Chapter 405 Mortal Threat
William watched with a smile as Fria's greatsword cleaved apart dozens of peak Magical Beasts in an instant, slightly disturbed by her carefree attitude that allowed blood and guts to spray everywhere.
Damn, she really doesn't hold back. he commented while using Wind Magic to keep the blood from landing on his Illusionist's Cloak.
"Hehe! Do you see this?" Fria waved her greatsword around excitedly while shouting to William, a stark contrast from her usual cold personality. She raised her sword for another heavy strike, extending its length even further.
-The Arcturis Continent is on the brink of destruction.
William's expression changed, "Fria! Don't destroy the Continent you idiot!"
Fria lowered her greatsword and looked back at William, "How are you going to call me the idiot? Weren't you doing the same thing a few days ago?"
"Not like you are!"
"Ugh, fine." Fria switched her stance and performed a horizontal slash, dividing the group of Magical Beasts in half, literally. William heaved a sigh of relief and asked the Ancient Gravitas Mummies to control the situation, then returned to absorbing the fourth Greater Chaos Vein.
With the Gravitas Mummies keeping an eye on things, William felt at ease leaving the rest to Fria. While there were millions of Magical Beasts on the other side, the majority of them only had the strength of a Tribulation Transcendence creature and not the experience.
A few stronger than usual Magical Beasts were nothing compared to a peak Tribulation Transcendence Cultivator with dozens of Talents, and Fria wasn't just any Player. Worst case scenario, William was close enough to deal with any accidents.

"Damn it! How many times is he going to poison me?" Juhi scowled as he downed a green and black Pill that tasted bitter. He coughed a few times before controlling his Spirit Qi to protect his internal organs.
Despite the effects of the medicine, Juhi only managed to offset a majority of the Soul-Sapping Necrotoxin's power, but not all of it. He still lost a few dozen Soul Strength each hour, and only with his Spirit Qi could he avoid taking physical damage.
After being kicked out of the PDF for allegedly harassing Great Defender Mia, Juhi had lost many of his connections with the Curse Mages that could properly heal his condition. Even his wife had left with the valuables, thinking that he wasn't faithful and had eyes for Mia.
With no connections, no wife, and almost no money, his only option was to spend some of his savings on Tier 11 Soul Guarding Pills.
Damn it. The Curses are starting to wear off, but I won't be able to get my revenge on that kid when he Ascends. He's already too strong. Juhi thought to himself.
"I must leave Pewot and find someone that will take action for me." Juhi made a decision on the spot, though the danger he'd have to face was nothing short of terrifying. If Pewot wouldn't help him, he would join another city that listened.
He packed up what little items he had into a cheap Space Ring that he recently purchased, then walked past a group of houses identical to his own towards the city gates.
Flying was impossible in most cities of the Markosh Plane due to their defensive Arrays, unless one's Cultivation was high enough or they were registered as a member of the PDF. Regardless of rules, Juhi was no longer part of the PDF, and he wasn't nearly strong enough to resist Pewot City's Defensive Array Formation.
He had no choice but to walk.
"Former Defender Juhi, it's good to see you." a friendly city guard waved to Juhi from the gates.
"Mm. I'm going out, is that okay?" Juhi asked. He wasn't in the mood to talk with the man, even if they were former classmates.
"That's not a problem... but you're going out alone?" the guard looked visibly concerned for Juhi's wellbeing.
"Do I have a choice? After what Great Defender Mia said, my life in Pewot is over."
"I suppose you're right..." the guard reached into a satchel at his waist and brought out a worn cloak. The green dye in its fabric had begun to fade from overuse, but a series of glistening Arrays suggested it was still functioning.
The guard transferred authority of the cloak's Arrays, then handed it to Juhi, "Take this, I don't use it anymore. It should help conceal your aura from the demons and any other creatures that might target you otherwise."
Juhi didn't stand on ceremony and accepted the cloak with an earnest smile. He used to have one of his own, but it was still within the Space Ring that William took. "I'll make good use of it, thank you."
"No problem, good luck!" the guard nodded to his companion, who turned a massive dial that allowed the city gates to swing outward.
Juhi stepped through the gates quickly, which closed mere moments afterwards. This was standard procedure to keep the auras of tens of thousands of human Cultivators from leaking out and attracting any unwanted attention.
He wrapped the cloak around him and activated the Arrays, then carefully stepped out into the wilderness that some might consider a living Hell.
Otherworldly roars and monstrous screeches were heard for thousands of miles, and Juhi found his strength instantly suppressed to the Soul Formation Realm. Without the cloak to protect him, Juhi would be even weaker, likely restricted all the way to the Golden Core Realm.
He shuddered, looking left and right as if paranoid that something was already onto him, but Juhi continued walking regardless. There was only one way to reach the other cities without paying an exorbitant sum to teleport, and Juhi couldn't afford the latter.
Step after step, kilometer after kilometer, day after day, Juhi trudged northeast through the Wild Zone towards his next destination, Jeraldo SuperCity. Along the way, Juhi had quite a few close encounters but somehow managed to survive the entire trip.
"Entrance fee is fifteen Spirit Stones." a rough-looking guard held out an open palm with his other arm crossed over his chest.
What? The normal fee is only five. He's clearly robbing me blind! Juhi exclaimed inwardly but didn't show it on his face.
He nodded and paid the fee without another word, unwilling to cause any trouble despite the clear upcharge. If the guard found reason to deny him entry, Juhi probably wouldn't survive the return trip to Pewot.
"Good. Reason for entry?" the guard asked a probing question following the paid entry fee.
"Seeking employment." Juhi didn't dare to reveal the true reason for his visit, and he would be visiting the City Hall regardless, so his explanation wasn't wrong.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
The guard nodded and allowed Juhi to enter, leading him a short distance before pointing towards the City Hall. "Go there and find your employment."
Juhi nodded and thanked the guard, grumbling to himself as he walked towards the City Hall. "Damn guards, I wish I could give them a piece of my mind..."
He entered the City Hall and met with a male secretary with pure white hair and pointy ears at the front, "I need to report a Mortal Threat."
