrived at the classroom, both of them sitting on opposite sides of the room due to the gap in class ranking between them.
As Rein looked around, he noticed that Sho wasn't present, which concerned him, thinking that he may have dropped out after what happened. Then, suddenly, Sho walked through the classroom door and took his seat next to Clyde, Rein feeling slightly relieved as he saw him.
However, there was one other person missing. The teacher. She wasn't in the class, and Rein didn't see her on the way to school either. Nonetheless, just like Sho, she barged through the door.
"*ahem* Listen up! We're gonna be having exhibition matches instead of class today! Everyone meet at the academy field!" Miss Zophia informed them as they all stood up in surprise.
The class made their way to the academy field and lined up from the top of the class to the bottom on the outside of the field as they were told not to step on it, confused as to what they were doing.
Suddenly, the ground began rumbling, a large trap door opening, parting the academy field in half, a ginormous white building emerging from the ground, covering the 200x120 meter long field. The building had several different entrances through the side, small metal doors that looked incredibly sturdy.
Miss Zophia was standing on top of the building, cigarette in mouth and hands crossed as she looked at the students under her.
"Listen up you wimps! Today, we're having our very first Ranger Academy event! Yes, it will be graded and your performance will affect your overall standing in the class.
Our first event will be… A tag team dodge ball tournament!" She exclaimed, which got the entire class shocked, then riled up.
"It's random, but hey, I'll take it!" Said Alan, the number 24 student in class C.
"Phew, I thought it was going to be fighting for a second," said Kai, the number 23 student in class C.
"Hold on guys! She said tag team! Don't get too excited yet!" Stacey, the number 22 student from class C, calmed them down.
"You should listen to your classmate down there! You students will not be deciding the teams. Neither will I actually. They've already been decided, based on your placement in the class. Look at your tablets to see the class placement chart," she explained, the students each taking out their tablets and checking the ranking.

"The teams will be as such: the two numbers of both the team members must add up to 31. That should pair the strongest with the weakest as we go up the list in order," she informed.
"So I'm with him, huh," Rein looked at his teammate, who was already looking at him with a smiling expression.
"Well, this isn't fair," Rein thought as he smiled sleazily to his teammate, waving his hand to signal that he knew that they were teammates.
"Hold your Kindus tigers! How the fuck is this fair?! You have the number 1 student in the class, and the guy who beat the number 1 student in the class on the same team! Fuck your sorting system, this is bullshit!" Tanaga, the guy who caused trouble for Rein, Xenia, and Core when they were picking out a commission, opined.
"Argh, shut the hell up. You're my teammate, right? Damn, this is gonna be a pain in the ass. I already hate your ass," Quint remarked, which made him turn his head in anger to him, clearly offended by what he said.
"The hell'd you say to me? Do you know who I a—"
"Put a sock in it you two. I was getting to that. As for that team, since it's been clearly shown that they are both incredibly powerful, we have a prize for any team that beats them. Normally, winning this tournament would award you 60 points and 60,000 rol. Second place would be half of that, and third and fourth would be half of that.
However, the team that beats Rein and Sho will be awarded double the first place prize for just winning that match. So if that very same team goes on to win the tournament, they'd have won 180 points and 180,000 rol,"
The class erupted into cheers as they heard the rule, Rein distancing himself from the rest of the crowd before they injured him before the tournament even began.
"There are 15 doors against the sides of this building, each one numbered. The door you go through should be equivalent to the higher rank person on your team, so for Sho and Rein, they'd go through door 1. Now, let's stop screwing around and get this shit started. Everyone line in front of your doors," Miss Zophia puffed out a cloud of smoke as the students paired up and stood in front of their doors.
Sho and Rein stood in wait in front of door number 1, anticipating it opening any second now. They looked to their left, seeing Clyde and Xenia bickering beside them, Rein afraid that they had to go against them first.
"You think we'll be against them first? That swordsman is a real tough one, fought him once during battle strategies," Sho conversed.
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I sure hope not though," Rein laughed.
After a few moments of waiting, the doors slowly began squeaking open, the glistening white interior of the building glistening on their eyes as they entered...
