Chapter 709: Kate's Dilemma-2

" Aunt Patricia?" Samuel blurted out. He saw both his grandaunt and granduncle walking friskily toward them.

" I heard what happened! Was it those royal bastards? I knew it was trouble when I heard they were coming? I will beat the shit out of them for bullying my Sami and his girlfriend!" Patricia was mad. So mad that the veins were popping out on her forehead.

It was the first time he had seen her like this after the incident when Peter got hurt doing dumb shit, which dislocated his shoulder. People had to get her off him so that she wouldn't hurt him more than he already was.

" Honey calm down! We don't know exactly what happened. The Queen is not a bad person." Donald tried to hold her down but she looked pissed hearing her name.

" So what if it's the Queen of this country? Anyone who hurt my poor Sami, will incur the wrath of whole Rothschild family. Don't forget I still have some say how this family is run! We can take several of such so called nobles without even sweating!"

"Sami, this?" Kate completely forgot what she was thinking. She never expected to meet someone that would threaten the royal family so openly disregarding who heard her. From her view she looked like frail old woman but the shine in her eye was pristine like she was ready to take on the world!

" Aunt Patricia calm down! You frightening the guest wouldn't solve anything!" Samuel tried to reason with her. People already started to notice the ruckus going on in their corner. Thankfully, they were too far away for them to notice what's exactly they were talking about but nearby staff and guards must have heard her clearly.

" He is right. Why don't we talk somewhere more private?" Donald also urged her. In the end, she calmed herself down following them to an empty room.

Samuel briefly explained to her what was going on but she was more interested in Kate who looked dejected because of the recount of events. She didn't know what everyone was thinking they were bound to get a earful soon but first she was worried about Kate.

" I missed the meeting and this is the shit that they were up to! How could they ever doubt your judgement after you proved them wrong again and again?" Donald also got angry. He would have made a fuss if unfortunately he was busy in the library.

Only when Patricia came to inform that the Queen was visiting that he started getting dressed up reluctantly to at least show some face to her. He never expected it to go haywire, beside what was his daughter Mary thinking?

" Hah, I will have a stern talk with her. I guess we spoiled her too much for too long." Patricia added. She always gave her a pass because she was the only girl in the family but it was time, she learned the price of meddling in someone else's business.

" I wouldn't go so far. She must have misunderstood-" No matter how much he hated his aunt right now, he still stood up for her because he knew deep down she was a good person.

" You don't have to stand up for her. We have been thinking about it for some time now. She is always out partying not caring about her age. It also doesn't help that she is pushing forty, most of the suiter are only interested in her for her money." Donald tapped his shoulder.

" Samuel, give us a moment. I want to talk to her alone."

" you want to talk to Kate?" He was surprised because it came out of nowhere.

" Just trust her. She must have saw something." Donald whispered. He knew his wife more than anyone else. There was no chance of her being interested in anyone if she didn't see something in them. It's been decades since they got married but he still couldn't decipher her superpower, her intuition.

Kate looked at her confused, if she had to say something why did Samuel need to leave? But she didn't have the same eyes, hers had more warmth in them. Samuel asked if it was okay to which she replied that she would be fine.

Even looking at her smile hurt his heart. He invited her to so that she didn't have to spend her holidays alone but now he started to regret his decision. After whatever they talked about, he wanted to leave the party and return home. He could tell, she started to bottle up her emotions again.

After they left, Patricia sat down beside Kate and asked," You have a lot on your mind. Can you tell me what you are worried about?" It was in a gentle tone completely different from her usual yelling and angry voice.

They sat down in silence for few moments, Kate was in a dilemma whether to say it or not but for inexplicable reason her heart was telling her to trust the old lady. She turned sideway to get a clear look at her face, her wrinkles and kind eyes reminded of someone that she forgotten over the years.

Her grandmother, she had the same smile on her face whenever, Kate would tell her about her everyday life problems. After her parents, she could only rely on her grandparents especially her grandmother whom she was quite close with till the day she passed away.

Seeing Kate stare at her, Patricia only leaned forward to grab her hands. Feeling her rough hand squeeze her seemed to broke something inside of her. She didn't even realize before tears started flowing down her cheeks.

She opened her mouth and started telling her all her problems, it came in waves. She could sob for few moments before speaking and sometimes, it was hard to distinguish what she was saying. Patricia remained calm and heard everything she had to say, she never interrupted her just listened to her with a small smile on her face.
