Chapter 112 The De Guzman Family Wants To Enter The Political Field
Arlan planned to build a safe place for his people before the apocalypse comes. When the disaster arrives, the most populated cities would be overrun by zombies so it wasn't ideal to build a base there. He also thought about creating an underground city, but it would be difficult to hide it from the public and the government so he could only build one on an island.
The island he chose was a three-kilometer private island in the Pacific and it was surrounded by eleven smaller islands that act as natural barriers.
Arlan's only worry was the nature of the zombie virus. Does it only affect humans or does it have any effects on other living organisms? There were still many things he didn't know and this made him feel extremely worried.
Arlan's group rested for the night and departed via plane early in the morning. They arrived in Maharlika at 11:30 a.m. after the four-hour flight.
Yesterday, Arlan claimed 200 million dollars and this morning, he got another big money worth 120 million dollars. He would send a large portion of his money to the Arms Corporation of Maharlika.
At this moment, they were mass producing the Black Dragon Assualt Helicopters. The other weapon technologies were also being developed so the arms company needed a large amount of money to keep up with the production.
Arlan even had to bribe some military officials and government officials to keep this matter under wraps. After all, the production of these weapons could already be considered as an act of rebellion. Once the President hears about it, Arlan and the CEO of the Arms Corporation of Maharlika, Dickoy Tuazon, would be imprisoned.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
Arlan grabbed his phone and answered the call. It was a call from Fredrinn, the General Manager of the Royal Territory.
"Hello, Mr. Roa! I heard that you just came back from your trip to Tokyo. How was your trip?" Fredrinn's voice echoed.
"Haha! That would be a long story so I'll just describe Tokyo in one word. Awesome!" Arlan replied while laughing heartily. It has been a few weeks since he last met Fredrinn. He wondered what this guy called him for.
"It seems like you've enjoyed your trip. Anyway, I called you this time to inform you that the De Guzman Family will be hosting a banquet at Shangri-La Hotel. I will come to visit you in your new mansion to give you the invitation."
Hearing this, Arlan narrowed his eyes. He once heard from Fredrinn that the Royal Territory was owned by the De Guzman Family. From what he knew, this family was the richest in Maharlika and they even had businesses in other parts of Asia. Even the Sanchez Family helmed by Henry Sanchez couldn't compare to them in terms of wealth and power.
"That sounds good. I will wait for you." Arlan didn't reject him despite his busy schedule. He couldn't handle everything all by himself and it was necessary to seek outside support. If he could get the De Guzman Family to help him, he would gain a valuable ally.
Soon, Fredrinn arrived at his mansion, but there was another person who came with him. It was a man who looked to be in his late twenties. He had a refined and gentle aura that made him look very approachable.
"Mr. Roa, this is the heir of the De Guzman Family, Renz Melvin De Guzman." Fredrinn introduced the person beside him.
Arlan was a bit stunned when he heard this. "It's nice to see you, Mr. De Guzman." Arlan shook hands with Renz.
"I have finally seen you in person, Mr. Roa. Fredrinn has told me a lot of things about you." Renz laughed gently as he spoke to Arlan.
Hearing this, Arlan moved his gaze to Fredrinn who smiled at him awkwardly.
"Let's talk inside." Arlan brought them inside the mansion.
After almost an hour of talking, Arlan finally learned why the De Guzman Family was hosting a banquet. They were actually planning to send a representative to run for President! This was a big move and this was bound to attract the attention of the political families in Maharlika.
'No wonder they hosted a banquet. They must be planning to seek support.' Arlan thought to himself. Although the De Guzman Family was the richest household in the country, they haven't established themselves in the political field. Furthermore, they also knew that many of these political dynasties would do anything to get the positions that they desired. The De Guzman Family needed to make a lot of preparations to fight against them.
However, the next Presidential election would take place next year and it was unknown when the zombie virus would spread. The country of Maharlika might be already full of infected people when that time comes.
While he was pondering about this, Fredrinn and Renz stared at him silently.
Suddenly, Arlan thought about something. 'Why am I still thinking about the Presidency? I just have to help them to get their support. I'm such an idiot!'
Thinking about this, Arlan glanced at Renz and smiled while extending his hand at him. "I would be more than happy to support the De Guzman Family."
Renz grinned upon hearing this and he immediately grabbed Arlan's outstretched hand. "My family will remember this favor, Mr. Roa."
Renz heard many things about Arlan. Fredrinn said that he was the owner of Pegasus Hotel and his father also told him that Arlan was the largest shareholder of Rising Dragon Group and Mazda. This person who was younger than him was like a crouching dragon. With his help, their plans to enter the political field would be easier.
"Have you guys had lunch? How about dining with me before you go?" Arlan invited them to stay for lunch and Renz accepted his offer. He wanted to strengthen their friendship.
Arlan talked a lot with them while they were eating. They didn't mention anything about business or politics. They only chatted about random matters. This made them know more things about each other.
After lunch, Renz and Fredrinn bid him farewell.
