Chapter 9 Meanwhile
I heard everyone go out; I relaxed and laid down. Soon weariness crept in, and I fell asleep. I don't know how long I was out, but when I woke up, I felt someone touching me, gently nudging me. It felt like its been a few days, but I later learned I had been asleep for a couple of days.
I said, " I am up. Who is it?"
A male voice responded, " My name is Michael Wilkins; I am the head of the doctors taking care of you. We need to do some more tests. We need to check your eye situation and figure out whether we can fix it or not. We will guide you through the procedures."
I just nodded. They took me to different rooms and asked a bunch of questions, trying to figure out more about my situation. I answered them calmly sometimes, there were murmurs after my answers, but I ignored them. I hid my name because Apollo instructed by this world standard my name would be just a jumble of words, so I lied and blamed it on my head injury. After a few hours, I have led into bed again after having a simple meal which I learned made from "Rice." and different condiments; I laid down and fell asleep.

Michael was very astonished by the answers for the boy; he was very articulate with his words and didn't look like a normal 10-year boy. Michael felt like he was talking to a man in his 20s. Still, he recorded everything and worked on the test with a few fellow doctors. The initial result showed that it could be cured by transplant, which was good news because the pressure on his shoulder was immense.
He ordered his secretary, Ben, " Ben, after we get the result, search our contacts worldwide to find suitable donors. We need to hurry up."
Ben nodded, said, "Okay, professor", and walked out. He was present that day when the commotion happened; He had never seen the professor be so worked up about something. So as his pupil, he had to do his best.
Michael made several calls, after which he slumped down on the chair; he was dead tired and muttered," Maybe I should retire, sigh."

Laura would visit the hospital regularly and sit beside the boy. The Doctor told them he needed rest and that he should wake up in a few days. She was already attached to the boy, who occasionally nursed him with other medical personnel.
While someplace else, Robert and the elders were scrambling their heads. They tried every possible. To find more about the boy, they ever contacted underworld bosses who were just as confused as them. After more than two days of searching, matching DNA, to scanning the last month of security cameras, there was nothing. It's like he magically appeared that day in front of him, which was absurd, but they were beginning to believe.
"Sigh, this is futile; the hospital called a few minutes ago; I told them to hint at these questions. Meanwhile, while I am following Laura there, she is already convinced that some higher power has provided her with this boy."
Both elders had nothing to add and told him to go. After Robert left, Margaret said, "It's fine this way; I dont think anyone has the means to do this; it's abnormal. Maybe it's a coincidence; the boy is at optimal age with no home, and Laura is already attached to him. She would always narrate that boy feels like the baby she never had. I dont see any harm."
Patricia also said, supporting the claim, " Sigh, that Child is kind but with all the unfortunate event, made her sad. She was so cheerful a few years ago; now, look at her. She had lost weight, always worrying about the next Doctor's appointment. Now, after this incident, I can always see her smiling often. I support her fully! ."
Kenneth added, "Okay, but I will test him. He has to competent enough to inherit the family name. humph". He was secretly happy but had to look tough in front of others. He often listened to the boy's situation when ladies discussed it. He would use a newspaper as a cover to not alert the others.
Peter knew his brother the best. So, he took a jab and said, "Okay, Okay, little brother, you can act cool in front of others but I know all your secrets. hehe"
Kenneth left smiling, leaving everyone laughing. After many years the atmosphere around the house was harmonious.

When I woke up this time, I felt someone was holding my hand. I felt the warmth I missed badly back when I was in the Orphanage; seniors would hold my hand to lead me to different places and describe the different situations. The warmth would remind me that people still cared about me; feeling it here perplexed me. All I remember was the feeling of being lifted and some incomprehensible shouts. Doctors did tell me about the people who saved me, but I don't know them or anybody here. So, I was confused. I tried to nudge whoever was holding my hand to provide some answers.
After which, a female voice heard, " Honey, you are awake. Come and drink some water."
I obliged and said, " Miss are you one of the nurse. Thank you for taking care of me all this time." I tried to bow it still hurt some.
"No, no, You should rest, dont do sudden moment." the voice reminded and gently stopped me by the shoulders and continued--
" My name is Laura; I was there when my Husband found you. You were out cold at that time, so you might not have heard me. Well, can you answer some questions about you, so we can locate your family and other relatives if you have any." she said hopefully, questioning the last sentence.
I felt sad suddenly and said, " I dont remember much, but I am pretty sure I don't have any family or relative here."
"I want to adopt you." I heard a mumbled voice. I was shocked.
" W-w-what"
