Chapter 216: Clues About Kazuma's Mission

Chapter 216: Clues About Kazuma's Mission

What the hell?

What the hell is this message? What did Moonlight mean that they are going to follow me? Did they perhaps found out that I am in another world?

"That is a huge possibility Kazuma," Blue said, suddenly talking while I am still confused on Moonlight's message.

"There is no way for them to know that I am in another world. I am even interacting with the others on the chat many times to avoid the suspicion that I am currently in another world!"

"We don't know for sure Kazuma. Perhaps they have some sort of different meaning to those words and you just understood them in the wrong way perhaps?"

I scratched my head in confusion. Are they going to follow me out in here? Damn, what the hell are the others responsible for this mission a secret doing?!

Let's go back 3 months ago on Earth

I am Tsuki Akari, but many calls me Moonlight. And to be honest, I prefer to be called that than my name. It's still the same thing though, just different spelling but it has the same meaning anyways. Okay, back to the topic. Currently, we have ended our classes just now and today is the beginning of winter break. It's been a while since Kazuma has gone to the mission. Anya is already energetic and quite the hyper one despite being a child of a dragon. Despite the main reason of Kazuma undertaking the mission is for him to obtain the medicine needed for Anya, the mission he got is taking him too long that I doubt our classmates would remember him if he goes back to school.

Kazuma didn't tell anything about the mission as he said that the mission is currently confidential and the info is not easily possible to be spread out for anyone to know. Anya wanted to find Kazuma and follow him but because we have no idea where he was, we have no choice. I asked Godou and Maple if they knew anything but they shook their heads. I also asked Erina and her mom but the two also have no idea about it. I tried asking the mission counter in the Magician Society but no valuable info is currently available for my status. Apparently, only the higher ups like Nekoyama-sama and Zacharias are able to know the contents of the mission.

I sighed and walk back home, at loss on what to do. The missions of exterminating demons and other phenomena have lessen and most of the magicians staying in the Magician Society building are the ones who will grab the mission and even the hardest missions issued are already taken, which is why its getting boring without any kind of action to do.

While on the way home, I saw someone leaning on the wall and currently fiddling on her phone. Apparently, it was the School Belle of our school and the one who managed to avoid the power of control during my last mission alongside Kazuma. I also remembered that she didn't receive the memory wiping magic despite being a normal human.

I tried ignoring her but when she noticed that it was me, she blocked my way using her body.

"Huh? Arisa?"

"We need to talk Akari-san."

"What is this about?"

"I know that you and Kazuma are magicians. I have some info I might be able to give to you."

My face turned serious hearing this. Since it is about the magic stuff, we can't let anyone know this.

"We can't talk here, let's go to my house."

When we arrive home, Ied Arisa to my room.

"Take a seat, I will bring some refreshments," I said and used telekinesis to take food and juice on the refrigerator. I looked at Arisa's reaction to my magic and to my surprise, she didn't say anything at all, and she seemed to be not surprised on my magic.

Once I served the food and drinks, I decided to spark up the conversation.

"So? What is this info you are talking about?"

"Alright. I am assuming that you are looking for Kazuma's whereabouts isn't it? I know where he is right now."

I was assuming that Arisa is just going to spout some nonsense but the moment she said it, my interest is suddenly peaked in.

"You know where Kazuma is?"

"Yes. I am exposed to magic and I know what are the lives you live in. I also know about the portals appearing here on Earth and its connections. And one of this portals is where Kazuma is."

"Portals? You mean the G.A.T.E.S?"

"No. I know that you meant the same portal appearing at school every late afternoon till nighttime. But no. I am not talking about those portals. Did you know that there is a part of Akihabara right now that it is in a tight security?"

When she mentioned that, I have indeed heard about it from my classmates especially those who are frequent in Akihabara. One part of Akiba is guarded by many people. It was also mentioned in the chat group that the people in the Akihabara that are guarding the place are all magicians and they are currently on standby as they have noticed some sort of anomaly in there. I didn't think too much about it since there is nothing for me to do in there and nothing is interesting.

"So? What about that place?"

Arisa did not answer immediately but she took a deep breath before she suddenly disappeared.

"Huh?! Is that magic?!" I stood up in shock and looked around.

"Yes. I manifested the ability to use invisibility magic. Basically, I am also a magician now."

"You just awakened to your power without the help of any kind from any magician? You know, like a catalyst or a mentor?"

"I am thinking that my abilities manifested the moment I became aware of the magic and real magicians. It is also some sort of accidental activation as I didn't even know about it until I suddenly activated it."

"When did you awaken this ability?

"A few weeks after you guys rescued me from the enemy you guys are tracking last time."

"So, if you have the invisibility ability, does that mean...?"

"Yes. I used it to sneak out and see the portal. I saw Kazuma before going to this place before he stopped going to school. That's when I discover that the guards guarding there is a portal. And not just any portal but a portal that connects this world to another world."
