Chapter 81: Treasury
Chapter 81: Treasury
Harry didn't know whether to laugh or cry as he stared at Meredith's dead body and the soldier's proud and victorious expression.
He was thinking furiously on how to solve this mess when he remembered something. Why should he bother solving this mess? This was not his kingdom was it? He then took a decision which was absolutely ruthless.
He decided to steal all the gold in the treasury before getting out of here. But of course, he had to spice things up a bit more before that, shouldn't he? After all, taking all the gold in the treasury and running away, all while leaving this mess behind was basically sentencing Eryeth to its doom.
He could probably trigger the people and soldiers before going, couldn't he? Just when he was thinking on how to do that, the throne room's doors opened with a slightly chubby teenager running in. He shouted, "Father! I need more-" He stopped mid speech seeing his mother's dead body.
He immediately went pale before falling on the floor while shivering. He crawled away towards the throne room's door before opening the doors and running out while screaming, "HELP! MURDER! MY MOM!"
Harry suddenly felt a light bulb lit up in his head. He immediately barked, "Knights! Kill him! Don't let him alert the others!"
The advisor had a devastated expression as he had just realized the consequences of their rash actions. He had a mental breakdown as he fell to the floor clutching his head.
The knights chased after the prince with their swords in their hand, ready to hack him into pieces.
They caught up to him and lifted their swords to stab the prince when some knights came running in.
They were alerted by the screams and ran as fast as they could to see what was happening when they caught the other knights red handed.
[The other knights who came running in are loyal to Meredith. I'm going to call them soldiers, and the one's loyal to Chester as knights to make it less confusing.]
The soldiers stared at the knights who were about to stab the prince with blank expressions.
One of the soldiers immediately yelled, "What the hell are you all doing?! Do you want to rebel?! Get away!"
The knights broke out of their trance upon hearing the soldier shout and swiftly stabbed the prince in his heart and other vital areas. The prince squealed like a pig that was being butchered.
The soldiers widened their eyes at this scene and immediately cried out, 'Prince!'
The knights, who had the numerical advantage, wanted to silence these soldiers too, so that the matter would be over for now. But what they did not expect was the fact that the whole battalion of knights were alerted (all of them, the ones loyal to the king and Meredith, all of them were alerted as the barracks were in the compound of the castle, and they heard the screams and the commotion).
All the knights got into an orderly formation and entered the castle, thinking that an enemy had attacked. They reached the corridor from which they heard the latest scream before feeling extremely confused and shocked. There were a few knights fighting while a dead body was sprawled on the entrance of the corridor.
The commander felt extremely agitated when he saw the dead body of the prince.
He immediately shouted, "What the hell is happening here?! All of you stop!"
The knights fighting subconsciously stopped and looked at the swarm of people who had just entered.
The soldiers took this opportunity and began screaming out what happened. The knights who were here on Chester's order began to counter accuse the soldiers.
The commander got extremely confused at the current situation and ordered the knights to come with them to the king.
The knights who killed the prince began to sweat profusely at this while the soldiers had relieved expressions on their faces.
The swarm of people reached the throne room and entered, only to see the dead body of the queen lying at the entrance.
The knights who killed the prince looked at the body with surprise, thinking that the body should have been cleared away.
The commander immediately felt his heart lurch as he retreated back. He felt like his heart would burst in any second at the suprises he recieved today.
He saw the advisor who was clutching his head while blankly looking at the ground and their king who was calmly looking at them and immediately understood what had happend. He started screaming crazily at the king, "You killed her?! How could you?!" After all, he was one sidedly loyal to Meredith, and saw her as an angel.
The knights all understood what had happend. They were momentarily stunned as they looked at their king.
Their king grinned and said, "Shut up Commander. Yes. I killed that b*tch. What will you do? I'm the king here. I can easily kill you too. Knights, kill him."
This one action of Harry's caused a wave of fury to course through some of the knights. They immediately started shouting curses and running towards the king who was sitting in the throne peacefully, looking at them tauntingly.
The knights who were loyal to the king on the other hand, tried their best to stop them. But it was of no use, and they had to finally fight them to temporarily slow down their advance.
The knights split into two groups, fighting each other. One group was trying to penetrate through the other and reach the king, while the other was trying their best to stop them.
Harry on the other hand calmly looked at the scene of bloodshed with a serene expression, as if the bedlam that had broken loose in front of him was something from a TV show that he was watching.
The advisor mumbled to himself like a madman as he knew that it was all because of him that this had happened. If the king had not tried to wake him up after he fainted for some godd*mn reason, if someone had not misunderstood the scene as something else, and if that misunderstanding had not reached the queen, none of this would've happened.
