Chapter 537 - Stirring Up Trouble Again (1)

Chapter 537: Stirring Up Trouble Again (1)

When Zhao Youlin and Mu Tingfeng heard this, they were taken aback. They exchanged glances and heaved a sigh as they said, “We have no idea about anything concerning Su He’s stay in the hospital.”

The anticipation in Ye Yan’s eyes turned dim once again. He feigned a smile. Just as he was about to say something else, Zhao Youlin added, “Tingfeng and I have been busy handling our wedding. Therefore, we couldn’t spare time to pay a visit to Xiao He in the hospital. Now that Xiao He has been released from the hospital and my wedding is over, it’s best if we arrange to pay her a visit someday.”

Ye Yan was stunned for a while before reacting to Zhao Youlin’s words and quickly looked up. On his face, there was a visible glee that sprouted from the bottom of his heart.

Zhao Youlin was used to seeing Ye Yan behaving elegantly and gentlemanly. As such, she could not bear to watch Ye Yan in his current demeanor. Indeed, when a person falls in love, his intelligence plummets!

Zhao Youlin smiled awkwardly before she said, “We’ll let you know about Xiao He’s situation after the visit.”

Ye Yan was overjoyed. “Thank you very much in advance. I am in your debt. If you ever need my assistance again, please know that I will do my absolute best.”

“Don’t mention it.”

Ye Yan’s face brightened after receiving the desired response. For the rest of the conversation, he no longer spoke stiffly and awkwardly.

However, Ye Yan looked like he had been extremely busy over the past few days. While he was casually conversing with Zhao Youlin and the rest of her group, he left to pick up a call.

Ye Yan had not even greeted Ling Ran before leaving. As a result, he asked Zhao Youlin and the rest of her group to inform Ling Ran on his behalf that he was leaving.

Zhao Youlin and the rest of her group were free as soon as Ye Yan left. Before rushing to the church, the brides had been busy with their preparations and make-up. As a result, they had not taken in any food. When things slowed and they stood about idly, they felt a pang of hunger.

The grooms were mindful that their brides had been wearing their gowns all day and were exhausted. They were considerate and took on the mission of bringing food for them while their brides remained in place.

Right after Mu Tingfeng and Han Yichen left, an unexpected guest came to them.

As Zhao Youlin looked at the approaching young man, she paused her conversation with An Yue. An Yue was puzzled. She cast a glance at Zhao Youlin who had fallen silent all of a sudden and asked, “Youlin, what’s the matter?”

Zhao Youlin made a shaky motion with her head. She took An Yue’s hand in hers and reminded her, “No matter what happens, don’t butt in or don’t snap in. Just sit and wait. If someone greets you, you respond to him. Don’t bother the rest, okay?”

An Yue did not quite understand Zhao Youlin’s words. However, she gave her a nod obediently and shut her mouth.

Zhao Youming went up to Zhao Youlin and An Yue. He initiated the conversation. “Youlin, congratulations to you.”

“Thank you.” Zhao Youlin smiled in response.

Zhao Youming then moved his gaze away from Zhao Youlin and settled on An Yue. He said to her sweetly, “You are my cousin-in-law now.”

An Yue was not good at dealing with strangers, especially the Zhao family’s relatives whom she had never met. Furthermore, Zhao Youlin had already reminded her to speak less. As a result, An Yue simply nodded coldly when Zhao Youming complimented her.

A glimpse of bone-chilling light flashed across Zhao Youming’s eyes. He then turned his head around and resumed his conversation with Zhao Youlin. “Today is your special day. Why did I not see Third Uncle and Third Aunt, as well as Yifei? I find the atmosphere to be a little less lively without them.”

Zhao Youming spoke without a hint of remorse. However, when others heard of his words, they thought that he was actually referring to the type of remorse in which Zhao Youlin’s Third Uncle and his family were unable to attend her wedding.

However, Zhao Youlin knew him very well. What Zhao Youming was referring to was the type of remorse that Third Uncle’s family had not shown up and caused a commotion at her wedding. As a result, he had missed a good show.

Zhao Youlin narrowed her eyes. Her smile remained unbroken. She heaved a sigh and appeared to be extremely regretful as she said in resignation, “Indeed. Third Uncle and Third Aunt couldn’t possibly miss Yichen and my wedding. I’ve already had someone specially invite them over earlier. Unfortunately, it looks like they are too preoccupied with Yifei to come.”

“Is Yifei hurt?” Could he have been… at the banquet the last time? Youlin, you…” Zhao Youming purposely blamed it on Zhao Youlin.

Zhao Youlin did not give in to him. She snorted, “Everyone at the banquet saw that Uncle Zhao had helped Yifei with his arm before he left. Therefore, I was not the one who injured him. Instead, I’m curious as to why you would attribute Yifei’s injury to the banquet, and that I was the primary perpetrator. Or, to put it another way, Chief Zhao, do you know anything else?”

Zhao Youming was stunned when he was pushed back all of a sudden. He quickly refuted, “Youlin, don’t simply accuse me. I’m completely clueless. It’s just that when you mentioned Yifei’s injury, I suddenly remembered the incident where you fought with him and made a big scene at Duan Yarong’s banquet. Yifei was injured as a result. Therefore, it’s only my own speculation.”

“Oh, really?” Zhao Youlin grinned and did not say anything. She stared straight into Zhao Youming’s eyes.

Zhao Youming’s heart clenched upon meeting Zhao Youlin’s sharp gaze. He fought to keep the smile on his face.

An Yue remembered Zhao Youlin’s instruction before this. She sat quietly at the side as she listened to their conversation.

Despite the fact that she was not involved in their verbal sparring, she unwittingly hunched her shoulders and felt darkness run between them.

Zhao Youming’s expression grew increasingly dark. When Zhao Youlin saw this, she knew that she had achieved her purpose. She decided to restrain herself when the time came. The next moment, she said faintly, “Speaking of which, Chief Zhao, I must inquire as to why Second Uncle did not attend my wedding? It’s okay if Third Uncle and Third Aunt are not present, but why Second Uncle couldn’t attend today, then? Could it be that he was called away for an emergency and was unable to make himself available, just like last time?”

Zhao Youming heaved a sigh of relief when Zhao Youlin took the initiative to switch the topic. However, when he heard the mention of Zhao Shuncheng, the smile on his face turned stiff. It took him some time before he said, “I heard that my father came to look for you not long ago.”

Zhao Youlin did not answer Zhao Youming’s question. She raised one of her eyebrows and asked back, “You heard from someone else?”

Zhao Youming was rendered speechless. He paused for a moment before he said, “I heard that my father had said something that had offended you last time when he came to look for you. Therefore, I would like to apologize on my father’s behalf. He has been agitated lately and could not think clearly. As a result, he spewed a great deal of nonsense. Youlin, I hope you don’t take his words to heart..”
