Gangster System: I Will Become The Greatest Gangster!

Chapter 113 Appreciation

Xavier didn't bother resisting as he was dragged into the small room by the 5 elite guards that served the one-eyed demon, and even if he had tried to, it would have been to no avail.

All 5 of them had strength comparable to that of Connor's despite having physiques that weren't as large, but that's not to say that they weren't larger than most.

But since it also seemed as though they didn't have any malicious intent and weren't out to harm him, while they had also helped him, Xavier was calm and curious as to what it was that they wanted.

-

Xavier's exchange with the one-eyed demon had been eye-opening for not only the one-eyed demon, but also himself, and he learnt a lot about himself and the giant man who was revered by many.

In the future, it was inevitable that he'd eventually get blood on his hands. He would be the boss of a giant gang if all of his dreams came to fruition, so it was safe to assume so.

And although in the process, he'd be able to help a lot of people with the money, power and influence that he accumulated, that didn't change the fact that he couldn't be entirely proud of how he had achieved what he had.

Just thinking about his mother's reaction to finding out all the different criminal avenues he was planning on getting involved in, pained Xavier's heart.

But at the same time, he had already decided before acquiring the Gangster System that he'd do his all to succeed. And he realised that he was slowly starting to care less about what it took to become the greatest gangster.

It was scary to watch the lines he drew for himself start to blur, but it certainly wasn't a bad thing.

He felt as though he was maturing and, although he wasn't planning on taking it to the extent that the one-eyed demon had, he realised that he wouldn't be able to become the greatest gangster without getting his hands dirty.

However, unlike the one-eyed demon, Xavier was already mentally prepared for that and it would always be his own decision to do whatever he did.

That way he couldn't blame others, and since he would compensate for his 'bad' acts with the good that he did, he would always keep a clear conscience.

It was the guilt that killed not actually committing the acts themselves, and that realisation was one that Xavier was glad he had come to so early on.

And it seemed as though what the 5 elite guards that served the one-eyed demon wanted to speak about had something to do with his talk with their boss.

-

Of course, Xavier was grateful to them for stopping the one-eyed demon from pulling down his mask and taking his life. There had also been a couple of times so far that they had saved him from their boss.

But at the same time, he couldn't get a clear read on the 5 of them. They seemed to be both annoyed and impressed by him at the same time, while they were much better at concealing their thoughts than their boss.

However, one of them said 2 words that caused his heart to sink.

"Xavier Kenji."

'Damn it. They caught on to my identity already, but for how long have they known?' he thought to himself.

Despite that, his facial expression didn't change in the slightest, and from looking at him in his eyes, one wouldn't have guessed that he truly was Xavier.

But they didn't seem to have any malicious intentions and since they hadn't revealed his identity to the one-eyed demon and had helped him conceal it, Xavier remained calm.

-

"What do you want from me?" he asked bluntly while pulling down his mask.

They were surprised by his actions and even began to doubt whether he truly was Xavier Kenji since he didn't react in the slightest after one of them said his name. However, his actions confirmed to them that he was.

"It's damn hard to breathe with this mask on all day," he added before shaking off all their grips and taking a seat nonchalantly.

"Fuck, he really is just a kid. Our investigation pointed to him being Xavier Kenji, but it was so hard to believe. Did he also go through that...?"

Another of the 5 cleared his throat, signalling him to stop talking.

"If that's it, I have places to be," said Xavier, as he got up to leave, but as he did, the 5 suddenly became serious and remembered what they had brought him there to speak about.

"Listen, kid, don't come back here or ever show your face anywhere near the Wolf Gang. Maybe when you're a bit older, but to be frank, it's not worth it."

"There are plenty of kids your age that work for us, but none are as skilled as you. So why don't you try to become a professional fighter or something?"

"And with that cash, you won't have to worry about money for quite a few years if you aren't an idiot, so you can just go back to school and give the money to your mother."

"Because if you don't agree to do as we said, we'll have to put you down and maybe even your mother..."

However, as soon as Xavier's mother was mentioned, he sprung up so quickly that even the 5 of them struggled to react in time. But despite his speed, they still drew their weapons faster than he could act.

And even if he had acted, even 1 of them would have been enough to suppress and take him down.

"Do you think we are playing games?"

Firing his gun into the air, there was a loud bang, and despite Xavier not flinching, it was quite an intimidating display.

"If you ever show your face before us again, even though you're a kid, we'll have to kill you and your mother, and we aren't bluffing. You've seen what the boss can do. Imagine if we revealed to him your identity. And if we can't reach an agreement now, then..."

"I get it," interrupted Xavier, who had got the gist of what they had wanted to speak to him about.

And despite their threats, he was surprised by the fact that they were looking out for him.

Considering that they had been intimidating him for a while and trying to get him to avoid the one-eyed demon, it was likely that they discovered his identity a while ago.

But that alone was enough to amaze Xavier.

'I thought I was careful, but I guess I underestimated these 5, way too much. I even underestimated the one-eyed demon. How can a human be that strong and animalistic to the point of literally ripping someone's arms off before crushing their head?' he thought to himself as he smiled.

Lowering his head slightly, he showed respect for the first time since showing up at the fight club and thanked them sincerely.

"I appreciate it and understand that you're looking out for me. I also recognise that you've got your hands full with that boss of yours. He's basically an animal at this point, and you are looking out for him as well when you get me never to show up again, so I will respect that and am grateful for your help," said Xavier, surprisingly formally and politely.

"So I will do as you said. With this money, I won't have to come to the fight club again anyway, so you don't have to worry. You'll never see me again until it's time," he added with a grin.

"Until it's time?" they questioned in unison.

"You'll see."

Xavier's expression made them feel anxious and they weren't sure what he was speaking about. However, they didn't pay much heed to it and were just glad that he listened to their words and recognised their actions.

He was so perceptive, capable and confident at such a young, and even after having guns aimed at him multiple times, almost dying and seeing the death of 2 women, he never once lost composure.

Besides that, somehow he had been able to make so much money from betting on fights, and now that they confirmed how young he was, it was even more impressive.

Especially since he had such a traumatic childhood, that reminded them of their own and was one of the biggest reasons that they had looked out for him.

But thankfully things had worked out and they had managed to come to an agreement.

-

Xavier shook all of their hands and started seeing the 5 of them in a different light.

Unlike the one-eyed demon, they had many redeeming factors and hadn't completely lost their humanity, while he also owed them for helping him.

So to end things on a positive note, he asked them one last thing before preparing to leave.

"All 5 of you know my name, so what are yours? It's only fair that I know your names before I bid the Wild Dog Fight Club goodbye."

However, behind Xavier's question was a well-concealed ulterior motive, and after learning more about the one-eyed demon and his 5 elite guards, he had internally started changing his plans.

And with some more information and preparation, forming a plan that would involve much less conflict, risk and loss, was very much possible.

But first, the real question was whether they would give him their names, and even if they did, would they be their real names?

However, the answer that Xavier received was far from what he was expecting and completely caught him off guard.
