Chapter 94 Confession
"Now tell me what is going on here?" His eyes darkened completely as an intimidating aura subdued everyone in the room.
As soon as he uttered these words, the room fell into deep and long silence before Ren Ye decide to break into fits of laughter as he crouched down and place both of hands on his knees.
"What are you laughing about?" Kang Di's eyes lowered coldly as he watched this stranger laugh at him. He should feel a sense of humiliation from this man but his guts had signaled him that this man was merely a joke.
Ren Ye laughed so hard that tears from his eyes, he rubbed his red eyes as he chuckled, "Your Excellency, I believe it is not my place to answer this."
After which, he turned to look Xuan Jie, whose face was filled with arrogance and determination.
Her eyes darkened before she cried out to her son, "Di'Er, this man here. He is trying to kill me!"
Ren Ye suddenly stopped laughing as he placed his finger below his eyes, pulling it down and extending his tongue, "What are you going to do about it? Cry about it?"
Ren Ye, had he been in his original form, he would not do what he did just now. Playfully bullying his nemesis and making funny faces were Rein Lang's way of mentally provoking his enemies.
After doing that, everyone's expressions turned complicated and funny at the same time. Kang Di lowered his head, hiding his expression from everyone.
"I am giving your mother a run for her truth. Don't you wish to know what exactly happened those years ago?"
"Those years ago?" Kang Di lifted his head and watched him with cold eyes, he didn't understand what and when Ren Ye was referring to. He caught a glimpse of his mother's reaction.
To say she was unhappy was an understatement but her face didn't seem to look like those of the ordinary expression you see. Her face seemed to emit hot gas and those who stare directly at it would burn their eyes.
"Sixty years ago," Ren Ye elaborated with a confident look as he placed his finger against his lips, "Know what exactly happened to that older…"
Xuan Jie sprinted forward and attempted to grab Ren Ye by his shirt but Ren Ye reflectively dodged the attack as he raised his feet and pulled himself to the side.
Ren Ye quickly moved closer to Kang Di and tilted his head to give him a smirk and point at Xuan Jie's back, "Your mother here knows more than I do."
"Mother, what is he talking about?" Kang Di demanded to know as he cried out solemnly.
"Di'Er, have this man dragged away and mother will tell you the truth," Xuan Jie begged with tears forming at the corner of her eyes. Ren Ye scoffed as he pushed further.
"Drag me away and I will tell the truth here," Ren Ye playfully replied, "It is either me or you."
Kang Di shushed everyone and quickly ordered the security guards to back away and go outside. Instead, he calmly sat down with Ren Ye while his mother was crying by the side.
His eyes didn't contain any emotion as he said to her, "Mother, why don't you sit down and have a talk together?"
Kang Di negotiated like the diplomat he had been for his father as he chose to leave his mother's side and stood in the middle.
"A just man, indeed," Ren Ye was rather surprised by Kang Di's display of power but yet his willingness to negotiate for peace.
"But he would not take no for an answer after what he has sacrificed for them," Ren Ye added with a frown.
Xuan Jie solemnly refused as she pointed at Ren Ye with a threatening glare, "Drag this bastard away first."
"Mother," Kang Di's eyes gleamed with gradual coldness as his voice contained no fluctuation, "Come and sit."
As though she had been placed under a spell and submitted to his order, she quickly sat down on the chair on the right side of Ren Ye. Her face was pale and ghastly as she bit her lips tightly.
Her hands trembled.
"She listened to him a lot," Ren Ye observed by the side as he continued to display a provoking smirk at her. Kang Di stopped looking at his mother and turned to look at Ren Ye with a calm gaze.
"You can drop that pretense."
Kang Di said casually as he lowered his eyes on Ren Ye's face, he didn't continue to speak more.
"Eh?" Ren Ye was momentarily rendered confused as he was unable to catch what Kang Di was saying.
"Did he somehow manage to see through my disguise?"
Old Yi replied back slowly, "Mm."
Ren Ye looked at his direction and smiled indifferently, "Okay, I dropped it."
As soon as he said that, Kang Di lowered his head before nodding his head.
"You speak first. I wish to know what did you say that caused my father to react like this," Kang Di threw a glimpse in Kang Fan's direction.
Kang Fan mumbled in his sleep as he continued to caress the box with his bony finger, shedding tears onto the soft white pillow below his head.
"Di'Er!" Xuan Jie refuted with a pale face.
Kang Di's cool eyes gleamed silently as he said to her, "Mother, I wish to speak with him first."
"Shouldn't you listen to me first?" Xuan Jie was unable to accept it despite her son's order and words.
"I said," Kang Di solemnly ordered, "let me speak with him first."
Such simple words were able to shake the ground and heighten the tension in the room. Ren Ye observed his relationship with his mother.
"It appears they are more of a business relationship than that of a loving mother and son relationship," Ren Ye remarked curiously as Old Yi seemed to agree with his statement.
"They don't look close. He has absolute power over her. No, not just her but everyone in the room. He commands the room whenever he steps in one," Old Yi added quietly, "His father must have put a lot of this into him as a child. You can tell that by one word from him is able to change the atmostphere."
Ren Ye nodded his head, agreeing with Old Yi's opinions.
"How did you know about this?" Kang Di raised one of his legs and placed it atop the other as he folded his hands together on his thighs.
He was extremely curious as he listened to Ren Ye's confession, ignoring his mother's pleading eyes.
"I spoke to your brother in my dream," He sounded like a lunatic but considering he had discovered the ugly truth from the dream, Kang Di doubted he was a lunatic.
Kang Di gave him a nod of his head, "I have been waiting to know the truth for many years."
He curled his lips into a genuine smile, "He, too, came to visit me in my dream."
Ren Ye felt the words get stuck in his throat as he lifted his eyes and watch Kang Di's genuine smile.
"It was he who led me to where I am," Kang Di admitted to Ren Ye, "Thank you for telling me about what happened to him."
"Although I had not been born during his death but I wish to know about this brother of mine who often played with me in my dream," He lowered his smile and chuckled with nostalgia.
"One day, he disappeared."
"…"
"He told me another person will come to me and inform me of his new rebirth."
Ren Ye didn't know whether to laugh or cry as he asked, "Doesn't this make…"
"Me a child of a murderer? Yes," Kang Di chuckled bitterly as he was able to tell what Ren Ye was planning to say, "I have always known but I had not chosen to confirm it."
Kang Di coughed softly, "My father didn't know about it because it had been me who hid everything from him. My mother is allowed to act as she desire due to my influence."
"He didn't dare to acknowledge the affair rumors because doing so would validate them. He couldn't bring himself to do it because it would mean he had acknowledged that they had happened."
"He couldn't bring himself to bring trouble to his wife and son."
"And the result is both of them getting murdered," Ren Ye commented with a disdainful face, "Your mother is a murderer."
Kang Di calmly smiled as he turned to look at his mother's ashen expression, "Mother."
"Now that I have confessed what I knew along, it is time for you to do your part," His lips curled into a mysterious smile.
Xuan Jie's lips trembled as she uttered slowly, "I admit it."
"I killed them both."
Ren Ye spat out, "It took you this long to confess."
Xuan Die suddenly screamed, "I didn't know my son would know. How could I bring myself to admit my wrongdoings if they bought me my sons and daughters? This family lives on because of me!"
"Now you finally understand why I hadn't chosen to accuse her," Kang Di smiled at Ren Ye as he said.
