Apocalypse: The Hotel She Runs Is the Only Paradise

Chapter 3: The First Guest

Chapter 3

The girl took a breath and stood up again.

She walked to the front desk, looked at Gu Wanyin, and hesitantly said, "Sister, I did see the Peace Hotel sign outside just now, but are you really still open for business?"

In this apocalyptic world, where everyone was struggling to survive, even life in the Survivor Base was difficult. How could this hotel operate normally?

Moreover, although this hotel owner sister was thin, her complexion was rosy, and her clothes were clean. She didn't look like someone struggling in the apocalypse at all.

"Of course," Gu Wanyin replied.

"But I don't have any money left," the girl said.

In the apocalypse, money had long become worthless, so no one carried cash anymore.

Due to the scarcity of electricity, no one could use their phones either.

"You don't need money," Gu Wanyin said with a pleasant smile. "Any item you have can be exchanged for points here. Ten points will get you a one-night stay."

"Can I use any item?" the girl asked cautiously.

"Yes, but it has to be something normal," Gu Wanyin replied.

She couldn't accept anything disgusting, after all...

The girl thought for a moment, then pulled a fountain pen from her shirt pocket.

This was the last pen her father had bought for her before the apocalypse.

She had never been able to part with it.

But this hotel was so miraculous that even zombies couldn't enter!

So she was willing to give it a try.

Gu Wanyin pushed the machine forward a bit and said, "Place it on here."

The girl licked her lips, somewhat reluctantly placing the pen on the machine.

To her surprise, the pen slowly disappeared!

Then, a card appeared on the machine.

She picked it up and saw her name and other information written on it.

Name: Dong Yue

Room number: 201

Room rate: 10 points per day

Current points: 11

"Sister, look at this..." Dong Yue handed the card over for her to see.

"That's fine," Gu Wanyin said. "Would you like to check in?"

"Yes!" Dong Yue nodded quickly.

"Alright, it's now 3:42 PM. If you don't extend your stay tomorrow, please check out promptly at 3:42 PM tomorrow," Gu Wanyin instructed.

What would happen if she wasn't on time?

Dong Yue didn't ask this aloud, but she felt there would be severe consequences.

After all, someone who could run such a large hotel in this harsh apocalyptic world, and even repel zombies, surely wasn't an ordinary person!

"Sister, sister! We... Oh, who is this sister?"

At this moment, Cola and Hamburger came running over, hand in hand.

They had been watching TV in the room.

Given that it was the apocalypse, there were certainly no new TV programs to watch, but some old TV series, movies, variety shows, and animations could still be played on the television.

"Cola, Hamburger, you've come at the right time. This is our hotel's first guest!" Gu Wanyin winked at them.

She had already told the two kids over the past few days that they would be running a hotel.

The two immediately understood. Hamburger even ran up to Dong Yue, smiling sweetly as she said, "Welcome, guest sister!"

Hamburger was incredibly cute. Although she had been ravaged by the apocalypse for over a year and was still skin and bones, her spirit had recovered somewhat after a few days of good food and rest, making her look bright and lively.

Dong Yue was almost melted by her cuteness. She wanted to pat her but feared it would be too forward, and besides, she was dirty and didn't want to touch the child.

"Come on, let's take our first guest to her room!" Gu Wanyin said.

"Okay!"

She and the two kids led Dong Yue up the stairs to the second floor.

Although there was an elevator, it couldn't be used. Probably because she hadn't completed the corresponding task to activate it yet.

As they climbed the stairs, Gu Wanyin heard the system's voice in her head.

"Ding! Congratulations, host. Task completed. Reward: Room 202, unlimited bread."

Gu Wanyin was delighted.

It seemed that in the future, she could have a piece of bread with her instant noodles.

When they arrived at Room 201, the door was closed.

Gu Wanyin said to Dong Yue, "Only the room card in your hand can open this door. Other than that, not even I can open it. Of course, you cannot intentionally damage anything in the room, or the hotel will immediately remove you. Also, if you lose your room card, you can get a replacement, but the points on it will be reset to zero, so please keep it safe."

"Mm, I understand," Dong Yue nodded quickly.

She swiped the room card on the door lock, and the door immediately opened.

The room was furnished but very simple. A small window, a bed, a small light bulb on the ceiling, and nothing else.

There was also a bathroom and a kitchen, but the bathroom only had a simple sink and a toilet, while the kitchen had just a faucet and a sink.

"I'm sorry, this is all we have in the hotel rooms for now," Gu Wanyin said.

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw tears streaming down Dong Yue's face.

She was startled, thinking to herself that while it was indeed basic, it surely wasn't worth crying over?

"This is wonderful, this place is just too wonderful!" Dong Yue said through her tears.

Gu Wanyin: "..."

"Hotel owner sister, you don't understand. Since the apocalypse began, I haven't had a single good night's sleep. Having a bed to sleep on was a luxury!" Dong Yue wiped her tears. "But now, I actually have such a nice room to rest in, and I don't have to worry about zombies..."

"It's not just zombies," Gu Wanyin added. "As long as you're in the hotel, you don't have to fear any natural disasters."

It's absolutely safe here!

Dong Yue, tears still on her face, stared at her in astonishment.

What kind of hotel was this? Not only could zombies not enter, but it even disregarded natural disasters?

"Alright then, you should rest now," Gu Wanyin said with a smile. "If you need anything, just call for me."

"Wait a moment, sister!" Dong Yue quickly called out to her. "Does the hotel sell food? I'm really hungry."

"Yes," Gu Wanyin said. "But right now we only have instant noodles, one point per pack, oh and bread, one point per piece. Which would you like?"

Over the past few days, she had asked the system, and it said that the food rewards given to her could be sold to guests.

She could set the prices herself, but the system advised that since they had just opened, it would be best to set lower prices initially to attract customers. They could adjust the prices later based on food sales and system requirements.

To be safe, she had asked if both instant noodles and bread could be priced at one point each, and the system had no objections.

However, the facilities in her main room were not allowed to be lent to guests.

"I'll take the bread!" Dong Yue quickly said. "I have one point left on my card."

She actually wanted the instant noodles more, but there was no way to boil water here. She figured if she had to eat something dry, bread would be better than uncooked noodles.

"Alright. Cola, Hamburger, go get some bread for our guest. It should be in the kitchen cabinet."

"Okay!"

Cola and Hamburger, full of energy, immediately ran off.

Gu Wanyin then said to Dong Yue, "By the way, the water from your kitchen faucet is safe to drink directly. It's absolutely clean. However, neither the water nor anything else from the hotel can be taken outside to resell."

(PS: The points here are different from pre-apocalypse money, so don't think of one point as one dollar. The system's resources are endless, so there's no possibility of loss. )
