Chapter 222: He Wants to Keep Competing!
Kong Nanhai almost spat blood upon hearing those words!
Flame Hound had just finished a match and barely recovered, yet here he was, demanding a recovery after only using a flame whirl without even moving!
Didn’t they say it would only recover once every five matches? Why wasn’t she following the rules?!
“Why?” Kong Nanhai stopped in his tracks, looking at Qiao Sang with an expression of disbelief.
Qiao Sang blinked in confusion.
“Huh?”
“Flame Hound wasn’t injured, nor did it use much energy. Why does it still need to recover?” Kong Nanhai asked, puzzled.
Qiao Sang scratched her head.
“Your last poison mist trick made my Yabao inhale a bit of it. Although it wasn’t much, poison is poison. I think it’s not good to keep it in his system for too long.”
“Yap?”Yabao tilted his head at his trainer’s words.
He was poisoned?
Kong Nanhai: !!!
You detected such a small amount of poison! Who knew you were so cautious?!
---
Kong Nanhai returned to his seat.
“What’s going on?” Zhou Ren pointed to the school nurse approaching Flame Hound on the field.
“What were you two talking about? Why did she call the nurse this match?”
The surrounding classmates gathered around too.
“We misjudged this underclassman.” Kong Nanhai muttered.
“What do you mean?” Zhou Ren asked, confused.
Kong Nanhai took a deep breath and said, “I initially thought she was just arrogant. Arrogant people are usually overconfident, so I was convinced that even if she noticed Flame Hound’s injuries from the previous four matches, she’d still wait until the fifth match to let it recover.”
“But after that match, I realized she’s actually cautious and rational, completely different from the arrogant impression she gave off.”
“Even such a tiny amount of poison mist absorbed by Flame Hound, with no visible symptoms of poisoning, she still detected it.”
Cautious and rational? Is he really talking about that ruthless underclassman?
Zhou Ren stared at Kong Nanhai thoughtfully for a few seconds, then suddenly asked, “Where are your glasses?”
Kong Nanhai paused.
“In the classroom.”
“Next time, make sure you wear them everywhere.” Zhou Ren advised earnestly.
Kong Nanhai: ???
“Back to the point.”
Zhou Ren pushed up his glasses and said, “Since Plan A didn’t work, let’s go with Plan B.”
“What’s Plan B?” A classmate sitting behind leaned forward curiously.
“What do you think her biggest advantage is in challenging the whole school?” Zhou Ren didn’t answer but asked a question instead.
A classmate thought for a moment and said, “She’s strong, and we’re weak.”
While not wrong, that was a bit disheartening... Zhou Ren glanced at the surrounding classmates and said slowly:
“Her advantage lies in the nurse continuously restoring her beast’s condition. But whether it’s the energy stored in the Recharge bug, or the berries and energy fluids in the nurse’s office, they’re all limited resources.”
“Once all the recovery resources are used up, she won’t be able to keep competing.”
A classmate behind him suddenly realized, “So we don’t have to do anything; we can just wait for the nurse’s resources to run out.”
“No, that’s too slow. Go tell the other classes that, no matter who’s competing, they should ask the nurse to help their beasts recover after every match.” Zhou Ren said, pushing up his glasses again.
“Make sure to restore all aspects.”
A classmate seemed to realize something, looking at Kong Nanhai. “Didn’t your Golden Armor Snake get injured? Why didn’t you have the nurse take a look?”
Kong Nanhai paused.
“I thought its injury wasn’t serious, so I planned to let it rest in the Beast Codex for a while, then give it a special berry when I return to the classroom.”
The Beast Codex not only allows bonding with beasts but also gradually restores their condition, although slowly.
“It’s because so many people thought like you that this underclassman was able to keep competing for so many rounds.” Zhou Ren sighed.
“Go find the nurse to help restore your Golden Armor Snake.”
Kong Nanhai said nothing, accepting the suggestion with a nod.
---
On the field.
Two withered, yellow vines lashed like whips, moving so fast they produced a whoosh-whoosh sound with each swing.
Despite the barrage of attacks, Yabao stayed calm, instantly teleporting to a spot out of the vine’s reach. His eyes glowed blue, and the vines froze mid-air.
In the next second, under telekinetic control, the two vines reversed direction and shot toward the Withered Vine, binding it tightly.
Then, a fiery red orb of concentrated energy struck the Withered Vine dead-on.
“Wretched screeeech!”
The Withered Vine twisted and let out a pained cry.
Before long, it collapsed.
“Withered Vine is unable to battle. Qiao Sang wins.” The female teacher announced in a monotonous tone.
Having to announce the same outcome every minute had worn her out.
“Yabao, that makes it 185 wins. Do you want to keep going?” Qiao Sang asked.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want more points, but the match was dragging on so long that her legs were numb...
“Yap yap!”
Yabao nodded.
Though the opponents were weak, he felt himself improving. In recent battles, his reactions had become almost instinctive.
He wasn’t fighting for nothing, he was getting stronger!
Who would’ve thought she’d be worn out before Yabao? Truly not human! Uh, well, Yabao technically wasn’t human either...
After a moment of inner reflection, Qiao Sang turned to the female teacher to request a recovery for Yabao.
The last five matches had all been against mid-level beasts, and Yabao had likely expended most of his energy.
Soon, the nurse arrived, though this time without the Recharge bug on his shoulder.
Approaching her, the nurse said helplessly, “Qiao Sang, I might not be able to help the Flame Hound recover for the next match.”
Qiao Sang paused.
“Why not?”
“We’re completely out of resources for energy and stamina recovery, as well as for treating injuries.” The nurse sighed.
“Even the Recharge bug’s stored energy has been depleted.”
The energy in theRecharge bug isn’t limitless; it expands as its ability levels up but needs time to replenish when exhausted.
“I see... In that case, I guess this ends my showcase...” Qiao Sang trailed off, turning to Yabao and asking,
“Yabao, you heard him. We can’t recover anymore. Even so, do you still want to compete?”
“Yap!”
Yabao’s eyes held a determined gleam as he nodded.
He wanted to keep going!
Just as she thought... Qiao Sang chuckled.
“There’s no stopping you, huh? But don’t overdo it if it gets too hard, everyone’s watching, after all.”
“Yap yap!”
