Chapter 24
I Don’t Like You
The Chairman of K Group and his wife were very loving. More than two decades ago, he was on a business trip to China with his pregnant wife who gave birth during the trip. Their newborn daughter went missing not long after… The scale of K Group was immense and had cut into the interests of many people. A rich young lady who was born with a silver spoon—and should be living in the lap of luxury—but her whereabouts was still unknown till now. It was unsure if she was even alive. The Chairman of K Group sent people to China every year to look for his daughter. His wife would probably have collapsed on the first day her daughter went missing if it were not for the support of her husband and son.
Nie Heng smiled. “Yes, this is indeed a big weakness. However, who can find a child who disappeared after being born more than 20 years ago?”
“The depth of love the Chairman’s wife has for this daughter is a huge bargaining chip for you,” Cheng Lang said.
China was still the territory of the Four Big Families. No matter how powerful K Group was, there were still some things that were out of their reach. If the Nie family agreed to help in the search, K Group would definitely be willing to make some business concessions in return.
Nie Heng narrowed his eyes and nodded in agreement. Relieved at finding a solution to the problem, Nie Heng turned to Xing Shu. “What jewelry does the Little Canary like? Take it as my greeting gift to you.”
Xing Shu abhorred Nie Heng’s attitude—women were just toys in his eyes. “There’s no need to trouble President Nie.”
Nie Heng glared at Xing Shu menacingly for a long time. Xing Shu had the feeling that if she was not Cheng Lang’s woman, she might have already died.
After a long time, Nie Heng retracted his gaze and got up lackadaisically. “Alright, Nie Xi is still waiting for me. I’ll leave first. See you around, Little Canary.”
It was a thinly veiled threat. He was so menacing that even a casual smile sent chills down her spine. Xing Shu instinctively inched closer to Cheng Lang. Left alone in the private room, she asked softly, “Young Uncle… As a friend, you will persuade him, right?”
“Let’s go.” Cheng Lang stood up and said indifferently, “Don’t get involved in the matter between Nie Heng and Nie Xi.” In other words, if Xing Shu disobeyed and insisted on getting involved, he would not help if things were to go awry.
Xing Shu furrowed her brows and looked up at Cheng Lang. “Nie Heng is engaged to Miss Liu; he and Nie Xi are brother and sister in name. What is the state of their current relationship then? If people find out, what will everyone say about Nie Xi?” Nie Heng was a man with power and influence; the public would instinctively be tolerant of him. Nie Xi will be the one bearing the odium and brunt of it.
“Nie Xi asked for it.” Cheng Lang’s answer shocked Xing Shu—it was almost cruel. Xing Shu was chilled to the bone. She knew Nie Xi well—she dared to love and hate fiercely, like a beast. This little beast would only restrain its claws and teeth— and become obedient and sensible—in the face of Nie Heng. It was wrong for Nie Xi to fall in love with Nie Heng, but what about Nie Heng? Was he blameless? He was the horny b*astard who did not reject Nie Xi and even condoned her behavior. It may be that it was a “waste” to turn away a woman who threw herself at him, but he should not have been so indiscriminate. The essence of humans was still essentially humanity; not beasts who thought with their lower bodies.
“As you said, it’s expected for me to be scorned and excoriated when our relationship is exposed.” Xing Shu suddenly looked up at Cheng Lang. “Of course, it’s expected for me to be excoriated because I cozied up to you with the intention of using you. There’s no love between us, and I don’t like you. But Nie Xi is different…”
I don’t like you…
Xing Shu’s words made Cheng Lang frown instinctively. He did not like this sentence intuitively.
Xing Shu noticed that Cheng Lang seemed lost in thought and quickly reacted.
Why was she telling him this? He did not understand at all.
“Young Uncle, you don’t have a fiancée, do you?” Xing Shu changed the topic. She did not want to be the third Xing Linlin. Whether or not Cheng Lang had someone in his heart, it had nothing to do with her. She did not forget her goal—to exact revenge on a few members of the Cheng family through Cheng Lang. In any case, sleeping with a man like Cheng Lang was not a loss—the way the “Buddha on Earth” was aroused in bed certainly made one feel a sense of accomplishment.
Xing Shu was also tawdry—Cheng Lang’s dismissive attitude towards women and love made her want to sleep with him even more.
It would be less problematic when they went their separate ways in the future, wouldn’t it?
