Chapter 387 – It’s So Magical
A glowing cyan line appeared in his vision, on the ground, extending toward the building's entrance and beyond. This was the quest's guiding line in this game.
Max didn't follow the line immediately. Instead, he looked at the surroundings first. He was amazed by the scenery.
An old, dilapidated building that looked like an old castle stood in front of him. Around him was a garden, filled with tall trees and veins. The atmosphere was pretty mystic.
"This is new," Max muttered in amazement as his legs began to move following the guiding light. "Everything looks pretty magical. I mean, the old castle and strange forest covering the school area. The setting itself screams 'magic' for me."
— It's a magic game, please mind it
— Of course it screams magic. You're in a magic-focusing game
— It would be strange if it looked like a sci-fi building instead of an old castle.
— You're pretty strange, Breeze. What do you expect? A heartbeating romantic school?
"Well, the introduction said it's set in a modern time. So I thought…" Max's voice trailed off as the large door opened automatically when he got close.
A whirring sound of gears could be heard, followed by a loud screeching sound.
Beyond the door lay the academy's lobby. Calling it a lobby might be wrong, as it was just a garden that stretched long toward a towering building. The building was made from glass, so Max was able to see inside.
Some students experimented with magic. Some were flying around the building on a broom, chasing each other with smiles on their faces.
Tall buildings could be seen in the distance. They were similar to the usual apartments often seen in modern times.
Unlike the old castle earlier, everything inside looked modern. The guiding light extended inside toward the tallest building that looked like the main academy.
"I took back my words. This is modern, alright."
— You spoke too fast lol
— Now you want to take back your words?
— Breeze licked his own saliva kekw
— Now, what would you do?
What would he do? Foolish questions.
"Let's enter."
He walked past the door and they closed behind him with a bang. When he looked back, the space he was in earlier was gone, only a normal entrance gate could be seen.
It was cool and all, but…
"Why did they not just teleport me here?" He asked curiously as he continued to walk. "I mean, they can save some budget by not creating the old castle and the forest surrounding it."
— Foolish question, young man! It's obviously because the old castle and forest look cool and have more impact than modern buildings!
— They look cool, so what's wrong with throwing a budget to make them?!
— The castle and the forest serve a purpose to tell you that this game is focusing on magic. There is nothing wrong with that
— This noble me can understand why. That scenery makes me want to play the game. (By the way, I have resurrected.)
"Oh, I see. And sucker, welcome back. Thanks for editing that sick music video. I will give you a raise."
The chat broke into a frenzy when they heard Max say that. Some of them were surprised that BloodSucker was the one who created the MV because Lily had forgotten to put his name in the description before. Max felt that was a deliberate move, but the vampire guy didn't mind, so he left it.
The other viewers, those who had stuck long enough to understand Max's personality, were surprised by another factor.
— You give him a raise?!
— Hell has frozen. Catastrophe will befall us today!
— Will the sun rise from the West tomorrow? This is bad. I have to go to my bunker immediately!
— Damn it! Does the money grubber actually give more money to BloodSucker? I need to buy a lottery
— Guys, don't panic! Breeze raised his pay because he knew that BloodSucker would just spend that to make a stream mission!
— Makes sense! Phew… I almost made a city-wide announcement about a meteor crashing against Earth.
— That made sense. You stopped me from boarding a spaceship to have a year's vacation on the Moon while waiting for Earth to turn normal
"… You guys are strange."

Max muttered as he found the end of the guiding light. A middle-aged man with long hair in a dark robe and top hat was surrounded by students with similar robes. On top of that man's head, a purple smoke that was shaped like an exclamation mark was floating.
Upon seeing that, Max whistled.
"Even the exclamation mark looks magical. I guess that's teacher Doordod, no?" He asked, "Let's talk to him."
As he approached the teacher, his body suddenly moved by itself. He was in a state that could be called astral projection, a half-transparent body that could float in the air.
"Whoa."
However, this was different from the other game. He could still move himself in this state. The game world still continued with the cutscene as he approached his body.
"Is this because this is a magic game? To think that I can move freely like this. Usually, it's just limited to right and left."
— It is. Some games allow you to move even in the cutscene
— Peek some students' skirts, Breeze! You can do it in that state!
[Pant13s have been muted for 7 days!]
— lol he got muted
— F, my man. o7 At least you tried
"Yeah, he tried to kill me," Max grumbled.
'If I peek at a game character's skirt intentionally, Lily will definitely kill me. If she doesn't, then her brother will.'
Putting that aside, the teacher began to speak.
"Everyone is here." Doordod nodded, "Welcome to Spellbound Academy. And congratulations on passing. All students here will become the future of the wizarding world. Learn seriously. Your future is in your hands, not in anyone else. We, the teachers, can only guide you.
I hope you remember that."
"Yes, sir!" The students around him collectively answered, which included Max's character.
"Good. Now, after the test, you will be allowed to attend class. However, there are three classes that can hold 30 students. Look here, there are 45 students gathering." Doordod smiled meaningfully and raised his hand. "That means we have to further eliminate 15 students and banish them to trash class."
"Trash class?" Max asked the viewers and got the answer he needed.
— It's basically a collective class with worse teachers for bad students
— Players can enter either class, including the trash class. But if you're in trash class, you will get fewer EXP needed to create magic.
— In short, it's time to choose the difficulty. The best class is easiest, then the second class is medium, the third class is hard, and the trash class is expert.
"Ah, I understand now." He nodded.
That would be like the usual game he often played in the past.
'So we're choosing the difficulty now? But how?'
That question was answered a second later by Doordod.
"The class allocation is simple. There are dolls in this building. Find a red one to enter the first class, yellow for the second class, and purple for the third class. Those who can't find a doll will be put in the trash class. Of course, feel free to stay in this place or talk to me if you want to intentionally enter it."
Doordod smiled widely as he continued.
"I'd love to teach those courageous enough to stay. I am the trash class homeroom teacher, after all." He chuckled evilly and lowered his face. Without looking up, he shouted, "What are you waiting for? The test starts now!"
