Chapter 103: Chapter 103 – Fans and Haters
[Synchronization Test WR holder, Breeze's gameplay! He's cheating!]
A title that surprised V-Shelter Survival's players, known as survivalists, appeared in the forum. Many clips were posted in the thread, with each either having a funny moment or a cool moment of Max playing the survival game.
The focus of the other players, however, was on how he defeated Turret with a Barret, a superior sniper rifle.
— What is this? A famous person is playing our game?
└ It's the one rising lately. I watched Biozone's livestream yesterday, and he's pretty skilled.
└ Why does the title say he's cheating, then?
└ Hehe, just clickbait. I am just his fan (TS)
— Damn, having a barret to loot a warehouse? The loot isn't that much either. It's a waste of ammo!
└ It's indeed a waste
└ I agree. Does he think he's a big shot wasting ammo like that? Each of those ammos is worth 25 Scraps in the shady merchant!
└ Breeze has just played the game, it's his second day. Besides, that sniper was lent by LilyPixel so it's not his to begin with!
└ Ah, makes senses.
— He's playing like a newbie. Not worth watching!
└ At least that said newbies got 2 world records, lol. [clip.mp4] << look at this clip. He got 2 more than you kekeke
└ Kekw, haters be haters. No need to share your opinion!
└ He's a newbie, idiot! He only played games for 7 or 8 days!
└ If you want to comment something, do research first
└ All of you are disgusting fans
└ Better than you!
— His friend must be rich. To have something like that lying around
— That girl is so cute! Tell me her handle name. She's a streamer, right?
└ That's LilyPixel, StoneSword's sister
└ Agreed! That girl is so cute! Smash!
└ Be careful, that man is scary
— A second heavy loot area in his 2nd play and he already camped, huh? This guy is a real one
└ Real what? It's just a normal strategy
└ He's lucky with the RNG and the fact he has a superior sniper rifle early on.
└ Dude, he said he would solo Turret with a knife only tomorrow. Let's see if he's a real one or a fake one
└ What are you guys talking about?
— I doubt he can't play well without that rifle. Even the clip against Rocket was just lucky!
The thread was filled with comments; some praised Max, while others didn't even believe his gameplay. People on the forum often had different opinions, and it was normal.
Rather, the Knight's Journey forum was a really strange place. The haters could be counted easily. The forum's age also had an influence on the players' behavior.
Considering the Knighted Lobby was still filled with players who were charismatic enough to explore the game without hating on someone else, having new content was a blessing for them. The story would be different soon with a batch of new players.
— I will watch his stream tomorrow. Knife only Turret? That will be fun to watch.
└ It's been a while since someone did that
└ Lately the challenge has been boring. Just speedrun level 10 shelters here and there
└ Good thing we have a skilled newbie
— Eh, I will set my alarm tomorrow. I hope he doesn't disappoint.
Still, many new people got interested in Max thanks to this thread. It was just a night, but more than 100 comments were already.
After reading all of them, Max closed the hologram screen and raised his head, looking at a short-haired girl wearing an apron. It was Nina.
Currently, she was cooking for him in the restaurant kitchen. As for the restaurant itself, it was closed for the day because Chef Rush caught a cold. He was too tired of getting too many customers in the past 3 days on top of his usual workout.
"Hmm hmmm~ Lalala~" Nina hummed happily as she added spices to the pot. Her appearance was like a fairy dancing in the kitchen hall.
Scooping a little soup with a ladle into a small bowl, she tried it and beamed into a smile.
"Hnn! This is good." Nina exclaimed and turned around. "Do you want to taste it, Max? Please tell me if it needs more salt or is just right." She scooped another soup and put it in a new bowl before handing it to Max.
Taking the bowl, he took a sip of the soup and was surprised.
"This is really great."
The soup tasted better than even Chef Rush's noodles.
"There is nothing more to comment, Nina. In my whole life of eating in this restaurant, this might be the best soup that I tasted."
"R-Really? You don't need to exaggerate it to make me happy." Her face turned slightly red from embarrassment. She pulled the apron up to hide it.
"Did you ever hear me lying in this kitchen? I even confronted your dad three days ago!" Max exclaimed with a serious face. "That was scary, though. But I would never lie if it's about food or money. That's why Chef Rush trusts me to taste his dish before putting it on the menu."
"W-Well…" Nina felt troubled and got more embarrassed as she heard Max, "Thank you? Also, just wait outside! I will bring the dish to you soon. I won't be able to concentrate on cooking with you watching me from behind!"
Max nodded and chuckled. "Hahaha, fine."
He turned around and left the kitchen. But before he exited, he stopped and looked at Nina, noticing a happy smile on her face. She was happy to be praised for her cooking.
'Her dream is to continue this restaurant, after all. I am glad she can smile happily again with just one stream. I might promote this place again in the near future. Maybe I should invite some friends too.'
Friends, in this case, were Flexy and Lily. StoneSword also flashed in his mind, but he didn't know whether he would accept his invitation.
Max read the thread from earlier again as he waited in a corner, his usual table. He noticed two familiar names commented on the thread. The second one had changed his name back to the previous one.
— Cap! This bastard is so good that he ate all my money! He's no newbie or a lucky one like you idiots think
— As someone who followed Breeze from his first stream, I must say that he's a really skilled newbie. His world record is proof of his amazing mechanics inside the VR game.
"BloodSucker and FreakingNoob? Those guys are defending me from haters, huh? Honestly, why can't they just be like this in the chat? They look normal."
Also, he hadn't noticed it before, but he had two unread messages. He put them on silent in the kitchen to avoid disturbing Nina.
"Well, who is it?" He muttered curiously as he opened the message, hoping it wasn't another hacker.
[Flexy: Buddy! I saw the thread. How could you leave me behind? We will play V-Shelter together tonight! I won't take no from you!]
[StoneSword: Do you mind if I accompany my sister tonight? Also, if I am allowed to, let us put each other's link in the stream description. I believe it will help our channel grow further.]
Reading those messages, Max's jaw dropped.
"What?"
