Actually, Yabao wasn’t entirely devoid of powerful non-fire skills, one of them was Hyper Beam.

However, Yabao had never practiced Hyper Beam, and it was currently at only a beginner level.

Using such an underdeveloped skill, Yabao couldn’t guarantee taking down Fire-Subduing Bird in a single blow.

But this wasn’t a major problem. Whether by allocating more points or practicing directly, the skill could reach a proficient level before the national championship.

If she used Hyper Beam as her trump card, the key issue would be ensuring it hit Fire-Subduing Bird accurately. After all, once the skill was unleashed, Yabao would be immobilized for a certain period.

If the attack missed, it would be Yabao who ended up in trouble.

Qiao Sang's thoughts were crystal clear, and she quickly devised a training plan.

First, get Yabao to improve Hyper Beam to the proficient level, ensuring that if it hit Fire-subduing, it would deliver a decisive blow.

As for guaranteeing accuracy, this would need to be refined through further training.

With a plan in mind, Qiao Sang turned to Yabao.

“Next, let’s practice releasing Hyper Beam.”

“Ya T!” Yabao immediately put down the gravity steel ball he had been training with and began gathering energy for the skill.

“Wait!” Seeing a ball of terrifying white energy forming in Yabao’s mouth, Qiao Sang panicked. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

“Not here!”

Though she had never seen the move used in real life, she had seen it in shows. The destructive power was terrifying. If practiced in a hotel, she might end up as tomorrow’s headline in the local news.

Thankfully, Yabao had good control over his energy. Hearing her, he dispersed the beam before firing it.

Qiao Sang let out a sigh of relief.

“Let’s find a suitable place to practice.”

“Yap!” Yabao nodded.

---

The sun dipped below the horizon as night approached.

At an open training ground, Yabao, Little Treasure, and Lubao were all training, each focusing on their own tasks.

Qiao Sang stood nearby, taking notes: Hyper Beam - Proficient Level: 8 seconds.

Thanks to ample supplies of B-grade energy restoration potions, Yabao advanced the skill from beginner to proficient level within an afternoon.

Qiao Sang noticed keenly that at the beginner level, Yabao was immobilized for 9 seconds after using the skill. At the proficient level, this time decreased to 8 seconds. ŗ

It seemed that as mastery improved, the immobilization time would decrease...

While Qiao Sang pondered, a pair of dark eyes observed her from a nearby bush.

“Did you see that?” A tanned man asked.

“Lai Lai.” Replied a yellowish, 70-cm-long salamander-like beast with drooping corners of its mouth and a perpetually weary expression. It nodded.

“When she fires that beam again, just collapse nearby.” The man instructed.

“If we pull this off, I’ll treat you to a big meal tonight.”

“Lai Lai!” The beast’s drooping expression lit up at the mention of food. It swallowed its drool, nodded solemnly, and braced itself.

Meanwhile, Yabao took another sip of energy potion and prepared to unleash Hyper Beam again.

---

Just as Yabao fired the beam and became immobilized, a man’s panicked voice suddenly rang out.

“Ahhh! My Lai Lai Da!”

Startled, Qiao Sang turned and saw a creature lying unconscious in the beam’s impact zone, a creature that hadn’t been there moments ago.

This setup screamed scam. Qiao Sang frowned, her intuition warning her of trouble.

A robotic voice interrupted her thoughts:

“Lai Lai Da: A mid-level Dark-type beast native to Tuwei. Known for its crude temperament, it provokes enemies by spitting but shows extreme loyalty to its trainer.”

Little Treasure had quietly activated the Beast Identifier.

“You hurt my Lai Lai Da! What are you going to do about it?” The man bellowed at Qiao Sang.

Qiao Sang’s suspicions deepened. A textbook scam... just my luck.

People began gathering, drawn by the commotion. The man smirked internally, confident in his con.

But Qiao Sang remained calm. With a slight smile, she issued an order:

“Yabao, Hyper Beam.”

The man froze.

“W-what?”

As Yabao’s mouth began glowing with another hyper energy charge, realization dawned.

“Oh crap, she’s serious!”

He panicked, screaming, “Wait!”

Qiao Sang had no intention of following through but wanted to see how long the creature would keep pretending. So she didn’t stop Yabao.

Terrified, the man scooped up Lai Lai Da and bolted, prompting a disappointed collective sigh from the onlookers.

---

As the man fled, Qiao Sang, intrigued, had Yabao halt him with psychic power.

Trapped, the man finally confessed.

“It was all a misunderstanding!”

Onlookers, realizing the scam, berated him loudly. Some suggested taking him to the authorities. The man was dragged away, shouting indignantly.

---

Later that night, Qiao Sang reviewed her opponents’ profiles for the championship. She noticed Little Treasure lying motionless on the bed, pretending to sleep.

“What are you doing?” She asked, poking his belly.

“Xun!” Little Treasure responded, claiming he was practicing deception.

“...Weren’t you going to work hard to reclaim your second-place spot?” she teased.

Realizing his slip, Little Treasure shot upright, determined once again.

Meanwhile, Lubao flowed out of the bathroom in her liquid form, muttering about training to become the leader.

Qiao Sang sighed, watching her team’s antics.

---

Finally, the big day arrived.

Standing in the lobby of the hotel, Qiao Sang looked at her team, brimming with resolve.

“Are you ready?” She asked.

“Yap!”

“Xun!”

“Lu!”

Satisfied, she led her team out the door.

“National Championship! Here I come!”
