Chapter 252: [252] Want proof? I’ll give it to you _1
Qin Yanan then made a call to the Public Affairs Hall.
The police car arrived quickly.
After an investigation at the scene, the officers found no signs of Wang Xiaodao’s break-in and theft in Tang Feng’s room.
Wang Xiaodao watched proudly as Tang Feng and Qin Yanan looked on.
This was when his skillful thievery truly shone.
With no evidence, no one could dream of sending him to prison.
Qin Yanan didn’t give up and wanted to check the surveillance footage.
That’s when she discovered that due to the power being cut, all the surveillance in the building had stopped working.
Now she was completely out of options.
Without evidence in the room, and no surveillance video, she couldn’t accuse him of theft at all.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Just when she was at her wit’s end, Tang Feng approached Wang Xiaodao with a smile, “I must say, your skills are really impressive. No wonder you are known as the king of thieves in Gan Province.”
Wang Xiaodao looked at him fearlessly, “Don’t talk nonsense, who is the king of thieves of Gan Province? You have no evidence. Slander me, and I will sue you.”
“You want evidence, right? I’ll give you some.”
The smile on Tang Feng’s face widened as he walked up to a wall and pried open one of the electrical sockets.
Only then did everyone realize that it was a fake socket, just stuck on the wall with double-sided tape.
“I was afraid that my home would be burgled, so I had bought a pinhole camera in advance. I didn’t expect it would actually come in handy,” Tang Feng flicked the back of the socket with his fingernail, revealing a memory card in his hand.
Seeing this, Qin Yanan burst into excitement, “Hahaha, how did you ever think of this? You’re quite something.”
Tang Feng explained with a smile, “It was your fish tank that reminded me. To deal with a thief king, ordinary cameras would easily be destroyed, so of course, I had to prepare.”
Wang Xiaodao’s face turned pale as he suddenly struggled free from the two officers and lunged toward Tang Feng, attempting to grab the memory card.
Tang Feng had anticipated his desperate move and quickly kicked out, sending him flying back.
“Ah, I’ll kill you…”
Wang Xiaodao tried to get up and struggle, but was quickly subdued by the two officers.
Qin Yanan quickly found a playback device and played the footage captured by the pinhole camera.
The video clearly showed Wang Xiaodao entering the room and rummaging through the belongings.
Moreover, the officers judged from his practiced movements that he was definitely a hardened criminal, and a thief king at that.
“We might have caught a big fish this time.”
The officers had initially thought it was just a typical theft, but now they suddenly realized that the matter might not be so simple.
If they followed the trail, it could very well lead them to a major case.
“Miss Qin, rest assured, we will deal with this case seriously and will not let any criminal slip through,”
The officer leading the team appeared to know Qin Yanan and spoke very politely to her.
They initially wanted to take Tang Feng to file a report, but after negotiations by Qin Yanan, they eventually did not insist on it.
Wang Xiaodao was handcuffed by the two officers on the spot and taken to the police car.
As he was being led away, he couldn’t help but turn to look back at the two, his eyes filled with a murderous intent, “I won’t let you get away with this.”
“Reform yourself while you’re inside, hope for a lenient treatment,”
Tang Feng, still wearing his harmless smile, waved at him.
The police car gradually drove off.
Hidden in the darkness, Zhao Huaqiang and his men all had looks of shock on their faces.
“Mr. Hua, what do we do now?” one of his subordinates swallowed and asked in a low voice.
“What can we do? Retreat.”
Zhao Huaqiang gritted his teeth and had no choice but to lead his men away.
Tang Feng glanced in the direction where Zhao Huaqiang and his men were hiding, a cold smile appearing on his face as he wrapped his arm around Qin Yanan and went back to the room.
“Mrs. Nan, weren’t you at the company? What brought you running back all of a sudden?”
Tang Feng poured her a cup of hot water and sat next to her on the sofa.
“After you left, I just felt uneasy, so I brought a few people back to help you,” Qin Yanan took the cup, blew on the steam, “Unfortunately, I wasn’t much help and almost caused you more trouble.”
“Heh, as long as you understand. If you dare to disobey again next time, I might just have to spank you,” Tang Feng’s tone became slightly stern.
Qin Yanan pouted and glared at him with annoyance.
“What, you still don’t agree? Do you know how dangerous it was just now if I hadn’t acted in time?” Seeing her still defiant, Tang Feng flicked her smooth forehead with his finger.
Tears “whooshed” out of Qin Yanan’s eyes, whether from feeling wronged or the pain.
“Detestable Tang Feng, bad Tang Feng, I was worried about you, that’s why I took the risk to run out,”
“You don’t appreciate it, yet you blame me, hit me, wooo… You heartless man, I will never be nice to you again…”
The more she spoke, the angrier she became, wiping her tears and standing up to leave.
Tang Feng hastily pulled her back, “I’m not blaming you, I’m worried about you. You don’t understand, when Wang Xiaodao charged at you, I was almost scared to death. If anything had happened to you, I…”
“What then?”
Qin Yanan stared at him with large eyes, her fair cheeks still wet with tears, a hint of expectation in her gaze.
“I… I haven’t received my salary for this month yet. If something happened to you, who would I get my salary from?” Tang Feng faced her beautiful face and suddenly felt flustered, fumbling for words.
Qin Yanan’s eyes flickered with disappointment as she punched him hard in the chest, “Hmph, you’re really heartless.”
“I almost got hurt because of you, and all you care about is your salary? You can go to hell.”
With that, she left in a huff.
Tang Feng watched her disappear into the room, sighing involuntarily.
He had known before that Qin Yanan was no ordinary person, but he had never seen it firsthand, so it didn’t quite hit home.
But having visited Yashi Company today, he gained a clear understanding of her status.
A young lady from a distinguished family like hers was certainly not of his world.
At least for now, he didn’t have the courage to accept or promise anything.
As for the future, that could be left for the future to decide.
