Chapter 59: I... I don't want you risking your life.
Harry gave them a few seconds for them to process what he had just said, after which he said, "I'm not forcing any one of you. If you want to not take the risk and lose the chance to gain unimaginable powers, then it's totally okay."
Harry was basically just trying to tempt them into agreeing to get injected.
Arnold looked straight into his eyes and said with a determined expression, "I will get injected. Don't inject my other two brothers."
Ethan scoffed and growled at Arnold, "Arnold, I'm your big brother. I'm not gonna let my little brother put his life at stake while being a p*ssy and running away with my tail between my legs. More importantly, I can't let my little brother become more powerful than me! My pride as a big brother is at stake here!"
Arnold and Maxine chuckled. Even Harry smiled softly. Arnold knew that Ethan was just joking with the last part, and that it was just his attempt at breaking the tense atmosphere, which definitely worked as the atmosphere was not so tense as before now.
Arnold smiled and said, "Okay then 'big bro'. Only you and me."
Ethan laughed due to his particular emphasis of the two words big bro. The fact that Arnold never usually called him big bro also made it extra funny to Ethan.
Maxine had decided that he could not let his brothers take the 'injections', whatever the king meant by that term, alone.
He opened his mouth making an 'O' shape and was about to declare that he too would get injected when both his brothers shouted, "NO!"
Maxine was taken aback as he stared at his brothers blankly. He did not expect them to just flat out reject him without even hearing what he had to say.
Arnold took in a deep breath and said, "Look, Maxine, you're just not resilient enough. Your brother Ethan and I have borne many injuries. We also have a burning determination to live. Don't get me wrong. You are a very resilient and strong boy, but we don't want to risk your life."
Arnold was going to give some logical reasons to justify his denial of Maxine's request to get injected in the start, but in the end, he just said what was in his heart. He did not want to put his brother's life in risk for fleeting strength.
