Chapter 165: Wizardia
Chapter 165: Wizardia
The change was sudden and extreme.
Throughout the entire realm, people who knew and followed Joseph, were being given the option to become what he was, and everyone who knew him, and how powerful he was, were accepting.
(YOU MAY KEEP NOTIFICATIONS OF ALL OF YOUR SUBJECTS, THEIR LOCATIONS AND THEIR STATUS, IF YOU WANT, FROM THE LAST REALM, THOUGH ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE THE SYSTEM, HERE IN THIS REALM, WILL BE ABLE TO TIE INTO THE MESSAGING SYSTEM.)
'Really? That's great!'
(AS THEY GO THROUGH THE TRANSITION OF CHANGING, I AM ALSO TAKING AWAY THE SYSTEM AND ALL KNOWLEDGE OF IT FROM THE PREVIOUS REALM. APPARENTLY ALL THOSE YOU JUST BROUGHT OVER ACCEPTED THE CHANGE, WITH THE BELIEF THAT IT WAS MANDATORY AND I MAY NOT HAVE CORRECTED THEM)
'You won't get in trouble for that?' he asked, looking out over the land.
(TECHNICALLY THERE'S NO RULE AGAINST ITWAIT, NOW THERE IS. HAHA! TOO LATE SUCKERS!)
'Let me guess, the god of laws just got involved?'
(WELL, YES, BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY NURKONG WHO WAS TICKED. HE PROPOSED SOME RATHER NASTY THINGS FOR YOUR MOST RECENT ACTIONS, BUT THE OTHER GODS FAVOR YOU SO MUCH, THEY PUT A STOP TO IT.)
'Serves him right for sending me to that other realm.'
(SOME OF THE OTHER GODS ARE DECLARING THEIR DEBTS TO YOU ARE PAID IN FULL. I'M GOING TO LEAVE THAT ONE ALONE. IT FEELS LIKE A TRAP. ENJOY THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS!)
'Thanks?'
Joseph could tell that all of his mage disciples had chosen the mage bloodline, as he tied into the system abilities that were stolen from the last realm. Wondering briefly if the system there really had been destroyed, he decided he would find out later, when he contacted the dwarves for trade.
Of the mage bloodline, the nurses and many of the craftsmen had joined. He had considered a third bloodline that dealt with crafting, but decided that he didn't know enough in this lifetime to give it justice. And he wasn't sure that the knowledge in crafting from his other lives would work in this world. The rest of the craftsmen and all of the guards had chosen to go the warrior bloodline, as could only be expected.
Joseph moved to the edge of the tower as he realized all of the people from the lands claimed by his father, were starting to come towards the mountain. Apparently, the change of race and the appearance of the mountain were too close in timing to be just a coincidence.
With the kin who wanted to become Wizar, the number who now claimed his new race swelled to well over 3.5 million Wizar. With all of them producing mana, all in one area, the affect was glorious. Joseph could feel the mana soaking into his skin, and into everything around him. The castle, the trees, the very ground were all becoming saturated with mana. It swirled in colors that humans weren't meant to see. Even the air smelled cleaner and crisper.
"It's so beautiful," whispered Stella, as her eyes grew wide. Glancing at him, a mischievous look crossed her face, and she kneeled. "MY KING!"
"Uh, Stella, what the shavist are?"
Everyone for miles kneeled where ever they stood. He knew without looking, that every Wizar everywhere was kneeling at that moment. The slaves he had taken from his father, the western kingdom people who came with them, the former barbarians, the kin on the mountain, and then the dragon.
(THIS IS FANTASTIC! I KNEW YOU WERE WORTH IT!)
Three and a half million people all kneeling in submission to him was a bit much, and it took him a few minutes to get himself together.
GREAT VOICE.
As everyone of his people listened to him, he began, "Welcome to my home realm, those who have traveled with me on this mountain."
FLIGHT.
