Code Zulu Alpha: Nerd in the Apocalypse!

Chapter 1342 One More Time

So, before we literally ended the day, with the authority granted to me and Captain Dagan—while Mr. & Mrs.

Garciano were closely shadowing us—we led a third of his forces who were supposed to hold their fort to clear out the three nearest infestations which was the road leading to this area, the other gated community—which was twice as big as this place—called Northgate Executive Homes, and this small-ish subdivision right below it which was right next to a high school and an old school church.

Surprisingly enough, the third of Mr. Garciano's forces were like starving animals that were left off for the first time to hunt.

Even without our help they easily mowed down the hundreds of dregs occupying the fastest road to and from the main highway—making it an easier and faster route once we go back—but they all fucking shat bricks when my group and I let loose in the Northgate Executive Homes.

Despite having only half of my fighting force present—Artem and his group someplace else leading half of pups—it just gave everyone else more space to move around, and yeah, I haven't stretched my legs from the past few days, and this was just the right area to forgo my rifle and use my katana and wakizashi with both hands.

And yeah, even if Tatiana had the Principe, Quinn with her modded polearm, and Ibarra with his retractable spear, they could only support and trail from behind as I left a pile of corpses the moment I jumped inside the gate and attracted the majority of these territorial deadheads that chose this place as their breeding guard AND resting place.

Even now, I couldn't believe the benefits of a few days of rest to my body because a rested body could definitely do more than a fatigued one—and even though my stress levels were at an all-time high, when did it ever go down? So, while I'm still living with it, I chose to de-stress by lopping heads in one go or dismembering undead walkers in a flash with a quick flick of my wrists.

Still, I can't just lop heads off normally since I wouldn't exactly hit their fatal weak point, so each time I'd swing my blade in a compact arc, the most fucked up bowl made from a deadhead's dome would drop down first before whatever was left of their noggin' would follow.

After that, they'd either fall straight down or buckle on their knees—and depending on whether or now we'd see black goo or nothing inside compared to the usual decaying gray matter, the ones behind me, usually Tatiana or Quinn would rip their bodies apart for good measure.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Sure, half the puppers were still present and were being led by JP, though I made them fan out to the other end of the loop so we wouldn't inconvenience each other by having too many cooks to just cook a simple soup.

However, let's just say that the soup we were preparing needed a little bit of my touch because the moment we got to the central core of the area was when each and every deadhead hiding in these middle-to-high-income homes started popping out one after the other.

Obviously, that was when Kaley and Jared had an active role in the scenario—including Ibarra since he quickly switched to his rifle due to the impending rush, but Quinn and Tatiana held their ground with their handheld weapons with me as we occupied a small area where not a single deadhead could pass while at the same time eviscerates anything it comes close to once we move its radius.

And yeah, of course, June was still riding inside my Raptor but she was recently promoted to reloading duty—and she was pretty good at it, even without Ilana—so while we didn't need her drone flying around to scout, she was in charge of reloading any magazine my group would throw at her, and we were thankful to her for it.

At the current moment, Jared was standing on the roof of my truck while Kaley was on the truckbed with June—Ibarra on the ground with us three, and he was also in charge of moving the truck a few meters once our spacing would get a little cramped.

Still, Kaley was the one making it too easy for us because she'd ran through magazines faster than a fucking noob would restart the game while playing a FromSoft game, because she'd easily go through three mags while Jared was still at his first.

To be fair, Jared was in charge of putting down specials while Kaley was in charge of taking down anything that shouldn't be moving, but still, Ibarra who almost had the same job as her couldn't keep up.

And for the puppies' case, I didn't have an idea of what they were currently doing—but since they were in the same situation as us while in a different location, JP's nonstop barking of orders told me that they were doing kind of okay with a little bit of struggle.

But yeah, Mr. Garciano's troops didn't know where to step in because they were afraid they'd ruin our formation but June just ordered them through her earpiece to just move the bodies we put down to a corner and make sure that they were all cut to equal pieces and piled on top of another.

Funnily enough, Captain Dagan and Sgt. Lorraine thought that June was a high-ranking officer in my party since she just told them off like it was nothing, but yeah, I'd give the same order as she did but I was just busy trying to see what's the inside of everyone else's brain by slicing off just the right amount of their dome with my treasured blades.

It sounds psychotic, I know, but it do be just like that sometimes.

So, of course, we cleared the area in a little over an hour and spend almost the same time checking each house and finding meager loot, but once we were about to do the same thing to the subdivision below, Captain Dagan insisted that we rest and have his troops finish it the rest of the way.

"You sure?"

"Y-Yes, sir, it was a display, really! It's just that my troops haven't gone out much and we'd love you to leave some for us."

"Okay?"

"And another thing…"

"Hmm?"

"If I may ask, can you watch over them with your drone and see where they could improve upon? We have our way of doing things but we'd like some input from you as well."
