Chapter 33
Made Big Promises
“It’s only been a few days since we last met, but you’ve actually learned to steal cars, Nan Youyou!”
Nan Ge covered her forehead which was hurting from his poke and dodged. “Didn’t I tell you on the phone that my car has been sent for repairs?”
Nan Zhe crossed his arms and sneered. “How did you know the password to my house? Did you peek last time?”
“No.” Nan Ge touched her nose in embarrassment. “I pressed randomly and it opened by itself.”
“Bullshit!”
She had no choice but to tell the truth, “Who knew you were so narcissistic? The password is actually your birthday and height.”
“Also, I tried 184 first, and the result was wrong. I tried 185 the second time.”
As she spoke, she stuck her head out and looked him up and down curiously. “Aren’t you past the age of puberty? Have you been secretly eating calcium tablets recently? When did you become 185?”
Nan Zhe retorted, “I was always 185! No, I’m 185.7!”
Hearing this, Nan Ge looked suspicious and obviously did not believe him. “Didn’t you go to London to attend a dinner party? Did you get hormone shots while you were at it?”
“…Shut up and come down to move the luggage!”
Nan Ge pursed her lips and pushed open the car door to put his luggage inside. Then, she opened the door of the passenger seat for him with a great service attitude the entire time.
After getting into the car, she did not forget to hand him a bottle of water.
Yes, she looked more like a chauffeur.
After leaving the airport, Nan Ge looked at him curiously. “Why are you back so soon? Did you have something urgent to attend to?”
Nan Zhe did not mention New Year’s Eve’s matter. He just took out a ticket from the side and placed it on the central console. “Is this considered urgent?”
Instantly, Nan Ge’s eyes lit up. “Yes, yes, yes!”
“Thank you, Big Bro!”
“Tsk.” Nan Zhe turned his head away and leaned against the car window lazily. “I wanted to ask for tickets for you when I returned home. Who knew that I would bump into their manager when I was eating at the restaurant the other day?”
“Oh, right, right. They’re on tour. They should be over there now.”
Taking advantage of the red light, Nan Ge braked to a halt and quickly took out the tickets to take a closer look. “First row!”
The price of scalper tickets for this seat was more than $200,000.
“Uh huh.” Nan Zhe said solemnly, “It’s almost eleven by the time the concert ends. You can stay at my place when the time comes.”
“Hmm… No need. I plan to go back early, so I don’t have to finish watching it.”
“You’ve already got the tickets. Aren’t you going to finish watching it?”
“I was afraid I wouldn’t make it back in time for dinner.”
“Why? Are you very desperate to eat? Have you not eaten your fill before? Will you starve to death if you don’t go?”
Nan Ge was speechless.
What nonsense was this?
“I’m afraid that if I don’t go back, Grandpa and Grandma will be unhappy.”
“Just do whatever you want.” Nan Zhe supported his head with one hand and glanced at her. “Why are you thinking so much, you little brat?”
“Why care if they are happy? You just have to make yourself happy.”
“It wasn’t easy for me to get you such a good ticket. You have to watch the entire concert. Otherwise, I’ll sell the ticket to the scalper now!”
“No, please don’t!” Nan Ge stuffed the ticket into her pocket. “I’ll be sure to watch it to the end. No one said anything about not watching it. I just feel… this might be a bad idea.”
“What’s not good about it?” Nan Zhe crossed his arms and looked at her resentfully. “Not only are you going to watch it, but you also going to take plenty of selfies and post them online. Don’t block anyone! Do you hear me?”
“Then my cousins and aunt will tell Grandpa and Grandma when they see it. What should I say when they ask?”
If her grandparents found out, they would be furious.
Nan Ge was very dependent on her brother. Her eyes were imploring as she tried to get Nan Zhe to give her a good suggestion.
Unexpectedly, her brother waved his hand and said, “What are you talking about? Blacklist them all and delete them!”
Nan Ge was speechless. She knew that her brother was still a little rebellious.
When the light turned green, she started driving.
Nan Ge sighed as she drove. “Never mind. I will block them before posting any pictures. Otherwise, people will probably bring it up during the Spring Festival reunion dinner.”
This had happened many times before.
The thought of the reunion during the Spring Festival and the family sitting down to eat and chat gave Nan Ge a headache.
This was what she hated the most every year, especially when Nan Zhe was not at home two years ago.
Nan Zhe was furious. “Do you think I’m dead?”
“If anyone dares to say anything bad about you, don’t worry. I’ll flip the table without hesitation.”
“I don’t care who says anything about it. If anyone dares to teach you a lesson, as long as they try to make things hard for you, I’ll make sure they don’t have an easy time either.”
If people refused to sit and eat their dinner in peace, then everyone might as well not eat at all.
Nan Ge did not think that her brother was bragging, because her brother had done a lot of similar things.
When she was young, she had once gone to her grandfather’s house by herself. Her brother had gone to participate in a piano competition at that time, so he did not go with her.
At that time, her cousin was also there. When he played with her, he mocked her for being stupid and said that she was retarded.
She was so angry that she cried. She went to argue with her grandparents. Her grandparents were biased toward her cousin.
She said that her cousin was just teasing her and joking and there was nothing to cry about.
...
Later, her brother found out about this.
Although her brother and cousin were two levels apart, they were studying in the same school.
Then, he called his cousin out after class and pressed him down in the corridor to beat him up. One of his cousin’s front teeth was knocked out.
Because of this, their family and aunt’s family had not contacted each other for more than a year, and their relationship was very tense.
At the thought of this, Nan Ge’s heart melted, so she took the initiative to ask him what New Year’s gift he wanted.
“I’ll buy it for you when I get my salary!”
Nan Zhe raised his eyebrows. “You made big promises the year before, but I’m still waiting for it.”
“I’m serious this time.”
“Is your idea of being serious to take the salary I gave you to buy me a gift?”
“…”
Hm…
...
“Then I don’t have any other money. No matter what, I earned it myself.”
“Whatever.” Nan Zhe waved his hand with disinterest.
“Well, I don’t know what you’re missing.”
“Then don’t give me anything.”
“No, this is my first salary. I still have to buy something for you first. The first gift I buy has to be yours!”
Nan Zhe did not lack anything, but when he heard her say this, he was instantly touched.
“You have indeed grown up. You certainly care about me a lot.”
He looked gratified. “Alright, I know it hasn’t been easy for you either. You don’t have to get me anything expensive. Just get me a tie from W.”
“The cheapest one they have cost $4,000,” Nan Ge exclaimed, feeling that it was a little expensive.
“Can’t you even afford to spend $4000?” Nan Zhe took a deep breath and sat up straight as if he was an ailing man on the verge of death. He asked her, “Then what’s your budget?”
“A little less.”
“$3000?”
“Not quite.”
“Then how much are we talking about?”
“Four… four hundred?”
“…”
