New York City Suburbs.

The Ruins of the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters.

"Oh, my heavens, this smell is just..."

The moment Pietro stepped out of the portal, he couldn't help but pinch his nose.

"Honestly, I thought I was prepared for this, but Alex, this environment is making me feel seriously uncomfortable this time."

In truth, it wasn't just Pietro. Almost everyone who arrived frowned, as the overwhelming stench seemed to blow over them like a sinister wind, forcing several to take a step back.

The smell was unbearable by any normal standard. Shifting their gaze slightly, the heroes spotted the source of the stench—a massive mountain of bones behind them.

"Oh, great…"

The sight was a towering pile of skeletons belonging to countless deceased individuals.

No one could say exactly how many had died here. Tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands? Either way, the sheer number was beyond anything most of them had ever witnessed.

The visual impact of such a scene was unimaginable. Even Batman, known for his calm demeanor, furrowed his brow deeply, his expression dark.

Though they were seasoned heroes who had faced large-scale battles and equally devastating catastrophes, this sight left them all at a loss for words.

Sniffing the air, Wolverine, Logan, suddenly turned toward a specific area of the bone mountain. Among the remnants, he noticed scraps of clothing and other trace evidence.

His sharp eyes focused as his fists clenched tightly.

"Logan?"

Clark noticed Logan's unusual behavior and asked quietly.

Logan exhaled heavily, his teeth gritting.

"There's no mistaking it. This place was the X-Men's domain. I'll never forget their scent."

"The X-Men?"

Logan's words drew everyone's attention. It was only now that they noticed familiar traces amidst the piles of skeletons and garbage—remnants of a once-recognizable world.

Crunch. Crunch.

As Logan stepped across the skeletons, the brittle bones cracked under his feet. He moved through the piles with purpose and soon found his target. Kneeling, he began searching through the remains.

It didn't take long before Logan unearthed a high-tech pair of goggles from the heap.

The silver, fully-enclosed visor was designed for energy conversion and control. Its previous owner was none other than the X-Men's leader, Cyclops.

"...Scott… Why is it always you, sacrificing on the front lines..."

Holding the visor in his hands, Logan sighed deeply, his expression filled with complex emotions.

"There's no time for sorrow. Time waits for no one, and the longer we delay, the greater the danger," Batman said calmly, standing in the shadow of the bone mountain.

Though this was his first time encountering such devastation, his exceptional self-control allowed him to regain composure quickly. After speaking, he turned to Alex.

"Let's proceed according to plan."

"Right."

Alex nodded slightly. He understood the gravity of the situation and wasted no time.

"Everyone here knows our objective. This universe, freed from its polluted time loop, is at risk of breaking apart. Without the intervention of the Watcher, this world will soon return to normal operation.

However, this also gives the zombies a chance to spread their virus across other universes. If they succeed in invading other worlds, the resulting chain reaction could be catastrophic—or worse.

To prevent that, we must eliminate the threat here and now."

Alex paused before continuing.

"I will use teleportation magic to send each of you to different parts of this universe. These areas are where the remaining zombies have gathered. The rest is up to you."

The group offered no objections. They had mentally prepared themselves for this mission. Killing zombies and battling alternate-world heroes—what could be crazier?

Only Ashley hesitated, quietly raising her hand.

Seeing this, Alex chuckled softly.

"Ashley, just speak your mind. You don't need to raise your hand."

"Is there really no way to save this world?" Ashley asked, lowering her hand.

"If I'm not mistaken, there's supposed to be an antidote for this zombie virus, right?"

Her time in the wasteland had changed Ashley significantly. She was no longer the reckless girl she used to be. While she could still curse like a sailor, her mindset had matured, and she now carried herself more like a true hero.

Looking at the tragic fate awaiting this world, Ashley couldn't help but empathize. Having been redeemed herself, she wanted to spread hope to others who were suffering innocently.

Alex fell silent at her question.

Yes, there was hope for saving this world—however slim.

Alex knew of a special method, one mentioned in the original story by Zombie Spider-Man. Using Wolverine's healing factor as a catalyst, Zombie Spider-Man had managed to create a serum that suppressed the insatiable hunger.

With it, he even rallied a group of zombie heroes to fight back against the rest.

If given enough time, perhaps with the combined intellect of Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and Batman, they could eventually develop a true cure for the zombie virus.

But...

