Chapter 15 - Zombies evolve, just kill them all

Chapter 15: Zombies evolve, just kill them all

The strange scenario below persisted. Wu Ping continued, unaffected by anyone’s gaze. What if someone observed it? That was a doomsday setting, not the realm of cultivating immortals. He dismissed the concern, indifferent to the prospect of eliminating them all. In the realm of cultivating immortals, must one still endure hardship in the doomsday world?

“Go to hell,” he declared firmly, dismissing the idea. The primary focus was on arrogance and justice. The trio adhered to the window, witnessing zombies below falling one by one. After an hour, only a handful of zombies remained.

Xu Feifei expressed horror, “Over half of them are second-level zombies. He effortlessly eradicated them?”

“It must be at least a third-level evolutionary,” she continued. “Not only that, he’s killing them one by one, invisible to these zombies. He possesses the strength to crush them but, for some reason, is limited to one at a time. At least a level 4 evolutionary!”

Evolutionists, individuals awakening abilities via zombie crystal nuclei, were all first-level. The lack of nuclei due to theft by others resulted in their lower evolution. Cao Ling suggested, “Are we saved? Do we no longer have to be trapped here?”

Cao Ke, sceptical, replied, “I don’t know. We can’t predict his intentions.” Just then, Wu Ping soared into the sky, landing on the windowsill.

“I’m exhausted. You two go down and collect the nuclei. I have a count in mind. No stealing. Stay as hostages. If anyone flees, I’ll kill her first and then you,” Wu Ping pointed to Cao Ke. Lacking the desire to do the dirty work, he enlisted their help, coincidentally finding three labourers.

Who goes by the name of Demon Cultivation primarily focuses on avoiding personal matters. Cao Ling and Xu Feifei glanced at Cao Ke, their eyes filled with questions. With the situation more dire than ever, Cao Ke had no choice but to crouch down, restrain Wu Ping’s leg, and say, “Go, I’ll wait for you here.”

She couldn’t guarantee whether Wu Ping would attack them, but for survival, she had to comply with his wishes. Hoping for his contentment and a chance to be released, she pondered the uncertain nature of normalcy in the post-apocalyptic world.

The two descended in silence, swiftly dispatching zombies and extracting crystal nuclei.

Wu Ping, casually conversing, inquired, “Is that your sister in black clothes? Or a sister?”

Cao Ke, gripped by Wu Ping’s strength, could hardly resist. So far, Wu Ping’s words hadn’t translated into harmful actions. “It’s my sister.”

“You two look quite alike.”

Clad in matching black tube-top trousers with short hair, exquisite faces, and a capable demeanour, Cao Ke and Cao Ling were unmistakably twins. Cao Ke whispered, “We are twins.”

Observing the room, Wu Ping deduced it wasn’t theirs. “This shouldn’t be your room, right? Did you attract the zombies below?”

Cao Ke admitted, “Yes, my sister and I, along with another person, sought refuge here.”

“Escape here? Who’s chasing you?”

Reflecting on their escape from school, Cao Ke shared details. Intrigued by the terms, Wu Ping inquired, “What’s the difference between these second-level and third-level zombies compared to ordinary ones?”

Cao Ke explained, “Ten days ago, we heard on the radio that the world was on the brink of a second large-scale zombie evolution. Creatures worldwide, including zombies, are entering an evolutionary frenzy.”

“We feared what Xu Ziming might do to us in school, so we fled upon hearing this news.”

“The officials also mentioned that zombie evolution involves more than just increased strength; it could include additional abilities akin to humans. As zombies evolve, their nuclei also change. First-level zombie nuclei are white, second-level green, and third-level blue,” Cao Ke explained.

“The higher the level of the zombie crystal nucleus, the more support it provides to evolutionists, but it poses greater harm to humanity. Mountain city officials have set up large shelters; my sister and Xu Feifei plan to seek refuge there.”

Wu Ping, contemplating the information, felt a surge of excitement. “That’s excellent! The more powerful zombies evolve, the more potent the nuclei they produce. No wonder some zombie raw souls showed stronger characteristics and solidification when extracted,” he mused.

Thinking about refining a zombie evil spirit, Wu Ping envisioned heightened attack power. He contemplated his current status as a lower-grade soul-refining streamer and saw an opportunity for advancement. “If I acquire souls from these three-level zombies, it should be sufficient!”

His attention returned to Cao Ke. “You mentioned a third-level zombie at your school?”

Cao Ke nodded cautiously, “Yes, but the school is now under Xu Ziming’s control, along with a group of evolutionists armed with guns. Going there could be dangerous.”

Guns, natural enemies to carbon-based creatures, held a lethal threat. Yet, Wu Ping, confident in his abilities, dismissed the concern. “No worries, just lead me there. I’ll take care of them.”

Cao Ke hesitated, emphasising the danger, “Xu Ziming and his group are armed. Facing guns…”

Wu Ping waved it off with indifference. “It’s fine. I’ll handle them all.”
