Chapter 58 Invincible
Standing opposite Xavier, the Juggernaut was towering over him, and the size difference was a joke.
It was like pitting a child against a gully grown adult, and even then the child appeared to hold a slim chance.
But based on size and appearance alone, it appeared as though Xavier had a better chance of being struck by lightning.
Achara, who was confident in Xavier's capabilities and believed in him, was starting to worry that he wouldn't be able to win this fight, let alone two more.
And even Xavier himself was starting to have his doubts, knowing that he was far from invincible and still had a long way to go.
However, there was no giving up and the mission reward was just too good to ignore, while it wasn't like Xavier would have turned back even if he could.
Always seeking a new challenge to overcome, and having an unwavering self-confidence that had been reinforced even more by the system, Xavier was looking forward to his battle against the so-called Juggernaut.
And it started sooner than he expected, with them suddenly being permitted to start.
"You may begin!"
-
Swoosh!
Instantly, after they were permitted to start, despite their start being sudden, before the Juggernaut could even move or react, Xavier had unleashed a powerful, explosive, and rapid attack.
Bursting off his feet, he had to jump into the air to land a kick on his opponent's head, and he landed a clean blow on the side of his head, before jumping back and creating some distance between them.
Certain that he had landed a powerful blow as soon as their fight began, Xavier was confident he would come out on top.
However, unlike what he was expecting, the Juggernaut seemed completely unfazed by his kick and shook his head slightly before glaring at him.
Xavier was sure that his kick could have easily knocked out your average guy, and had enough power behind it to at least have rattled him and caused him to stumble back.
Especially since he had struck his temple.
But, he was almost completely unaffected by his attack and became even more infuriated after being struck by it, as he let out a monstrous roar.
He was barely human and almost appeared to be invincible, as he charged toward Xavier and put out his arms, seeking to grab him.
Xavier was surprised by how quick his humongous opponent was, but still managed to back away and avoid his clutches.
However, while doing so, he felt immense danger from the Juggernaut.
Even without his Gangster Instincts, it was clear that allowing himself to be grabbed by him was as good as forfeiting the fight and asking to get hurt, but it was even worse than he had initially thought.
Trusting his instincts, he was sure that if his opponent got a hand on him at any time, crushing him and dealing him severe injuries would be easy.
No amount of technique or speed could help one overcome his strength, weight and power once they were in his clutches, unless they could rival him in those things.
And Xavier certainly wasn't someone that could do so.
Knowing that, he had to be careful, but how on Earth was he supposed to take down his opponent without getting close to them?!
"Where'd your confidence go? Come at me, kid!" the Juggernaut taunted.
However, Xavier knew that any slight mistake against an opponent that was that much stronger than him could instantly cause him to lose the fight, so he wasn't provoked to do so.
But that didn't stop his opponent from attempting to get a hold of him.
Putting out his arms to grab his Xavier as he continuously followed after him, the Juggernaut was struggling to even get close to his agile opponent that jumped around the cage.
"You fucker! Fight me head-on and stop being a coward!"
Xavier didn't bother responding and just continued observing his opponent while remaining careful and vigilant, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
-
After a few more failed attempts at getting close to Xavier, who was very nimble and continued avoiding his opponent, the Juggernaut was losing his mind while the crowd was disappointed.
They wanted to see Xavier getting crushed or at least put on a show, but he was merely avoiding all the Juggernaut's attempts at tussling with him.
It was impressive how flawless and rapid his movements were, and the Juggernaut was by no means slow, which was incredible considering his size.
However, it still wasn't what they were expecting and hoping for as they began to boo loudly.
As they did, Xavier could see the Juggernaut's face distort slightly, and he clearly sought to please the crowd.
From the cheers he received upon entering the cage, he was clearly a crowd-favourite, and feeling the pressure to live up to his reputation, he became even more desperate to crush Xavier.
"Argh! Attack me!" he yelled, after continuously failing to close in on Xavier, who remained calm and observed his movements.
Considering his size, Xavier was surprised by how swiftly he could move, and although not comparable to himself, it was still impressive and he couldn't underestimate him.
For him to be ranked 90th and so famed, to the point that even Achara was wary of his skills, Xavier was taking his fight against him very seriously and any mistake could be the end of him.
But, he couldn't avoid him the entire time and he also wanted to put on a show and make a name for himself.
Taking a deep breath, he suddenly burst towards the Juggernaut, who thought that he would be running away until he tired him out.
"Here goes nothing," he mumbled to himself before unexpectedly launching himself towards his huge opponent.
-
Knowing that merely avoiding his opponent wouldn't allow him to win and wouldn't help to build himself a reputation, Xavier went for it and decided to attack unlike what most would expect.
The size and strength differences were too great, but nothing is impossible to overcome, especially for Xavier who would always find a way.
And after watching his movements for a short while, he was confident that his large opponent had incredible balance, adopting a similar stance to sumo wrestlers, but while moving around, he was vulnerable.
Having infuriated him both directly and indirectly, Xavier had been able to get the Juggernaut to continue chasing him around the cage, and just as his opponent's guard began to drop, he unleashed a sudden attack.
It is inevitable for most to become complacent when the opponent appears to be afraid and has been avoiding them, but that was dangerous, especially against a skilled opponent...
