I have Nine Lives

Chapter 173: The war starts

Chapter 173: The war starts

However, the crack in the shield quickly mended while the invader that struck it started to bang it with his four arms angrily.

He alone couldn't create another crack because the shield strengthened once it recovered, but another red-skinned buff invader dropped on the shield, making it shake.

The shield shook, making the planet shake as well, but it quickly stopped as the shield got reinforced once again.

It wasn't easy to shake the foundation of the humans only with grunt troops.

The president had already sent word to all of the idle troops to gather above the capital as the ones that kept them at bay were quickly returning to shift the battlefield.

Felix looked at the continuously appearing invaders and then at the president as he asked:

"Should I go?"

The president shook his head as he looked at the invaders who tried to break through their planetary shield and said:

"It's not your time yet, they are only grunts, and the fight between experts will happen at a later date... for now, we as the higher-ups will only watch them fight out."

"But won't the casualties be immense that way?"

The president shook his head as he looked into Felix's eyes with his lone one:

"Don't underestimate the human race, Felix. The resources we invested into you were because we lack top-tiered talents like yours."

"As for the middle tier talents and above, we have plenty of them, but you know that an overwhelmingly stronger person would just turn everything on its head if they interfered in these fights. This is basic knowledge in wars."

Felix nodded... this was the same even when he fought the tigers back with the Lion tribe.

But instead, now he would be like the generals... coming at the last second to save the day and fight the big battle after the grunts battle is done.

Felix stood at the top of the tower as the president entered back into the tower. Felix remained to observe while the president went to give the orders for all the troops to assemble. And defend the planet at all costs!

Felix knew that him getting left out at the start was also a way to analyze the invaders fighting techniques. So he would have an easier time when he fought with their higher-ups.

The same could be said about the higher-ups of the invaders as Felix currently knew most military techniques from Vangar's memories... but he could also improvise.

His fists were clenched as he watched the human troops rushing towards the top of the barrier in droves to drive the invaders away from their shield.

The human troops were impressive as they all wore the same type of armor and walked in tandem. Their auras were fully unleashed as they entered a triangle formation, fusing their aura to improve their battle power.

The invader's ship cannons were incapacitated, so they had to fight hand to hand, along with their other personal weapons.

The battle just started, but it was bloody and full of deaths, corpses fell from the top of the atmosphere down into the seas below and on the inhabited continents creating either huge craters or splashes of water that attracted the attention of every living being in the surroundings.

Now that the battle started, there was no way to cover it up anymore, so every living being on the planet realized what was happening more or less.

Every living being with adequate eyesight and zooming capabilities started to look towards the sky to observe the fight that would decide the fate of their planet...

The troops of the humans were steady and well trained, along with their undying loyalty to the federation. They were the perfected grunt troops.

The red-skinned hulking invaders with four arms weren't as good at formations, but one strike from one of their arms would reduce 2 to 3 armored humans into canned meat paste.

The strength difference was huge, but the gap between the deaths of the humans and the red-skinned warriors wasn't that high.

It was mostly because the red invaders fought alone without entering formations, and even though they were rather intelligent, they didn't back out from a fight until they were dead.

They were either too prideful. Or they were controlled to fight to the death.

Their strength was impressive as shockwaves continued to appear around the top atmosphere of the planet, which rebounded in the shield and sometimes hit the formation of the human troops, scattering it or killing some of the people at the periphery of the formation.

Most of the deaths of those warriors came from blood loss or decapitation by intense point focusing.

The human troops were like a well-oiled machine as they focused on one point on the neck and attacked with all they got until exhaustion covered their bodies. However, they ended up with one death for the enemy as well, they used around 2-5 humans for the death of one invader which wasn't a bad trade-off considering the numbers of the invaders weren't that high. They were strong, but with higher strength came a lower chance of having offsprings, thus lowering the population of pure-blooded species.

Evolution made it this way for most species.

That was why the weaker something was, the faster it could reproduce.

Every death hurt the strong warriors to the point that they actually started to mimic the human's actions which showed that they weren't controlled but just prideful.

Felix could see that the fight was getting harder and harder for humans as the red beings continued to learn at a lightning speed, which made Felix rather confused. The humans had held them back for months on end, but these beings were only learning the human's strategies now?

Did they suddenly get bright, or did the humans have a different strategy for keeping them away?

Some things didn't add up.

Vangar's remaining will from the extra memories he left behind resounded in his consciousness as he thought about what was happening:

"The federation always thinks about the future of their society as a whole, putting the military and government above everything else, in the future if they would find your use for something else, just like they did to me, you would understand the true face of the federation... but I guess this warning already did that for you."

He knew that the president didn't tell him everything, and no matter how strong he became, there would always be secrets dangled behind his back by those sneaky people, and if he wanted to get them, he would have to use force...

Maybe for the future...

Felix continued to concentrate as he observed every detail of the red invaders fighting style and habits when they used their body's which were deadlier than most of the weapons that the humans were currently using against them.

The pace of the war wasn't fast nor slow as both sides probed each other out without sending any top fighters. For now, it would be a 'stamina' fight to see which side would run out of troops first.

However, from how things looked, the red beings wouldn't last long. Even though they killed more humans, the number of humans was so high that they were just like ants. And just like ants, they would be able to cover the 'elephant' and bite him to death.

The higher-ups of the invading side knew that, but they continued to send troops to their deaths which were a little bit uncharacteristic of an intelligent race, and from what Felix understood, they weren't barbarians. Their advanced technology showed that.

So why would they send so many of their own to death? It wasn't like the deaths of the grunts would hurt the humans too much. They would be able to rebuild easily, as their reproductive capabilities were way higher compared to the red buff beings.

This attracted the attention of all of the returning generals and the president himself. While Felix was observing the fight, the president wasn't slacking at all as he used a special observing drone to see everything that was happening in the atmosphere.

The president and other political higher-ups, along with some resting generals were all in a wide room. They stood at a long table, where everyone didn't say anything as they looked at the current fight with bated breaths.

Suddenly the president got up from his chair as he frowned and analyzed everything with his lone eye better, which already turned a deep red color as flames appeared in it.

"Something is wrong!"

The president exclaimed as he said:

"Tell all of the troops to get behind the shield right now!"

The president's words and orders couldn't be disobeyed nor commented on in war times, so the order was given immediately as the tide of human troops started to retreat at high speeds. However, the order was given a little bit too late...

A gigantic flaming explosion engulfed half of the retreating troops as they turned into ashes, and a glowing pentagram could be seen appearing on the planet as the fire pillar started to disappear after the unleashed attack. It seemed that the corpses of the invaders which dropped to the planet were used as a conductor for this sudden attack... and that wasn't the only surprise for the humans.
