Chapter 16: Killing a Late Pulse Condensation Realm Assassin
Chapter 16: Killing a Late Pulse Condensation Realm Assassin
*****
In a dark space within the confines of the Black Tiger Family main building, an old man wearing black and white robes sipped on some tea while looking out at the bright moon hanging in the night sky.
*Knock! Knock!*
This old man appeared to be missing one of his eyeballs; however, that didn't stop him from shooting his remaining eye in the direction of the sound of knocking.
"What is it?" He inquired with an old, raspy voice.
"S-Sir! The boy who killed the third Young Master has been reported by one of our spies in the Yang Sect! He's just now leaving the Sect Registry Grounds!" A slightly shaky voice sounded from the other side of the thin Japanese-style doors.
"Is that so...?" The Old Man's eyes thinned as he let out a breath of cold air. "Send out shadows eleven through twenty. Capture him and bring him back to me alive."
"Eleven through twenty?? Are you sure, sir??" The man from the other side of the doors questioned with a tone of disbelief.
Shadows eleven through twenty are in the Middle and Late Pulse Condensation Stages, and yet Lord Black Tiger is sending them after a boy no older than twelve years old!?
WAAA!
He was deep in thought until a sudden burst of killing intent erupted from the decrepit and wrinkled figure of the old man.
"Did I not make myself clear enough before...?" Lord Black Tiger asked with a voice oozing death, his emotionless gaze focused on the other side of the screen doors.
"!!!" The man outside the room nearly p*ssed himself right then and there as he stuttered, "N-No sir! I will get this done right away!"
After which, he vanished from his spot and headed toward a barracks building in the outer parts of the Black Tiger Families main building.
And in his place, he left an old man with a face that looked like it came from the deepest depths of the coldest layer of hell.
"You will pay for what you have done to my son, boy. That much, I guarantee."
His voice, devoid of emotion, echoed through the room as he gazed again at the large luminescent moon illuminating the star-spangled night sky.

Meanwhile, in an area outside the Yang Sect, Azmodeus waited in an open-spaced area, awaiting the inevitable approach of ten or so shadowy figures.
They had been on his tail for the past ten minutes or so, and there was absolutely no chance of him escaping their pursuit, so he thought he would try a different approach.
FWIP! FWIP! FWIP!
Ten figures of varying sizes, both male and female, appeared on the opposing side of the open field he was standing on.
"Why did you stop, target #2056?"
The voice of the first assassin echoed out as he looked at his target with a mildly perplexed look on his usually stoic face.
"Target #2056, eh? That doesn't sound like a very nice thing to call your target. Couldn't I at least get a code name or something?" Azmodeus asked with a neutral voice.
"No, you cannot, for you are not strong enough to be deserving of a name," the first assassin responded, his sinuous gaze focused on his target.
The rest of the shadows got ready to move, as all of them knew only one thing in this life. And that was to kill.
They weren't like the previous 'assassins' that came after Azmodeus earlier. No, these men and women were the real deal, genuine assassins.
"...Is there really nothing that we can do to resolve this dispute with words?" Azmodeus asked.
"No, there is not, and you will be dying soon, so do you have any last words?" The first shadow replied while tightly gripping onto his dagger, dripping a green and dangerous substance off its razor-sharp edges.
Poison, huh...?
Azmodeus observed the uniqueness of every one of the ten assassins, as he basically understood what they were going to do next.
Even as trained assassins, aren't they going a little hard on someone who they assumed to be in the Early Pulse Condensation Stage?
Even he could tell that all of the Assassins were planning on holding back none of their punches.
They were going to try and kill someone weaker than them with everything they had, which was quite unusual for strong cultivators.
It looks like their egos have been trimmed down by the Black Tiger Family, allowing for the perfect execution of any assassinations that they were told to dish out...
At this thought, Azmodeus felt that this fight might become a tad bit troublesome, but it didn't matter much. After all, before these assassins got here, he made his way deep into the Yang Forest, killing any Spiritual Beasts he found along the way.
And of all those Spiritual Beasts, there was one in particular...
One that would completely alter what should've been a 100% certain death for him with the arrival of the assassins...
-
"It truly is too bad that we couldn't talk things out..." Azmodeus murmured as a soft sigh escaped his mouth.
SLICE!
*Spurt!*
A blood fountain gushed out of where the head of the leading shadow used to be.
"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"
Nobody even knew what had happened when, out of nowhere, the strongest of them had died!
However, they were taken out of their stupors by the dry voice of their target as he said, "It really is too bad that words weren't enough to let bygones be bygones, as now I'll have you all become my strength."
As Azmodeus's words echoed throughout the wide, empty field, a few system notifications went off inside his head.
