Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 149 Shizi Dogs vs. Feng Foxes (2)

Shizi's supporters screamed as the scoreboard moved.

Sir Dao removed his sunglasses to take a closer look at the scoreboard.

"The pass just now," Sir Dao muttered.

Muchen smirked as he turned to the old teacher. "It was pretty good, right? Kai has immense potential to become a playmaker."

Sir Dao shook his head. "I was way better when I was younger."

Meanwhile, the Feng Foxes couldn't believe that the Dogs had scored so early into the game.

"They weren't like this in the practice game," Kexin muttered as he received the ball from his teammate and started dribbling to their side once more.

Bocheng clicked his tongue and raised his hand as he passed by the bench, silently admitting that it was his fault that the Shizi Dogs had scored.

Yiming shook his head and gestured for him to get his head into the game.

Bocheng nodded and went to guard Yuze once again.

Kexin was on Zeren, feeling the first-year students' shooting potential.

Meanwhile, Shilei was on Jet, who was the same height and year as him. They had also played with each other before, which made them gauge each other's playing styles better.

With three of the official starting players guarding the Shizi Dogs, it could only mean one thing.

Kai was open.

So, as Kexin passed the ball to his teammate, it was gone in the blink of an eye as Kai took it from his hands and sped to their side of the court, preparing himself for a fast break.

Kai's heart beat faster in his chest as he stared at the ring. This was his very first fast break in an official league!

His mind went crazy with over a hundred possibilities, most of them leading to his failure.

But he stayed confident despite these uncertainties.

Kai knew that a mid-range shot wasn't the best choice for a fast break, so he settled on a lay-up instead.

3-5.

"What the heck? They're actually doing so good!"

"What's with them today? Are the Shizi Dogs actually this good?"

"I should have really watched their games earlier."

"I've never felt my heart beat this fast before—not even with a girl."

"You might want to reconsider your sexual preferences."

Kai couldn't help but smile as two points were added to their team.

Lina watched from the side and mirrored his smile. However, her smile quickly fell when Kai didn't even glance at their bench.

She looked down at the ground and shook her head.

"Is it really because of that?" she muttered.

The three official starting players from the Feng Foxes turned to each other in confusion.

Then, Kexin went to the second-year student who accidentally let go of the ball, glaring at him and telling him off for his mistake.

"Sorry. It won't happen," the player said.

However, the three talented players knew that it wouldn't be the last time.

The game continued, and it seemed like a much tougher game than the Feng Foxes had anticipated.

"Another point goes to the Shizi Dogs by none other than their captain, Yuze."

"It is now 21-22 in favor of the Shizi Dogs. There are three minutes left until the end of the first quarter, and the Shizi Dogs are actually holding up pretty well. With the most shots is Zeren, their rookie shooter."

"Yuze is coming as a near second!"

"However, what is this?" Mark Li exclaimed. "It seems like Yuze will add another point under his belt."

"Yuze! Let's go," Shang exclaimed from the bench.

Sir Muchen watched the Shizi Dogs play to their fullest capacity. As a fan of basketball, he had watched the Winter Cup starting from the beginning. He didn't watch their first game fully since he was also a big fan of the Yin Yang Knights, but he was able to see how the Dogs had progressed in just a few months.

"They can actually play against them now," Muchen muttered, a small smile playing on his lips.

"One minute left on the clock!" Mark Li exclaimed. "Will the Feng Foxes take the lead this time?"

Kexin's nostrils flared as he stared at their one-point gap. Even though it wasn't much, his pride couldn't take that the Dogs were leading!

Shilei saw this and was also fired up.

So, he decided to guard Kai instead of Jet, which surprised the latter.

Jet clicked his tongue as he was met with the amateur second-year player.

"He's going to regret leaving me," Jet muttered as he went past his guard to go to Kexin.

He reached out his hand and grazed the ball just as it left Kexin's hand.

Then, he turned around, having high hopes that the shot wasn't going to make it.

However, much to his surprise, it actually did.

"And they finally take the lead once again!"

25-23

"What the heck?" Jet muttered. "How could it go in when I touched it?"

Jet felt Yuze pat his back. "Don't mind. Let's take the lead back."

Yuze now positioned himself in the middle of the court, looking for any openings.

Then, his eyes landed on Kai, who was still being guarded by Shilei, one of the strongest defenders in the entire league.

Somehow, an outrageous idea popped into his mind.

He wanted to test how Kai's skills were against someone like Shilei.

So, despite the odds being against them, Yuze passed the ball to Kai.

Kai wasn't anticipating to get the ball, but he wasn't complaining at all.

He dribbled once, twice, his back against Shilei.

He cursed inside his mind as he felt that Shilei only moved an inch.

Meanwhile, Shilei clenched his jaw as he found himself struggling to defend the first-year player.

'I nearly forgot about his strength,' Shilei thought, not wanting to show his teammates that he was feeling weak already.

Kai let out a deep sigh before dribbling once more and then turning around with the ball in his hands.

"30 seconds left until the end of the first quarter. Who will reign in this quarter?" Mark Li exclaimed, also engrossed in the game.

Kai pursed his lips and thought of the missed shots that he had acquired in their past games.

With that, he felt a surge of adrenaline go through his veins as he shot the ball into the ring.

"15 seconds left, and Guo attempts to make the tie!"

"...and he makes it!"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Bao and Alen screamed so loud that Mingze felt his eardrums burst.

Yani also couldn't help but shout, making Suzy turn to her with raised eyebrows. With that, she quickly toned it down and placed her hand over her chest to calm her beating heart.

Amidst the cheers, the Feng Foxes' bench remained silent.

Then, the players turned to their captain—Yiming, who was their most trusted decision-maker—even more so than their coach.

However, Yiming turned to Chunlei instead.

Then, he unzipped his jacket before removing it from his body.

"I believe I should go."
