Jingsheng Enterprise was a giant company that was involved in various fields. The achievements at the enterprise had been excellent through the years. The CEO was the famous Jing Zhongxiu, who appeared on the Forbes Asia List every year. He was an important and renowned person with great power in A City. Jingsheng Enterprise made headlines in the financial section of media in A City almost all year round. Even the garbage pickers knew the president’s name.
And, she was going to be assistant to the President of Jingsheng Enterprise??
Shangguan Ning felt as if she were in a dream. This was an enterprise which everyone strived hard to get inside and she had been given direct access to the top – to become the President’s assistant!
It was known that a huge enterprise like Jingsheng needed an assistant to President who was able to reach to the core of the enterprise and to serve well at the President’s side. The assistant would also have powerful say within the company and when the President was not available, the assistant would, to some degree, carry out the right to govern the enterprise on his behalf.
“Uncle, well... I do have a high educational degree. But I don’t have the right experience... will that be ok?” Shangguan Ning’s confidence wobbled at the name of Jingsheng Enterprise. She was a little shocked.
Huang Lihan knew pretty well what she was worried about.
He replied smilingly, “It is alright! You will be fine. Besides, Uncle Jing is a nice man, and you don’t need to be afraid of him when you start to work there. Just be yourself while doing your job. Don’t you remember that he had held you in arms when you were little?”
Shangguan Ning was surprised to hear that. “When was it? Why don’t I remember it?”
“When you were ten years old, you tagged alongside me all day around. While fishing with us one day, you almost fell into the water, and Uncle Jing scooped you up. He also gave all of his fish to you.”
That incident rang a bell.
At that time, her mother had just passed away. Ning was a ten year old girl who suddenly got a stepmother and a half-sister. Her father was solely devoted to them at the time and she had been completely forgotten.
She was in tears every day, and always got injured for reasons unknown. Uncle brought her to his house, despite his wife’s loud protests. He had been afraid that she would run into some serious accident at her father’s place.
Once, when he went fishing with his friends, she tagged along. She was playful at that age, so she forgot about the unhappy things as soon as she saw the fish.
Seeing other people fishing, she had insisted on doing the same in the river. Since her uncle disapproved of that action, she sneaked into the river when he was not paying attention.
She was scooped up and carried back to the river bank by one of Uncle’s friends who also gave her a basket full of fat fish. When the evening came, she and her uncle, together with his friends, cooked that fish for dinner.
So that man was Uncle Jing!
It had been so long since the incident happened. Uncle Jing’s image was already blurry in her mind. But she remembered that he had been an affable man.
She let out a sigh of relief and became less nervous.
“I remember that Uncle Jing is an affable man.” Shangguang Ning said to Uncle, with a smile.
But she realised that Jing Zhongxiu might not be as easy going a man as she remembered him to be. After all, he had developed such a prosperous enterprise like Jingsheng.
But she wasn’t so bad herself. She would surely make him happy by working diligently.
After she hung up the phone, she immediately modified her CV and sent it to her Uncle.
It was only after Huang Lihan received the mail, did he remember that Jing Zhongxiu’s son was going to take over Jingsheng Enterprise, soon. However, Shangguan Ning wouldn’t have any problem with whoever was in that chair. Besides, he thought that Jing Zhongxiu wouldn’t let go of his position so fast. It shouldn’t happen before the Chinese New Year, at least.
He didn’t dwell much on it and sent the working time and address to Shangguan Ning.
Shangguan Ning couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief after she received the message – her work wouldn’t start until next Monday.
It was Wednesday today and there were still four days left before next Monday.
She needed to use this free time and rest. In the meanwhile, she was also going to fill herself up with more knowledge about Jinsgheng Enterprise.
Right at the same time, Jing Yichen received an e-mail which his father, Jing Zhongxiu, had sent. The content was simple and short: ‘Your assistant. Will start working at the same time as you, next Monday’. A CV had been attached and sent.
So, he just couldn’t wait to place someone next to him?
Jing Yichen sneered.
He ignored the mail and started to work on something else.
After a while, Tiger called from America.
Jing Yichen picked up the call immediately and sounded unusually eager. “Tiger, did you find her?”
“Yes, Master! It is Ms. Tang Yun!” Tiger was very excited. The woman whom Master had been seeking for ten years, had been finally found.
Jing Yichen got really excited as well. The heavy load that had been in his heart was finally going to be released.
Jing Yichen felt relaxed. His voice went back to being normally cool. “Bring her back then.”
Tiger answered hesitantly, “Master, Ms. Tang Yun said that unless you come and pick her up yourself, she won’t return.”
It was silent on the other side of the phone.
Tiger knew pretty well that Master hated it when someone threatened or bargained with him. But Master might have to compromise when it came to Ms. Tang Yun.
Sure enough, Jing Yichen answered lightly after a moment, “I will come pick her up myself. You come back to China first. I need you to handle something here. Get someone to protect her in secret. Make sure she is well.”
“Yes, Master!” Tiger was really happy that Master had allowed him to come back to China. He didn’t like staying abroad alone, and most importantly, he didn’t like Ms. Tang Yun, didn’t like her not ten years ago and now even less so.
Tiger booked the plane ticket and returned to A City, the same night.
Jing Yichen was a bit surprised seeing Tiger. “So fast? Did you fix everything for Ms. Tang?”
“Yes, Master. All is done. I left twenty men to keep her under protection 24 hours a day, and left enough amount of money too.”
Jing Yiche nodded. He asked after a moment of silence, “You don’t seem to like her?”
He sounded quite sure even though it was a question.
Tiger was a straightforward man. He nodded directly without caring if Tang Yun was important to Jing Yichen or not.
Jing Yichen didn’t get angry. Instead, he laughed. “Wasn’t she really nice to you before?”
“Well...” Tiger was a simple-minded person. He didn’t understand why he didn’t like her although Tang Yun had treated him well.
But he never lied, so he said. “I don’t know. I just don’t like her.”
Jing Yichen asked subconsciously, “Then whom do you like?”
Tiger laughed in a good natured way and answered without thinking. “Ms. Shangguan!”
Jing Yichen understood that Tiger didn’t mean it in “that way.”
An elegant and beautiful figure formed in his head when he heard the name. His expression turned gentle.
His heart was moved. It was rare for him to have such a talk with Tiger.
“Why do you like her? I don’t think that she has never given you any benefits. And you haven’t known each other for long, either.”
Tiger was baffled by this question. He scratched his head in bewilderment and replied in an unsure manner, “I like her because she has NEVER given me any benefits. And she greets me graciously. She is a good person!”
Upon hearing these words, Jing Yichen smiled.