"Ashley, you must understand something: the zombie virus itself isn't the primary concern. The real issue is that this universe was once 'polluted'. We don't know enough about that pollution yet.

Yes, those entities have now left this world. They've turned their gaze to other places. But I can't be certain they won't return their attention here again someday.

So, for the sake of the multiverse—and your safety—I have no choice. Sometimes, destruction makes things simpler."

What worried Alex most were these zombies, who had been polluted in the past.

If, out of compassion, they chose to spare these beings now, and someday, the pollution crept back into their minds, altering their cognition, and they spread the corruption to other universes, it would become a catastrophic mistake borne of Alex's team.

To avoid such a disaster, Alex never intended to save this universe from the start. In a way, destroying this world with his own hands and witnessing its end could be seen as a form of redemption.

"Alright, I understand," Ashley said thoughtfully, nodding.

After his explanation, Alex slowly raised his hands. Golden streams of light shimmered as several massive portals spanning entire galaxies rapidly opened.

"There's no time to lose—move out!"

Following the prearranged groupings made during their meeting, the heroes of the Justice League and the New Avengers armed themselves and briskly entered their respective portals.

Currently, the remaining zombies in Universe Z were few in number. During the rampages of the zombie heroes, fierce battles had already broken out, leaving countless zombies dead.

However, the threat wasn't over. Across various planets in the universe, traces of zombie activity still lingered.

To completely eliminate any chance of these beings threatening the multiverse, they needed to eradicate every powerful zombie remaining in this universe.

Titan

Zombie Thanos sat upon his throne. Unlike his previous golden throne, it had now been replaced with a grotesque Blood Throne crafted from bones.

Beside him stood the zombie Black Order, presenting fresh Asgardian soldiers to Thanos as offerings, providing sustenance to sate his hunger.

With most life in the universe nearly wiped out, Thanos had resorted to capturing living beings from other planets, raising them as livestock to serve as his endless supply of food.

"This... this is true 'balance'."

Thanos tore off an Asgardian soldier's arm, chewing with relish, savoring the taste of fresh blood coursing through his mouth. It was a sensation he hadn't enjoyed in a long time.

At that moment, a golden portal opened in the distance.

Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Wolverine Logan, Queen Mera, Shazam, and Etrigan emerged from the portal.

"Did we interrupt your meal, Titan?" Logan growled, extending his claws, his eyes burning with murderous intent.

In contrast, Zombie Thanos merely smirked. Unlike the tense Black Order around him, Thanos continued enjoying his feast.

"No, quite the opposite. You've arrived just in time—to serve as my dessert."

Across the Universe

Xandar, Tranta System, Andromeda Galaxy.

The once-vibrant homeworld of the Nova Corps, known for its commitment to peace and order throughout the universe, had now become a horrifying site of death and destruction.

The Zombie Nova Corps had completely taken over Xandar. They had even annihilated the Kree Empire, consuming its people, including Ronan the Accuser, whose remains were reduced to just a severed head displayed on a flagpole in their plaza.

The region of Xandar and its surrounding star systems had turned into a no-man's-land. No one dared approach, fearing they would end up as a menu item for the Zombie Nova Corps.

Today, however, Xandar was about to welcome some unexpected visitors.

High above, amidst thunderclouds, a golden portal appeared, bringing forth two extraordinary individuals.

Dark clouds loomed, lightning streaked across the sky, and amidst the foreboding clouds, Kara and Lady Thor (Black Canary) descended, their overwhelming presence casting a shadow over everything below.

In an Unknowable Realm

On Counter-Earth, where new humans resided.

The knights of Wundagore, infected by the zombie virus, had overthrown their creators, the High Evolutionary, using a "new" method of evolution. They had perfected the adaptation of the zombie virus to their unique physiology.

The unfortunate High Evolutionary, having yet to unravel the cosmic philosophy of life's evolution, was killed by his own creations. The Counter-Earth civilization he built had fallen into a hellish landscape.

Countless zombie beastmen roamed the planet, reactivating the High Evolutionary's life-creation devices, turning them into a grotesque buffet where they devoured each newly birthed life.

These beings, designed for a more advanced and peaceful existence, had fully embraced their primal instincts. Now, they were little more than beasts wearing human skin, tearing into their prey with feral savagery.

Unbeknownst to them, as night descended, the Bat lurking in the shadows had already set his sights on them.
