Chapter 117: Cargo inspection, boy bandage!
The Other Shore Convenience Store was much larger than the Red Moon Convenience Store, with shelves stretching seemingly into the deepest parts of the darkness.
To his surprise, the items on display were all common goods from the real world, a dazzling array of daily necessities, without any black blood or filth.
Qin Nuo walked between the shelves, following the numbers, heading deeper inside.
Soon, he found shelf number 25, arranged in sequence.
Looking down, Qin Nuo felt a headache coming on. How long would it take to manage all this?
He picked up a bucket of water from the side, wrung out a towel. Whether the water was clean or not, Qin Nuo couldn't tell, but the sticky feeling was real, like blood plasma, making him very uncomfortable.
Without thinking much, Qin Nuo held a feather duster in one hand and a damp towel in the other, dusting and wiping the shelves.
The process was tedious and tested patience, but despite complaining of a headache, Qin Nuo could endure both challenges.
Working honestly was not an option for Qin Nuo; he had his own ideas.
Wiping a shelf near a light bulb, the faint yellow light reflected over. After finishing, Qin Nuo carried the bucket to the next shelf. The shelf, covered in dust and cobwebs, turned an unusually bright red after he wiped it.
As time ticked by, Qin Nuo noticed other shelves also had some White Shadows moving between them, cleaning and stocking.
One shelf had tape scattered all over the place. Qin Nuo picked it up and neatly arranged it back on the shelf.
As he straightened it, Qin Nuo noticed under the light that his hands were increasingly red, with sticky blood dripping from his fingers, as if he had just handled a corpse.
The vivid color was jarring to the eyes.
Qin Nuo frowned.
He had known the water wasn't clean, but why did the color get deeper instead of being washed away by the stains?
Confused, Qin Nuo looked back at the bucket.
Floating on the water's surface was no longer a towel, but a human face skin.
Underneath the skin, black blood was bubbling up.
Qin Nuo's mouth twitched.
Damn it!
What was this, a ghostly illusion?
He had been using a human face skin to wipe the shelves for half the day. Initially, he didn't mind the sticky feeling, but now that he knew, he wished he could chop off his hands.
"Stay calm, just treat it as a normal towel," said the Blood-Eyed Ghost.
"The more afraid you are, the more bizarre things will appear."
"That ghost doll is watching you from the shadows!"
Qin Nuo raised an eyebrow, his peripheral vision catching the dark corners around him, and he immediately understood.
"Is this a test for new employees?"
Steadying his mind, Qin Nuo picked up the human face skin again and continued wiping the shelves. The sticky feeling was like a hand digging into someone's internal organs, extremely disgusting. ṛ
Yet Qin Nuo's expression remained unchanged as he worked diligently.
After a while, Qin Nuo felt a chill on his back, as if the ghost doll was staring at him.
The human face skin in his hand suddenly twitched, wrapping around Qin Nuo's hand, the facial features twisting into an indescribable agony.
An ordinary person would have thrown the towel away, instinctively jumping up and causing a mess.
Such a result would have given the supervising ghost doll an excuse to impose a small punishment.
What was the small punishment?
The blood-stained knife in its hand said it all.
Qin Nuo, however, remained calm, saying, "Just like that, wrap it tighter so I can clean the gaps in the shelves better."
After a while, the spine-chilling sensation disappeared.
Apparently, the ghost doll left satisfied.
"That little ghost doll seems arrogant. I can beat it so badly it won't dare make a sound," the Blood-Eyed Ghost said, eager to show off after opening its third eye.
Seeing anyone, it would say, "Do you like the look of it? If not, I'll take care of it for you."
Qin Nuo replied, "We're in enemy territory now. If you take it down, what about the rest? If our identity is exposed, my plan will be ruined."
"What plan do you have?"
"Watch and see, you'll find out," Qin Nuo said, not rushing to explain.
Ding dong!
The doorbell echoed in the store, and the rain outside seemed to have stopped. Customers began to enter the store one after another.
Throwing the human face skin back into the bucket, Qin Nuo placed the bucket in a corner.
Yawning, Qin Nuo leaned against a wall to take a small break while the ghost doll was gone.
But he hadn't rested long when he heard some noise.
A customer had entered the area Qin Nuo managed.
Qin Nuo immediately opened his eyes, got up, and walked over.
Under the shelf, a little boy approached, wearing a blue and white school uniform, looking around as if searching for something but too shy to call for a stock clerk, appearing very introverted.
Strangely, the boy's head was wrapped in bandages, as if he had suffered a severe head injury, with blood seeping through the bandages and dripping onto the floor.
Qin Nuo didn't become tense because of this horror, approaching with a confident and friendly tone, like an experienced sales clerk: "Hello, little brother, what do you need?"
"I... I want a roll of bandages. The ones on my head are old and dirty."
The boy spoke softly, his voice getting quieter until it was like a mosquito's buzz, clearly very withdrawn.
"Bandages, huh? Wait a moment, I'll get them for you."
Qin Nuo said and left, remembering the bandages were on shelf number 37.
Walking quickly, Qin Nuo soon found the bandages on the top shelf, divided into several types.
"Ordinary simple bandages."
"Excellent practical bandages."
"Superior durable bandages."
Three different qualities, with different prices.
Thinking the boy was a child, he probably didn't have much money, but if the quality was too poor and it broke, it would upset the customer.
Qin Nuo chose the middle-grade excellent practical bandage.
Soon, Qin Nuo returned, the little boy standing obediently, not having left.
"Here's the bandage you wanted. See if it suits you. If not, I'll exchange it for you."
The boy took the bandage, turned around, and began unwinding the bandage from his head.
Qin Nuo's eyelids twitched, unable to resist glancing over.
As the bandage came off, from his angle, he only saw a small part of the face, as if it had been gnawed or burned, crucially still bleeding profusely without any sign of scabbing, extremely horrifying.
Seeing just a part, Qin Nuo quickly looked away, fearing he'd get a stye.
Soon, the boy had wrapped a new roll of bandage tightly around his head, but it quickly started turning red again.
Perhaps it was Qin Nuo's friendly tone, or maybe the bandage was just right.
The boy seemed very satisfied, his voice filled with happiness: "Thank you, big brother, here's your tip."
A stack of ghost bills was handed over, and the boy skipped away.
Qin Nuo estimated it to be about fifty or sixty, equivalent to five or six hundred ghost currency!
That could buy ten rolls of superior durable bandages.
This tip was quite outrageous.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Didn't expect this shy little ghost to be so generous!" Qin Nuo murmured, happily pocketing the tip.