Flying up so that everyone of them could see him, he continued, "My name is Joseph Aurum, First of the Wizar, Dragon Friend, Kenrick, Thaumaturge, Mage Adept, Rune Master, One who cripples gods, and now the Mage King. Our world tree has been corrupted by demons in ages past, and I will cleanse it and lead you to a new and blessed land. A land where none of you will be enslaved. A land where those who work hard will be rewarded for their efforts. A land where your children will be fed and educated. A king requires subjects. You are all, my people. Together, we will create miracles that other realms cannot even imagine.
"Today is a festival day. Let history record this day as the founding of the Kingdom of Wizardia!"
Drawing the excess mana from all around him, he began to glow for all those who did not have mage sight.
ESSENTIAL FOOD.
Giant, whole roasted elephants and dragons, salads of strange glowing plants Joseph only remembered from Sylva's island, tropical fruits from thousands of worlds, all appeared between the mountain and the town.
HEAL.
The base unmodified rune was without direction. It searched everyone for miles, for something to heal. Old scars were removed, cuts and bruises disappeared, bones that healed crooked were straightened and aligned, diseases were destroyed. The mana cost to invoke a base rune directly was enormous, but the effects were likewise incomparable.
If this didn't ensure their loyalty, then nothing would.
As he floated down to the tower top, he said, "Eat, and celebrate the beginning of our great kingdom!"
"Stella," he said, canceling the GREAT VOICE, "Send for all of the council members of the beast-kin, and I'll have dad bring all of the council members from that side, here. It's time to get the two groups together and introduce each other."
With a smile, she darted to the stairs and disappeared for only a moment, before returning to his side. He knew as he contacted his dad, that she had found a servant to do the summons for her.
Several hours later, he stood in front of a great table, that was positioned in the dining hall. It was the largest room in the castle, that would hold all of the people on his current council. The introduction of everyone had lasted over an hour, and it was obvious the plentiful food and drink had helped to smooth over the unease of everyone.
Nidhogg, the lesser dragon, was proclaimed the treasurer, as he had the best math of everyone there. He had a place at the table, at the end, next to a whole roast ox.
"Just what, exactly is going to be the currency, in your new kingdom?" asked the dragon, between bites of his roast ox.
"I'm not sure just yet. We have so many different people now, any one thing seems insufficient. Coins of any kind of metal would be capable of duplication by magical means, even if I made it a law not to do, there would be some who might be capable of breaking the law."
Nods and grim looks accompanied his words.
"I think the only thing that would be sufficient, would be a magical currency, made by myself, that would be so complicated to reproduce, none would be able to duplicate it."
"When do you think, you might be able to make such a thing, in enough quantity to suit the entire kingdom?" asked Nidhogg, puzzled.
Joseph smiled. "I'm sure I'll find the time in the next week. Until then, have a barter system set up so that everyone can get settled."
'You want me to work on that, don't you?' asked Joe.
'Of course, when would I have time?' asked Joseph, taking a drink of his apple cider.
'I suppose I do have some free timealright, I accept the mission.'
Over the next couple of hours, the council members discussed the most important topics lightly, such as housing, the need for lights, job availability, food and water needs, and set a time for them to reconvene at regular times.
Joseph was very pleased as it looked like the few council members that had the most possibility of causing trouble, seemed to be behaving themselves very well.
The next day, he met with all of his EARTH mages.
TELEPATHY.
SCHEMATIC.
He began to share with them some of the sky scrapers that he remembered from his previous lives. They were formed into teams and sent out to create fifty story buildings. First, they used SHAPE EARTH to create the shell, then EARTH TO STONE to solidify them. Then a later team would come along and make central supports with metal using MAKING/BREAKING mages to FIND WEAKNESS, and some KNOWLEDGE mages with MEASUREMENT and TEST LOAD to verify the structures.
Once they were satisfactorily making buildings, Joseph used CREATE SPRING several times to create plenty of fresh water sources. He even altered the terrain to create large depressions for a lake to form.
Noticing the rain clouds building on the horizon, he knew that rain would mess with all the hard work his people were doing, so he sent the clouds away, and informed the council to spread the word that every fifth day, there would be light showers all day. That would help all of the gardens, and give everyone a day of rest. They were more than happy to oblige, not even stopping to consider the ramifications of the fact he could control the weather in such a way. He was the Mage King of a kingdom of mages, after all.
