Chapter 37: Dragon Slayer.

Chapter 37: Dragon Slayer.

I pulled out my dual katanas and entered the boss room.

I forged these bad boys during the time I spent grinding. Exact same height, length, and weight. Perfect for dualwileding. I call them lefty and righty. I wield lefty and on right and righty on my left. The reason I am using these is for speed, which seems to be my greatest asset against the vast dragon.

The moment I stepped through the gate I activated focus and trained my gaze on the dragon. Walking forward in a leveled stride.

While walking forward I cast {Sunlight Blade} on my weapons. Enveloping them in an orange and yellow lightning aura.

*Slam!* *Boom!*

The dragon slammed its hand down on me but I jumped to its hand's side and slashed in an X pattern. Cutting in deep and thanks to the miracle the wounds sizzled and bubbled as they started melting.

*Sweep!* *Flip* *Slash!*

It used the hand already on the ground to sweep it toward me, hoping to catch me. But I flipped over it and as I did so I landed another scathing slash on its arms. Making it roar in agony.

*Slam!*

It slammed its other hand on my position once again. This time I ducked around one of its fingers as it slammed down and started wailing in the hand as fast as I could dish out light attacks.

"Rooooaaaaaaerrghhhh!!!*

The dragon let out a gruesome scream as I diced one of its appendages. By the time the hand retreated and the other swooped in I had already chopped off two fingers and made 8 deep cuts on the hand. The next time it slammed that hand down it would be in a world of pain.

But next, it was about to slam its teeth down and I couldn't get out on time. Even with {Deadman Style: Dash} I would still get caught at the tail end of its attack. That's why I developed a new technique.

I raised my right foot up and leaned forward, shifting all of my weight to the front. Then just as I was about to fall, I summoned a small flame beneath my foot and slammed it down as I cast combustion. Propelling me forward like a bullet.

{Bullet dash}!

*Boom!* *Craashhhhh!!!!*

I was narrowly able to completely avoid the slam. I slammed my legs onto the ground and stopped my dash forcefully while enduring the recoil. I immediately turned toward the stunned dragons and used one of the moves I had developed for the twin blades.

'{Deadman Style: Shred}!'

Unlike the other moves in deadman style, this one focused on speed over strength. Forcing my body to go as fast as it can. My hands left after images as my blades clad in lightning danced across the flesh of the gaping dragon. Leaving searing wounds.

Unfortunately, I couldn't wail on him forever as he got up with more fervor than ever, perhaps because of the tens of burning slashes on its side? Nah.

Now it started thrashing around wildly trying to hit me. This had turned from a calm and calculated battle to a fight for my fucking life.

As I was running around desperately trying to dodge the titanic abominations' attacks I felt something. Along with the fear, there was something else.

/Elation/.

Every attack I narrowly dodged I felt my veins fill with adrenalin and my brain flood with endorphins. I didn't feel my tightness of breath, my lack of stamina, or the pain of torn muscles. Only extreme exicetemt.

Is this the thrill of battle? The only things running in my mind were dodging and attacking. Not survival, not desperate attempts to avoid pain and death. Just fight.

Pulling more and more strength out of my body. Dodging and weaving in between the claws of the beast. Dancing with death so narrowly I was covered in blood, every blow I dodged I countered with my own, littering the arm of the gaping dragon with dozens of light cuts.

But unknowingly I had snapped my leg while washing sending flying, in the middle of which a giant claw came and divided me into several pieces.

[YOU DIED]

...

I can do it.

It is feasible.

But I don't have the tools to do so. While my twin blades may be good at chipping opponents down, I need something to deliver lethal blows with. A big blade capable of bringing down even bigger beasts.

Then the idea immediately sprung into my head and I got to work. I headed back to the shrine where my forge was and after greeting everybody I emptied my inventory for the things I could use and got to work.

I got out ingots of steel. Bones of the hellkite drake. And a small mountain of titanite shards and large titanite shards.

Even though the number of items I set in front of me was an absurd amount of items I think it was just barely enough for the weapon I wanted to forge. A weapon big and strong enough to bring down even the biggest and mightiest of beasts. I would need to craft the bane of all dragons.

I melted the tens of steel ingots I brought to red hot and started hammering them into shape with my inhuman strength. While I used my hellkite cape as a makeshift blacksmith apron.

*Bang* *Bang*

The ingots started shaping together into a giant slab of metal. I left the big slab of metal at the furnace to keep it red hot as I moved onto the drake bones I set aside. I took out the demon's great hammer and started absolutely pulverizing the shit out of those bones until they became a fine powder After that I took a large handful and started sprinkling it over the red-hot metal and started folding the metal with the bonedust.

The reason I made the bonedust and mixed it with the metal was that my intuition as a natural craftsman told me so to achieve my desired effect. I spent hours upon hours hammering away at the blade while adding more bonedust when I felt it was necessary. By the time I had finished hammering I was left with a glorious 2-meter-tall blade.

*Fshhhhhhhh!*

I moved over to the small well I filled with drake's blood and quenched the blade with the blood because my skill told me so I guess. After that, it was time for the grindstone to give the blade a proper edge. When all of that was over I moved to the most important part.

I brought out a small but very durable engraving knife and cast sunlight blade on it. Then I started engraving the center of the blade while inputting focus into it, focusing on what I wanted it to become.

It took several hours of grueling effort and by the end even with my inhuman stats my hand was trembling but it was complete. The symbols and patterns I engraved did not hold meaning of their own, I was the one who gave them their meaning with my own power. Weaving the shapes and my meanings together to bring about the effect I desired.

The blade was beautifully engraved. In the middle of the blade, there was an engraving of what looked to be draconic patterns. And in the middle of those patterns was the figure of a knight standing over the corpse of a dragon. All of which looked like a majestic gold color even though I didn't use any other metal. It glowed a warm orange light as my hand brushed over the engravings. I had also wrapped the handle in drake leather. Finally, the dragonslayer had arrived at lordran to lay waste to the dragons.

< A great achievement! You have created a special weapon! >

<Reward: 1x{Skill Evolution Token} has been inserted into inventory>

Huh, that's unexpected. I already know what the token does since the information was brain tucked into my by the system when I got it but since I don't have a good enough skill to use it on, I will leave it alone for now.

This token allowed me to forcefully evolve one of my skills as long as they were max level. But regardless the beauty in front of me was far more important currently.

-----------------

<Dragon Slayer>

A blade forged by the chosen undead, born from his desire to fell the dragons that humanity couldn't even fathom to harm.

Using this blade even a human can fell the everlasting dragons. Yet it seems ironic that only those with inhuman strength can wield this blade.

Options:

{Anti-Dragon}: This blade will inflict more damage on targets of draconic origin.

{Lightning amplification}: Any lightning that passes through this blade shall be amplified.

{ Enhanced Durability (Medium)}

-----------------

I stashed the reward for later use, and right now I just want to admire the absolute beauty of this blade. 2 meters tall, with golden engravings. Crimson handle. With a weight, I could barely handle.

It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was like a heap of raw iron.

Yes, I did shamelessly plagiarize Guts' weapon, no I don't regret it.

You know what they say; if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Now, this is a weapon that can slay a dragon. I am surprised I even managed to pull it off honestly. I half expected it to be a mediocre weapon. Hell, I was even prepared for it to be a failure. Pushing those thoughts aside I went next to a boulder and slashed down.

*Split!*

It had split the boulder in half and yet it was in basically mint condition. No rolling, chipping, or dulling. This was the perfect weapon against the drake.

And now it was time to put it to the real test.
