Harry Potter: The Ring Maker

Chapter 99: The letter

Chapter 99: The letter

Back to the present Dumbledore was dreading breakfast tomorrow but refused to try and avoid this event of his own making. The headmaster of Hogwarts may be accused of many things but cowardice is not one of them. He created this situation and was willing to deal with the consequences of his actions. Nick however was unaware of the massive problem coming his way as he ate his dinner peacefully. After dinner was over he left the great hall and took a shortcut to the seventh floor in order to use the room of requirements for his upcoming ritual.-

Nick asked for a completely clean and unlit room and the ROR delivered without any problem at all. Wasting no time at all he began by determining the cardinal directions before drawing the ritual circle as per the books instructions while having the room lit up with a Lumos charm. Nick placed the ingredients in their designated places before standing in the center of the circle and extinguishing the Lumos charm covering him in darkness. "NON OBSTRUET ME OBSCURUM SICUT EGO PRAECIPIO TIBI!" He spoke the rituals activation phrase and immediately felt the magic in his body react.-

It traveled out from his feet and through the line in the center of the circle before lingering on the two ingredients for a moment before filling the rest of the circle and then pulsing. As soon as this pulse happened the sets of eyes burst into smoke that then flowed along the line before creeping up Nick's body and the flooding into his eyes causing him to cry out in pain as the magic worked to modify his eyes. Blood dripped from Nick's eyes for a five minutes before the pain stopped and he could finally open his eyes again.-

Nick was surprised at how clearly he could see despite the absence of light as it was like everything was slightly shadier than if it was a sunny day. Nick also felt the blood on his face and looked down at the floor before sighing and cleaning it off before banishing it. He also removed the ritual circle and left the ROR to head to bed. A couple secret passages later and he reached the portrait of the fat lady who merely smiled and shook her head at him. "Marmalade!" he spoke the password and the portrait swung open to allow him through without a word.-

It was practically tradition at this point for a Gryffindor to break the schools rules in regards to the curfew so the fat lady was totally used to it by now. The ritual hadn't taken Nick very long to complete , merely an hour. This meant he still got to bed at a fairly decent hour which was good because that ritual had mentally exhausted him. He didn't meet the elf in his dreams on this night and woke up at dawn as per usual. Nick was in a good mood after waking up as his plans were coming together nicely and he went to breakfast with a wide grin.-

Breakfast started out fairly normal as everyone sat down and the food appeared thanks to the house elves and the meal began simply. Then shortly afterwards the owls started to fly down and deliver the mail. This was when Nick and those familiar with him were surprised as a large tawny owl landed in front of him with a small box with a letter tied to it. Nick paid the bird and gave it some bacon as a treat before sending it away with a confused look.-

"Whatcha got there mate?" Ron asked curiously and Harry also seemed curious. "I'm not sure , I don't have any family nor did I order anything so I am confused why I got mail." Nick said honestly. "Try the letter , maybe it will help." Harry suggested helpfully and Nick nodded in agreement and removed the letter from the twine of the package and looked it over. It was a simple white envelope seal with a golden wax signet seal in the shape of a capital G stylized to look like a goblins head.-

Nick didn't recognize the mark and so showed it to Ron who knew what it was immediately. "That's the Gringotts mark , this must be important!" he said seriously and Nick wasted no time breaking the seal with a knife and removing the single sheet of paper out of the envelope , the letter read as such.

{Dear Mr. Iron

We at Gringotts are writing to inform you as to the results of the inheritance test performed under the request of one Albus Percival Wulforth Dumbledore. The details of the test are in the parcel attached to this letter. We sincerely look forward to future business with you and wish you a profitable day. Sincerely- Warwick Davis.}
