Chapter 1933: Zheng Yiran's Self-detonation
Chapter 1933: Zheng Yiran's Self-detonation
Even more concerning was the fact that there was no end to the abyssal army.
All abyssal creatures that perished would simply return to the abyssal plane, and the low-grade abyssal creatures were able to resurrect themselves so quickly that they were barely absent from the battlefield before they returned. In contrast, all deaths suffered by the human army were irreversible, and if things were to continue like this, then the human army had no chance.
Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena were completely unable to assist the human army. The two dragon spears revolving around them were suppressed by Heavenly Saint Abyssal Rift, rendering them unable to fly out to devour abyssal energy.
Even though the Holy Lord couldn't kill them in a short time, he was able to keep them from devouring abyssal energy.
"Boom!"
Finally, the defensive line was breached. The defensive soul tools around the breached site had been destroyed, and a huge number of abyssal creatures immediately converged toward the breach.
Right at this moment, a ball of silver light descended from the heavens before instantly spreading as a vast expanse of silver patterns on the ground, filling the entire breach.
As a result, the abyssal creatures that had gathered there were instantly immobilized.
Luo Guixing appeared not far away, and currently, his face was rather pale.
There was no lack of powerful beings among these abyssal creatures, and it was certainly no easy task to control so many of them at once.
However, the breach in the defensive line had to be reinforced at all costs. Otherwise, the entire human army could be overwhelmed in a very short time.
If the abyssal army were to break through the defensive line, it would immediately advance toward the Douluo Continent, and that would be absolutely disastrous.
A black figure flashed past, and a large swathe of abyssal creatures were sliced apart, transforming into abyssal energy that surged away into the distance. The black figure was none other than Xu Yucheng, who was wielding his lethal scythe.
Currently, all of Shrek's Six Monsters were engaged in battle against abyssal rulers, so they were the only ones who were able to reinforce the defensive lines.
However, right as they stabilized the situation here, another resounding boom rang out not far away, and an even larger opening was breached. Abyssal creatures rushed into the opening like water out of a broken dam, and it was too late to stop them.
Xu Yucheng and Luo Guixing could only look on with desperation and resignation in their eyes. There were simply far too many abyssal creatures for them to handle. If the human army were at its peak, then perhaps they would've been able to hold their own with help from the heavy ion laser weapons and infrasonic weapons. However, the losses suffered during the battle had been far too severe. In particular, they no longer had artillery support from the sea, and most of the air units had also been destroyed, leaving them with no chance. No matter how valiantly Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena were fighting, the human army was still in a completely passive situation.
Right at this moment, a scream suddenly rang out from the larger opening in the defensive line that had just been created.
"Die, you bastards!"
Xu Yucheng and Luo Guixing's expressions changed drastically upon hearing this voice, and both of them yelled in unison, "Don't do it!"
Not far away, a giant green snake suddenly appeared in mid-air, and immediately thereafter, the snake exploded violently, sending scales flying in all directions alongside a vast expanse of dark green mist.
All abyssal creatures, regardless of their caliber, would quickly melt into puddles of pus upon coming into even the slightest contact with this mist.
What was even more terrifying was that the green mist continued to cling to the abyssal creatures even after they had disintegrated into abyssal energy, and as this abyssal energy returned to the abyss, it contaminated many more nearby abyssal creatures, thereby resulting in even further deaths.
"Yiran!" A heartbroken cry rang out as a giant bear swooped down from the heavens before smashing a Ba'an into mincemeat with a single strike.
The bear's eyes were bright red, and it had clearly been driven to extreme fury and grief.
The massive green snake had been none other than Zheng Yiran. She had self-detonated to spread her poison all over the battlefield, felling countless abyssal creatures in the process, but she had also perished.
As her lover, Yang Nianxia was naturally beyond distraught to see this.
They were once classmates with Tang Wulin and had competed with him in the past, and now, one of them had fallen in this battle.
The Sage Sovereign, who had already noticed what was happening, pointed his staff downward, and all of the abyssal energy that had been contaminated by Zheng Yiran's poison descended onto the ground instead of continuing to travel back toward the abyssal passageway.
Even so, a huge number of abyssal creatures had been poisoned to death during this brief span of time, and the pressure around the breach was finally alleviated.
Zheng Yiran had bought the human army some time with her life.
The Sage Sovereign cast a cold gaze across the entire battlefield. The Spirit Sovereign had only just been resurrected and hadn't fully recovered yet, so aside from the Holy Lord, the Sage Sovereign was the highest-ranking member of the abyssal army.
"Foolish humans, your resistance is futile; all you're doing is delaying your inevitable defeat."
......
Out at sea.
Just like the rest of the world, the sea was also plunged into complete darkness, and the purple sun in the sky was giving off a sense of oppressive dread.
A series of ships were quickly sailing over the water, and in the cabin of the largest of those ships, a handsome young man was currently looking out the window at the outside world.
Ever since the emergence of the darkness and the purple sun, he had been struck by a sense of immense pressure.
However, it was very difficult to communicate with anyone out at sea, so he still had no idea what had happened. As such, he could only wait for further information.
"News has finally arrived, Brother, and it's not good news!" An urgent voice rang out, and a young woman in casual sportswear rushed over with anxiety shimmering in her large eyes.
"A full-scale battle has broken out between the abyssal plane and the Douluo Federation. The Holy Spirit Cult was entirely wiped out, but the ruler of the abyssal plane, the Holy Lord, has descended and sealed away the powers of our Douluo Plane's planar ruler. Currently, he's battling Tang Wulin and the others, and Tang Wulin was grievously wounded earlier. What should we do? How much longer will it take for us to get there?"
Dai Yueyan's brows furrowed tightly as he said, "Now's not the time to panic; give me all of the information that we've received."
Indeed, the young man standing in the cabin was none other than the prince of the Star Luo Empire, Dai Yueyan, while the young woman was naturally his sister, Dai Yun'er.
Dai Yun'er took a moment to compose herself before giving her brother a brief summary of the situation on the front lines.
Back when the abyssal passageway had first been opened up in the northernmost region of the Douluo Continent, both the Star Luo Empire and Dou Spirit Empire had received an SOS message from the Tang Sect.
The Tang Sect and Shrek Academy were well aware of how formidable the abyssal plane was, so Tang Wulin and the Limit Douluos had decided that they had to unite all of the power that they could to contend with the abyssal plane together.
The Douluo Star didn't just belong to the Douluo Continent; it belonged just as much to the other two continents as well! If the Douluo Continent were to be conquered by the abyssal army, then the destruction of the entire planet would quickly follow. If even the Douluo Federation couldn't weather this storm, then what chances would the Star Luo Empire and Dou Spirit Empire have of faring any better?
After some careful consideration, the king of the Star Luo Empire finally agreed to send out a fleet of ships as reinforcements.
However, only less than 20 days had passed since the commencement of the battle, and the fleet had only completed less than half of its lengthy journey to the Douluo Continent, yet the human army was already in a dire situation.
